A Mystery in Tripoli: Blood on the Street? By ARYN BAKER / TRIPOLI Aryn Baker / Tripoli Sat Apr 2, 3:30 am ET When gunfire breaks out in Tripoli, it pushes a city on edge into paroxysms of speculation and rumor. The gunfire was heard in the early hours of Thursday, and went on in staccato bursts for a little more than an hour. It took place outside the Rixos Hotel, where the journalists stay, which is just a few minutes' walk to Muammar Gaddafi's Bab al Aziziya compound. Witnesses to the aftermath described "pools of blood" on the streets. "But you won't find anything now," a resident, who cannot be named in order to protect his safety, told me a few hours later. "The fire trucks came to hose it all down." A friend quipped, "They probably used shampoo to make sure they got it all up." Dark humor has become the trademark of Libyans in a town with little reasons to laugh. The fight, I was told, took place between a small band of rebel boys from the restive neighborhoods of Tajoura and Souk al Juma, armed with stolen weapons, and Gaddafi's volunteer militia - civilians given arms by the government. The reasons are unclear. The Libyan speaking to me surmised that the rebels, some 30 in total, were attempting to make a show of force at the gate to Gaddafi's compound, but no one knows for sure. What is clear, he told me, is what happened next: the security forces intervened, stopped the fighting and captured the rebels. The Libyan, who comes from those neighborhoods, didn't think any had been killed, though there had been plenty of injuries he said. (See photos of the battle for Libya.) At a press conference that evening, Government Spokesman Moussa Ibrahim swatted away questions about the early morning conflagration. "I always try to advise my friends not to celebrate by shooting in the air," he sighed with mock exasperation. "But it is a genuine Arab tradition. As far as I know there was no fighting in Tripoli last night. People heard good news, so they were shooting in the air." The good news? There had been no airstrikes on the city that night. I asked the Libyan witness to the post-shooting cleanup what he thought would happen to those rebels he said had been captured by the security forces. "They will disappear of course. And next time there is an airstrike, they [the authorities] will bring out their bodies and say they were civilian casualties." I asked him if he really believed that, or if he was just being cynical. "I believe they will do anything," he replied. (See the rebels' high cost of reclaiming their towns.) Apparently, so does Amnesty International, which just released a report detailing an alleged government campaign of enforced disappearances throughout the country. Ibrahim slammed the report in his press conference, saying: "We are fed up. [International human rights organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International] are losing credibility. They are making wild claims about our abuses of human rights, against prisoners of war and armed rebels. ... They are sitting in Benghazi, where the terrorists are, and making claims about what is happening in Tripoli." He went on to explain that in a situation of war it is inevitable that people disappear. But just because something bad happens, the government should not be blamed. "First of all, hundreds of young Libyan boys were tricked into joining the revolution. They go to join with no papers, no I.D. Some die, some escape and some are traumatized and go to the hospital. They are either killed or taken by the army. We do not kidnap people." (Watch the passionate Libyan rebels in action.) A question about a ceasefire proposed by the rebel National Opposition Council elicited a furious tirade. "It's a trick," said Ibrahim, explaining that the conditions - Gaddafi's forces withdraw from the cities and allow peaceful protests - were impossible. "You're not offering peace if you're making impossible demands," he said. "We will not leave our cities. We will not stop protecting our civilians. If you want peace, you leave things as they are." The press conference, of course, had been called to complain about airstrike-inflicted civilian casualties. As Ibrahim spoke, video footage of wounded women, children and men being treated at a hospital rolled on the screen behind him. He offered to take journalists to the town of Bou Aqoub, near the oil town of Brega, to see for ourselves the civilian dead. I couldn't help but wonder if the bodies in Bou Aqoub look anything like the rebels in Tripoli. http://mippin.com/mip/pct.jsp?p=281314766_9

UPDATE 1-Libya rebels battle Gaddafi forces in oil town Sun Apr 3, 2011 10:35am GMT * Warplanes heard over Brega but rebels say no air strikes BREGA, Libya, April 3 (Reuters) - Warplanes flew over Brega overnight as rebels fought troops loyal to Muammar Gaddafi for control of the east Libyan oil town, rebel fighters said. A Reuters correspondent waiting near the eastern gate of Brega, a sparsely populated settlement spread over more than 25 km (15 miles), heard the thud of explosions and machinegun fire on Sunday morning. Black smoke rose further west and hundreds of cars carrying volunteer rebel fighters streamed away from the town. Later, half a dozen rockets struck near the gate. Rebels waiting there held their ground. "Those planes that circled last night didn't hit anything," said rebel fighter Osama Abdullah, suggesting the absence of air strikes was the result of NATO taking command of the coalition forces from France, the United States and Britain. "(French President Nicolas) Sarkozy is great but NATO is not," said Abdullah. A Western coalition air strike killed 13 rebels late on Friday near Brega's eastern gate. The rebel leadership called the bombing an unfortunate mistake and said air strikes were still needed against Gaddafi's better-armed units.

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) -- The deadly battles in Libya forged ahead Sunday as pro-government forces shelled a medical clinic in the city of Misrata, killing one person and wounding 15 others, a hospital source said. The source, a doctor who was not identified for security reasons, told CNN two people were injured by an initial mortar blast. The rest of the injured were wounded by a second mortar blast when they went to the scene of the first attack to help victims. One of the injured is a 14-year-old child who suffered a fractured skull and is in a coma, the doctor said Sunday. The clinic that was attacked had evacuated patients because of recent attacks, said another doctor at a Misrata hospital that received the patients. But it was being guarded by opposition "fighters and young people" who were injured. Elsewhere in the city, the sound of heavy shelling was heard coming from the port area, a resident said. CNN

AJE Abdel Ati al-Obeidi, the Libyan deputy foreign minister, has met with George Papandreou, the Greek prime minister, in Athens, though officials refuse to divulge what the content of the discussions was. Papandreou's office says that Baghdadi al-Mahmudi, the Libyan prime minister, requested the meeting during a phone conversation on Saturday. Papandreou has also discussed the Libyan crisis with British PM David Cameron on Friday, Qatari PM Sheikh Hamad bin Jabar al-Thani on Saturday and Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday. On Friday, al-Obeidi had said the Gaddafi government was attempting to hold talks with Britain, France and the United States. Earlier, another Libyan envoy had visited Athens in March to meet with foreign ministry officials ahead of an EU meeting on the Libyan crisis. Reuters Libya official in Athens to convey Gaddafi message (Reuters) - Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Abdelati Obeidi flew to Greece Sunday to deliver a message from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to the Greek prime minister, a senior government official told Reuters. His trip came after Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou had a phone conversation with Libyan Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Ali Al-Mahmudi Saturday on developments in Libya. "They (Libyan government) requested to send an envoy with a message for Prime Minister George Papandreou and that is why he is in Athens," said the official, who asked not to be named. It was not clear what the message was about, the official said. Obeidi was expected to meet Papandreou late Sunday, the prime minister's office said. Along with Gaddafi, Papandreou spoke with Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al Thani Saturday, Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan Sunday, and UK's Prime Minister David Cameron Friday. Earlier Sunday, a security source at Tunisia's Djerba airport told Reuters that Obeidi crossed from Libya into neighboring Tunisia and from there flew to Athens. Tunisia's official TAP news agency also reported that Obeidi crossed overland into Tunisia and was heading to Djerba airport, near the border, adding that he was not on an official visit to Tunisia and had not been in contact with Tunisian officials. Last week Libyan Foreign Minister Moussa Koussa crossed into Tunisia then flew from Djerba airport to Britain. The British government said he had defected. In Tripoli, Libyan officials were not immediately available to comment on Obeidi's movements. Obeidi served as prime minister under Gaddafi in the late 1970s, and later was head of the General People's Congress, or parliament. His current post is minister of state for European affairs. Greece has said it will not send any warplanes or take part in air strikes against Libyan targets but the NATO-member country has made available to European and U.S. forces the Souda military base on the island of Crete and three other air bases. Reporting from Tripoli, chafing on Gadhafi's leash TRIPOLI, Libya - At the Rixos Hotel, Moammar Gadhafi's gilded cage for foreign journalists, fistfights break out. Paranoia is high. And the Libyan government is on unblinking watch for any deviation in the official script. Waitresses who serve coffee with smiles on their faces act more like trained intelligence agents hours later, when a woman bursts in claiming that militiamen had raped her. They expertly wrestle her to the ground. Government minders feed reporters the narrative of a nation united behind its longtime leader, then arrest or even expel those who sneak away to find out for themselves. Government-led trips dubbed "magical mystery tours" by the press corps sometimes turn perilous. And then there's the noise, the pro-Gadhafi music blaring on the bus with state journalists singing along and pumping their fists in time and even in journalists' rooms as housekeepers clean them. The psychological stress is much different from that faced by reporters on the front line in eastern Libya, where bullets, mortars and rocket-propelled grenades are the threats. The Rixos, by contrast, is a five-star hotel, though it has rapidly declined as journalists and minders have taken over the building and some staff have fled. Still, for Western journalists accustomed to press freedoms, working in Tripoli under Gadhafi's rules has in some ways been tougher than reporting from a battlefield. One reporter muses about whether his dinner is being drugged. An Italian journalist punched a government minder and had to be pulled off the man by a couple of British reporters. A French journalist threw his coffee at his cameraman during an argument, but it landed on the back of a government spokesman, who had to change his clothes. Another punching fight ensued. "It has become a competition to see who gets kicked out first," one American journalist has a habit of saying. Some journalists already have been deported most of them Arabic speakers. They are more tightly controlled than the rest of the corps because they understand the culture better, and have many times caught discrepancies in the government-paid translators who try to control the interviews and information. When Iman al-Obeidi barged into the hotel to tell her story of being gang-raped, it was the Arab journalists who were harassed the most for trying to interview her. Government minders called them traitors of their own culture and said they should understand why the other Libyans were unhappy with her dramatic entrance. Al-Obeidi now faces criminal charges. Reporters are lectured at press conferences, accused of not doing their job, of not "asking the hard questions" or "asking the wrong questions." When an Associated Press reporter was trying to decipher the exact story of how a missile allegedly hit a farm in Tripoli, the minders called her unprofessional and said she was trying to skew the story. Journalists have to put up with the government control if they want to report from Tripoli. Even though they see little Gadhafi does not want them to see, they have a unique window on the conflict quite possibly the most important window if his regime falls. For now, however, the experience can be disorienting and excruciating. "Good moooorning all jooournalists!" Moussa Ibrahim's call booms over the hotel's public address system every day, the hint of a British accent in his perfect English betrays the 15 years he lived in the United Kingdom. The hotel itself has lost some of its sheen. Hotel management has canceled room service and laundry service, and has taken all the pictures and decorations off the walls. Chairs and tables have been removed from a pretty terrace where some journalists used to drink coffee and work it's now a desolate hall people use as a smoking room. Each day sees a "magical mystery tour" a government-run bus trip to see a location around Tripoli. It usually turns out to be nothing like what the minders described. At their worst, the trips leave the press corps in fear of their lives. There was the night the bus ran out of gas outside the Gadhafi stronghold of Sirte, almost stranding journalists in the desert as rocket fire pounded nearby. On another trip, unhappy locals opened gunfire at the bus and journalists had to run for cover. The trips usually end with at least one very loud staged rally: Gadhafi supporters waving green flags and dancing around for the benefit of the television cameras. The print reporters will try to sidle to the sidelines to talk to anyone who seems like they're not part of the rally, only to be ushered back to the main crowd by the government minders. Reporters are so tired of the staged rallies they now stand listless during the events, smoking cigarettes and wincing at the loud pro-Gadhafi shouting. The hotel lobby has become a meeting point to share information, rumors and gossip for the reporters. Sometimes a couple will attempt to sneak out of the hotel, minderless, but it has become increasingly difficult to do this with taxi drivers getting in trouble for driving foreigners around town. If on the off chance, journalists are able to slip away and get one or two precious quotes of dissent in the capital, they walk around with the sense of pride that comes with beating the system, and brag to their colleagues and competitors about their work. Usually the sneaking trips have ended badly some reporters were arrested, cuffed, detained for a day, disappeared for a few hours, or kept in a parking lot to get berated by Gadhafi militiamen. Sometimes just being arrested feels like work has been done that day. http://www.cnbc.com/id/42402856

The new Libyan Satellite channel broadcasting from Doha in Qatar has conducted a telephone interview with Eman Al Obeidi in Tripoli in which it is confirmed that Eman has been set free but is yet unable to go back to her family in Tobruk. No other news sources have confirmed this, but we have simply translated the telephone interview for you. Translation: Anchor So, Eman Al Obeidi that was tortured and assaulted by Gaddafis security forces and then imprisoned after she exposed Gaddafis actions, here she is now outside the prison bars once again and she joins us now via Telephone from Tripoli. Eman, Good evening. Eman? Can you hear me? Eman Hello, may peace be upon you Anchor May peace be upon you too. Firstly, praise be to God for your safety. Eman to begin with, the first step was in the way that came out to expose Gaddafis regime. What happened so that you came out this ways? Eman First of all, I want to congratulate the people of Benghazi and eastern Libya and tell them that we are with you in our hearts and completely in every other way. I want to congratulate our brave revolutionaries, and our families for their resolute stance, and that we are not afraid of them (Gaddafis regime). I am here in Tripoli and I am not scared of them or their battalions Anchor Eman I ask you about the way you came out in the way you did in front of the cameras to expose Gaddafis regime. What happened exactly? Eman Gaddafis security forces kidnapped me from a taxi. They have set up checkpoints all over Tripoli, its entrances and exits. They have checkpoints stopping people. Amongst the people manning the checkpoints are volunteers, but there are also army officers. They steal from the foreigners and they subject people to thorough checks. On the day I was leaving my friends house, a security car stopped me and took me out the taxi and kidnapped me. They raped me and held me captive for 2 days Anchor Eman, after your detention. The government spokesman came out and confirmed that Eman suffers from mental disorders. How do you respond to him? Eman I mean you can see the Libyan regime spokesman which does not represent all the Libyans, that when people go out to demonstrate they say they they are taking hallucinogenic pills. When people go out asking for freedom and dignity, they say they are drunk. ANd when I came out to ask for my rights, they said I was mentally retarded. I do not know how to respond to this regime Sir Anchor Yes, after they arrested you while they were dragging you to the car, you said they were taking you to prison. Where did they take you? Eman They did not take me to the doctor or a hospital. They did not take me to a health or psychological. Rather, they kept me in custody for 3 days. For 3 whole days I was kept in custody for investigation purposes with all the different branches. The Intelligence Agency, the External Security, the Internal Security, The Criminal Investigation Department, The Directorate of Securitythere wasnt a single security branch that did not question me. For 72 hours and I was being questioned Anchor Right, Eman can you confirm to us that there are many Eman Al Obeidys in Libyan prisons right now? Eman Sorry? Anchor I mean, are there other women with you in Libyan prisons asking for freedom who have also been arrested Eman I did not hear the question Anchor Eman, you hear me now? Eman Yes Anchor I mean, are there are women with you who were being questioned? Eman When they were questioning me where there any other women? Anchor Yes Eman Arrested women or women who work in the security forces? Anchor Arrested and then question Eman Sir, I did not see anyone, I was placed in a room in isolation. During the my entire arrest period, I was being asked one thing: To come out on the Liban state channel and say that those who kidnapped me were not from Gaddafis security forces, rather they were from the revolutionaries and armed gangs. That was their only request and I kept refusing Anchor- Eman, how did they set you free? Eman They were saying that I was refusing to go to the medical examiner. But I DID go to the medical examiner and he proved that I was raped and subjected to forced sexual intercourse. But after 3 days and pressure from the media, they transferred me to the Attorney General in Tripoli. And after they received confirmation from the Medical examiner they told me that they will take all necessary measures to arrest those who were responsible, but till now till this hour, I was at the Attorney Generals office and they have not done anything so far. Anchor Eman, right now as they say the ball is in your court. There are many cases, will you be raising a case against Gaddafis regime for example, for their illegitimate action of arresting you. The main reason for their arresting you is yet unknown Eman Sir, sir, raise a case against who? If this regime is the one that judges, arrests and sets free. If the Libyan State TV.Sir, I was a victim for the Libyan regime twice. The first time a victim to his security forces, and the second time a victim to his satellite channels. These channels that I cannot describe with a single word Anchor Eman, did they guarantee you that you will be with your family in Benghazi and Tobruk in a day or two? Eman Sorry? Anchor Did you take a guarantee from them that will allow you to go to Benghazi and Tobruk, to your family I mean Eman I told the Attorney General that i want to go to my family in Toburk, but they declined my request Anchor Another question regarding those who were detaining you. Were they pressured, especially by the huge demonstrations that were organised by our sisters in Benghazi and Tobruk. Thousands of women came out asking for the freedom of Eman Al Obeidy. Did these demonstrations help to pressure the regime to set you free? Eman- Yes, if these demonstrations did not come out and had the media not take care of my case, I would have never seen daylight again. You know very well that Gaddafis regime is not understanding in these situations Anchor Eman Al Obeidy, the women of Freedom, we thank you greatly. And in my name and the name of all the new Libyan channel, we congratulate you for your release and praise God for your safety.

22:47 Al Jazeera Arabic an eyewitness from Al Qalaa has reported the following: 1. Revolutionaries attacked Gaddafis forces that were stationed in an area called Taghma. Their attacks began at 5am and continued attacking till 10am which resulted in Gaddafis forces suffering losses in men and weaponry. Gaddafis forces retreated to the area of Jfara where they began indiscriminately firing Grad missiles into the town of Al Qalaa. This random bombardment caused the residents to flee to an area called Thaahir Al Qalaa. Gaddafis forces were bombarding Al Qalaa from 20km. They bombed schools, homes and mosques.

Ben Curtis / AP - A young boy who said he had spent two days in besieged Brega and stolen a vehicle belonging to Moammar Gadhafi's forces in order to return to the rebel side, is questioned by rebel fighters near the front line east of Brega on April 3. Rebel fighters shot the tires out of the vehicle as it sped through the front line but released the boy after listening to his story.

Translated: new Libya Satellite channel in Qatar confirms Eman Al Obeidy is released from custody via telephone interview The new Libyan Satellite channel broadcasting from Doha in Qatar has conducted a telephone interview with Eman Al Obeidi in Tripoli in which it is confirmed that Eman has been set free but is yet unable to go back to her family in Tobruk. 18:09 Almanara Media http://www.libyafeb17.com Random bombardment with rocket launchers is targeting civilians in Al Qalaa town in Nafoosah mountain. The reports stated that the families fled fearing for their lives but do not have any shelter and are calling for aid. The report states that Gaddafis forces are stationed in Al Jfara area. Gaddafis mercenaries have been conducting constant attacks for the past 2 days on the area of Jabal Nafusah in an attempt to destroy the revolution there. Yesterday, they almost completely destroyed the area of Kiklah and today they started an attack on Yefren and Al Qalaa. The observers are confused at the position of NATO regarding these events that will undoubtedly lead to civilians being massacred like they were in Az Zawiya and Zwarah

The myth of tribal Libya Portraying Libya as 'tribal' is not only wrong it dismisses the notion that our uprising has anything to do with national dignity In the last few weeks, the word "tribalism" has been used extensively in the context of the Libyan democratic uprising a spectre looming over the country, embodying the devil we don't know. This was first introduced into the public mind by Saif al-Islam Gaddafi during his address last month in which he threatened the bloodshed and destruction that his father's regime has let loose on the Libyan people. "I can't believe in 2011 we still have no postal addresses" Yep - Libya is probably the only country in the world man when i go there on holiday and ppl try to send me sth i feel ashamed to c we have no postal addresses they just can't blv In Libya, to tell someone where you live, all you can do is use a complicated system of Mosques, shops and landmarks to guide them. It doesn't - well, only to PO boxes at the airport.. you have to go down there and pick them up yourself I asked a woman I met at airport who invited me 'What is your address?' she gave me directions 'Zenga lowla la Zenga tania' the funny part is like 42+ years ago #libya had addresses, and a postal service - then gaddafi happened. Where do you live? Behind the gas station, near the school, 2 blocks right from the crossroad with the big palm on the right

Libya: Colonel Muammar Gaddafi 'must remain in power' The Libyan government has said it is open to political reform, but Muammar Gaddafi must stay in power to avoid a Somalia- or Iraq-style power vacuum. Spokesman Moussa Ibrahim described Colonel Gaddafi as a "unifying figure", and insisted his forces only targeted armed rebels, not civilians. Libyan state TV has showed video of Col Gaddafi rallying supporters in Tripoli. Meanwhile, his son told the BBC that Foreign Minister Moussa Koussa had not betrayed Libya by leaving for the UK. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi told the BBC's world affairs editor John Simpson that Mr Koussa had travelled to Britain for health reasons and was being pressured into making allegations about Libya's government in an effort to secure immunity from prosecution. Mr Gaddafi said Moussa Koussa was allowed to leave Libya, and denied that he knew incriminating details about the Lockerbie bombing or other atrocities. "The British and the Americans they know about Lockerbie, they know everything about Lockerbie so there are no secrets anymore," Mr Gaddafi said. "Come on. The British government say this: you have no immunity unless you co-operate. He [Moussa Koussa] is sick, he is sick and old so if you put it this way, no immunity of course... [he] will come out with the funny stories." On the ground in Libya, the Associated Press reports that rebel fighters have resumed their efforts to retake the eastern oil hub of Brega, pushing halfway into the town. They have won and lost control of the town several times in recent weeks. The oil-rich country's vital coastal belt is effectively split between rebel forces in the east and government loyalists in Tripoli and the west, nearly two months after the start of a revolt against Col Gaddafi's rule. A tanker carrying Libyan oil is expected to leave rebel-held territory on Tuesday, the first shipment of oil since the uprising began. 'Elections, referenda, anything' Speaking in Tripoli, government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said Col Gaddafi was "a safety valve for the country to remain together". "The leader provides Libyan tribes and Libyan population of a unifying figure, as a unifying figure," he said. "Many Libyans, many Libyans want him to lead the process forward because they are scared if he is not there for any reason we will have what happened in Iraq, we will have what happened in Somalia, we will have what happened in Afghanistan." Libya, Mr Ibrahim said, was open to political reform - "elections, referenda, anything" - but "the leader has to lead this forward". Mr Ibrahim said it was not for the West to tell Libya "you have to lose your leader or your system or your regime". Denying government attacks on civilians, he challenged the outside world to investigate any alleged crimes. "We are fighting armed militias," he said. "You are not a civilian if you take up arms." Late on Monday Libyan state TV showed what appeared to be live footage of Col Gaddafi saluting supporters from a jeep outside his fortified compound at Bab al-Aziziya in Tripoli. 'Corpses in the street' As fighting continued in eastern Libya, evacuees from the besieged city of Misrata, in the west, have accused pro-Gaddafi forces of atrocities against civilians. On Sunday, a Turkish humanitarian ship carrying more than 250 injured people from Misrata, the only major city in western Libya still under rebel control, arrived in the rebel capital Benghazi. Speaking from Tunisia, other evacuees told Reuters that Gaddafi forces there had been "massacring" civilians. "You have to visit Misrata to see the massacre by Gaddafi," said Omar Boubaker, a 40-year-old engineer with a bullet wound to the leg, brought to the Tunisian port of Sfax by a French aid group. "Corpses are in the street. Hospitals are overflowing."

AJE Reuters news agency has reported that Libyan pro-democracy fighters hoped to begin their first independent oil shipment on Tuesday. The tanker Equator, which can carry 1 million barrels of crude, was due to arrive at the east Libyan port of Marsa el Hariga. The pro-democracy leadership says Qatar agreed to market oil from east Libyan fields no longer under Gaddafi's control after the Gulf state recognized the revolutionary council in Benghazi as Libya's legitimate government. Italy, a major investor in Libyan oil, also sided with the rebels on Monday, promising them weapons and demanding that Gaddafi and his family, who enjoyed warm ties with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, leave Libya.

Misratas Freedom Fighters Outsmart Gaddafis Soldiers! door Libyan Youth Movement op dinsdag 5 april 2011 om 7:25.Wefaq Libya Reports from Misrata: For each battle, one way to win includes this war trick! Because our freedom fighters have a sense of humor, theyve been inspired to use this method to overcome the tyrant. Several days ago, the freedom fighters unloaded the fuel station located on a service road for heavy transport vehicles. The gasoline it contained was emptied and was replaced with water instead. The freedom fighters then retreated thus leaving the fueling station to be accessible to the nearby Gaddafi brigade. Because its easy to trap a mouse in a trap, the rats of Gaddafi looted the fuel station and started filling their armored vehicles with fuel! When they attempt to leave, their vehicles stopped moving , and that is when our freedom fighters ambushed them! Gaddafis solders were forced to flee leaving their dead vehicles behind. I guess the next time they want to fill up, theyll have to taste the fuel to be sure!

Here is a cleaned up version with some corrections. replace everything with this text between lines of equal signs. ====== Host: We have Eman directly from Tripoli so we know what happened. We are now fearing for you every time we establish a connection with you. Eman: I wanted to talk to the press. Every time I leave a location I am intercepted at gun point (automatic weapons) and they take me into cars . They took me from amongst the people at gun point. They drove for a while around and around and then they took me to criminal investigations. Host: So they kidnapped you, who kidnapped you? Eman: They did not show me any IDs, they are armed and have civilians cars. They took me to to criminal investigations they said they are from national guard Then they took me to criminal investigations. The later said we have nothing against you, why they brought here. We have no records on you. Then they let me go. Of course every time I am let go I am kidnapped again. One of these days they will NOT let me go anymore. Armed in civilians clothes in cars belonging to the government. Host: Eman you are a lawyer and you understand Law well, did you asked why they are kidnapping you? Eman: There is absolutely nothing against me I don't know what to do in country where there is no law Host: So Eman one step at a time, they kidnapped you.... Eman: Armed in civilians clothes in cars belonging to the government. They abused me and and hit me on my finger and my hands than they apologize, saying this was a mistake. I can't go like this anymore. I wan to return to my family (in Benghazi) but they are refusing for me to return to my family. I don't know why they are refusing for me to return to my family. 12:03 Reuters A Libyan-owned ship carrying imported petrol has docked at the regime-controlled port of Zawiyah to relieve fuel shortage, a government official has said. They did not say where the ship had come from, or how the vessel had been able to get through a cordon of NATO warships which is patrolling Libyas coast to help enforce international sanctions. 14:06 AJA Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent near Brega has reported that Gaddafis forces have pushed the volunteers from the revolutionaries 30km east back towards Ajdabiya. They seem to have received reinforcements as they have started to heavily bombard the revolutionaries with rockets once more. Their artillery fire is reaching big distances, and even as the media team was retreating, rockets were still falling nearby. Earlier today, 2 Gaddafi scout cars came near where the revolutionaries were stationed, and both cars were destroyed completely. In another incident, revolutionary pickup trucks received direct hits from Gaddafi rockets. The battle is still ongoing and though the volunteers have retreated, the trained soldiers headed by AbdulFattah Younis are still in the front lines and have been bombarding Gaddafis forces for 3 hours straight with Grad missiles and rockets. Gaddafis forces suffered large losses near the University of AnNajm as Sati in Brega yesterday but they have changed their fighting tactics and seem more equipped today

1 van de vele twitters: How is it that he has continuous ammo & weapons for his mercenary forces, how is it that they are moving so organized?

"Either US has to admit failure or has to deploy ground troops." "World where democracy is not going to take hold" Mwah, Islamitische soennitische scholieren zien toch het liefst democratisch gekozen leiders.
Hans_van_Baalen | dinsdag 5 april 2011 @ 21:38 |

. This ain't my West, vriend. You some Bitchez! Khalifa Haftar is eenzelfde verhaal.

Reuze interessant. Air Force told to send more planes to Libya Nato will ask the RAF to contribute more warplanes to step up ground strikes against Col Muammar Gaddafis forces after the alliance yesterday said a third of the Libyan leaders forces had so far been destroyed. Britains overstretched air force will be asked to find more fighter jets, in spite of committing four extra Tornados for operations over Libya on Monday. The request comes as Nato demands extra aircraft to meet a shortfall created after America pulled out the jets that had carried out more than 50 per cent of the ground strikes against Col Gaddafis forces. We will need more strike assets and that is being addressed, said a Nato official. Britain has stepped up to the mark with four Tornados but will have to do more. Dr Liam Fox, the Defence Secretary, spent much of the weekend during a Middle East trip calling up defence ministers from across Europe asking them to contribute more aircraft, Whitehall sources said. The Ministry of Defence is ready to send more Tornados and other aircraft if they are needed a senior source said. We can send the whole lot if we need to, all 129 of them. There will be an uplift from other nations, including the French, being asked to provide more to fill the gap. The extra demands on the RAF, for operations that are expected to last at least six months, will raise questions over whether the Armed Forces can meet military demands after defence cuts.

Telegraph. The Associated Press is reporting that Col Gaddafi has directly appealed to Barack Obama in a letter to halt the Nato campaign. In the rambling, three-page letter Gaddafi says his country had been hurt more morally than physically by the campaign, and a democratic society could not be built through missiles and aircraft. He also calls Mr Obama "our son" and says he hopes he will win re-election in 2012.

What a mess...

Mooi werk!

Africans say Libyan troops try to make them fight RAS JDIR CAMP, Tunisia (Reuters) - Libyan troops loyal to Muammar Gaddafi are rounding up black African migrants to force them to fight anti-Gaddafi rebels, young African men who fled to Tunisia said on Monday. In separate accounts at this refugee camp, they said they were raided in their homes by soldiers, beaten and robbed of their savings and identity papers, then detained and finally offered money to take up arms for the state. Those who refused were told they would never leave, said Fergo Fevomoye, a 23-year-old who crossed the border on Sunday. verder
