Of 'The Slacker Take-Over Plot' deel LXIX

Omdat veel topics over indie bandjes nauwelijks lopen, en dus na 7 posts stilvallen, leek het ons een goed idee om een topic te maken waarin "Indie" centraal staat.

Het begrip indie is natuurlijk wat wazig, maar dat mag geen excuus zijn voor enorme zeurpartijen over wat nou wel indie en wat nou niet indie is. Dat is dan ook helemaal NIET de bedoeling. Als je toch per sé een definitie wil, All Music Guide heeft een redelijk uitgebreide op hun site staan.

Dus praat hier wel over obscure bandjes, nieuwe platen, geziene optredens, geef tips en commentaar, als het maar met "indie" te maken heeft!

Die moet je handmatig dan ophogen, automatische nummering werkt niet met romeinse cijfers. ;)

Ik heb alleen de single nog gehoord, die vind ik niet heel veel anders dan hun oudere werk.

Ja dat is dan ook meteen het beste nummer van het album so far, maar vind het allemaal zo saai en standaard binnen de lijntjes. Zit niks experimenteels tussen zoals bij Eat Raw Meat bijvoorbeeld, geniaal nummer is dat.

Ik ben fan van vooral het eerste album, al luister de laatste jaren er een stuk minder naar. Het derde album vind ik ook wel aardig, het nieuwe album heb ik nog niet geluisterd (al vond ik Ton of Love niet heel bijzonder, dat voorspelt dus weinig goeds).

Nieuw geluid van De Staat. Het klinkt afschuwelijk, maar op een fijne manier. Precies de emoties die ik had toen ik Sweatshop voor het eerst hoorde. :D

Feit is wel dat ik iedere band die ooit door 3FM in het zonnetje is gezet hier afgekraakt heb zien worden. En De Staat heeft, zeker rond Machinery, niet te kort gehad aan aandacht. :P

Maar ik vind het een fantastische band. Debuutalbum is een hoogtepunt in Nederlandse rockmuziek. :9 En bovendien een van de weinig acts uit de Excelsior-wieg die oprecht anders is dan alle anderen.

Hij doet met die baard hard z'n best maar hij heeft inderdaad nogal een jong gezicht. Wat mij persoonlijk (ook live) niet afleidt van wat dan ook. :P

Toch wel heel anders, De Staat is een soort pop-stonerrock, die associatie heb ik met Alamo Race Track niet, maar misschien ken ik die band niet goed genoeg.
