AMSTERDAM - Op internet staat een audiofragment van het gesprek van de Nerlandse helikopter en de verkeerstoren op het vliegveld van Malta. Uit het gesprek blijkt dat de helikopter al verschillende malen naar Malta is gevlogen. Ook blijkt dat de pilote de kluts kwijt raakt als de verkeerstoren suggereert dat de volgende vlucht richting Libi is.
Het moederschip van de helikopter lag ten zuiden van Malta, maar Libi ligt ook precies ten zuiden van Malta. Als de verkeerstoren vraagt of de bestemming wederom richting het zuiden is, raakt de pilote duidelijk van streek in de veronderstelling dat de verkeerstoren al weet heeft van de geheime evacuatiemissie.

Ja dit gaat wel heel ver, maar toch moet er meer achter zitten wat deze missie kennelijk noodzakelijk maakte.quote:

Gaddafi Forces Launch Counterattack, Overcome Defenses In Rebel Town
TRIPOLI, Libya Moammar Gadhafi's forces on Saturday broke through rebel lines at an opposition-held city that is closest to Tripoli in a dawn attack that could prove crucial to the regime's defense of the Libyan capital, witnesses said.
The rebels' setback at the city of Zawiya, 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of Tripoli, was the second in as many days. A large arms and ammunition depot outside the city of Benghazi, the largest city in the rebel-held east of the country, blew up Friday in a massive explosion that completely destroyed an area three times the size of a soccer field.
Ambulance drivers who rushed to the site reported that at least 26 people were killed in the blast.
Associated Press photographers who arrived at the site of the explosion Saturday saw entire buildings, cars and trees flattened and smoldering as a result of the blast.
It was not immediately clear how the depot blew up, but suspicion immediately fell on Gadhafi agents seeking to deny the rebels the arms and ammunition they need to fight their way westward toward the Gadhafi-held city of Sirte on the Mediterranean coast.
The rebels, however, fared better elsewhere, capturing the key oil port of Ras Lanouf from pro-Gadhafi forces in their first military victory in a potentially long, westward march from the east of the country to the capital Tripoli hundreds of miles to the west.
The contrasting fortunes of the two sides over the past 24 hours suggest that the conflict in Libya, which began Feb. 15 with anti-Gadhafi protests, could endure for weeks and maybe months, with neither side mustering enough military power to decisively defeat the other.
Witnesses said Ras Lanouf, about 87 miles (140 kilometers) east of the Gadhafi stronghold of Sirte, fell to rebel hands on Friday night after a fierce battle with pro-regime forces who later fled.
An AP reporter who arrived in Ras Lanouf late Saturday morning saw Libya's red, black and green pre-Gadhafi monarchy flag adopted by the rebels hoisted over the town's oil facilities. The witnesses spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared reprisals.
14.03: China says it has completed the evacuation of all its nationals from Libya after the largest such overseas operation ever undertaken by Beijing, AFP reports. Almost 36,000 were evacuated.

This morning a full scale attack was made on Zawiya. From 7am till 10am. ALL forms of artillery was used. It is being surrounded right now from every direct.

1508: Sky News correspondent Alex Crawford, at Zawiya's hospital, says that within the last 10 or 15 minutes government tanks loaded with soldiers have been rolling in and heading towards Martyrs Square in the centre of the city. She says there was a heavy artillery bombardment lasting about 10 minutes. Since then, the sound of gunfire has died down. Casualties have started arriving at the hospital - many with serious injuries, including a young boy of about 10 whose body peppered with bullets, she adds. There are also reports that government forces have been taking away bodies on the streets to minimise the number of known casualties. Clearly a battle is going on for Zawiya, she concludes.

Nieuw offensief in Zawiyah

Even inhakend op de stammenstructuur. Ik las laatst in de NRC next dat de stammen helemaal niet zo'n grote invloed hebben dan wel wordt aangenomen.Mensen weten bij welke stam ze horen en er wordt ook wel advies e.d. gevraagd aan stamoudsten. Maar er wordt vrij opportunistisch omgegaan met dat advies. Als het even niet goed uitkomt, wordt het genegeerd. De stammenstructuur is dus ook zeker niet te vergelijken met andere afrikaanse landen. Mensen voelen zich meer Libier dan dat ze zich aan een stam verbonden voelen. Geen idee hoe betrouwbaar het bericht is, maar NRC heeft haar bronnen vaak wel redelijk op orde.

USS Kearsarge to be "repositioned" off Libya
The US is repositioning its naval and air forces around Libya, Pentagon spokesman Col. David Lapan stated Monday, Feb. 28, indicating possible military steps to break the standoff between Muammar Qaddafi's army and rebel forces in the fighting for control of the towns commanding the roads to the capital Tripoli where Qaddafi is barricaded. The reported rebel capture of the key towns of Misrata and Zawiya is technically correct. In fact, they are both surrounded by Libyan troops who control their road links with Tripoli. In Misrata, the army has a valuable edge over opposition forces in its control of the local airfield.
The Pentagon spokesman's indeed remarked that there are "various contingency plans" for the North African country where Muammar Qaddafi's forces and rebels in the east "remain locked in a tense standoff."
Most military observers interpreted his remark as referring to potential US military intervention in Libya to break the stalemate. It was strengthened by the imminent redeployment off the Libyan coast of USS Enterprise from the Red Sea and the amphibious USS Kearsarge, which has a fleet of helicopters and about 1,800 Marines aboard.
This US naval movement appeared to be running ahead of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who, speaking in Geneva, Switzerland, earlier Monday said "nothing is off the table" but added "there is no pending naval action planned against Libya."
debkafile's military and intelligence sources report that the presence of the two US warships opposite Libya gives Washington and its allies a flexible option for military intervention should Qaddafi be seen to prevail over the opposition or if the standoff lingers too long. Among the 1,800 marines aboard the Kearsarge are units especially trained for guerrilla or covert raids behind enemy lines. They would have air cover from the Enterprise to protect them from Libyan air and helicopter strikes. They primary mission would be to disable the Libyan air force and put its air fields out of commission. The rebels would not then be stalled by the Libyan ruler's ability to bring in fresh troops and drop them at any point and give them a better chance of carrying the day.
The other "contingency plan" in discussion between Washington and European allies is creating a no-fly zone to protect the people from air assault. The American UN Ambassador Susan Rice said later that Washington is discussing militlary options with its allies but a determination is premature.
On the sanctions front, the US government Monday blocked a record $30 billion in Libyan assets, the largest amount ever frozen, in line with the Obama administration's decision to impose unilateral and multilateral sanctions on Qaddafi.

Het zou later deze maand middels een stemming worden goedgekeurd.
Het rapport was uiteraard geschreven voor de massale protesten van het publiek tegen het regime van Gadhaffi uitbraken, en voordat het regime demonstranten bij duizenden begon af te slachten door het hele land.
De stap om de stemming uit te stellen werd hier en daar met goedkeuring ontvangen, maar sommigen vroegen zich ook af waarom de stemming slechts werd uitgesteld en niet geheel afgeblazen. De VN heeft niet gezegd wanneer de nieuwe stemming zal worden gehouden.

Sources admitted last night that there was huge embarrassment in Whitehall that the SAS mission had backfired.
But there was confidence that the SAS team and the diplomat would be released unharmed within 24 hours after the rebels had made their point. There were no plans last night for a second SAS team to be sent in to secure the release of their colleagues.

MoD silent over report of SAS men captured in Libya

The Ministry of Defence says it will not comment on a claim in the Sunday Times that members of the SAS have been seized by rebel forces in Libya.
In a statement, the MoD said: "We do not comment on the special forces."
The paper claims the unit was involved in a secret mission to put British diplomats in touch with rebels trying to topple Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
It says eight SAS men, in plain clothes but armed, were captured as they escorted the diplomat in eastern Libya.
The paper claims the SAS soldiers were taken to Benghazi, the rebel stronghold, where they are being interrogated.
Troops loyal to Col Gaddafi have clashed with rebel forces in the central town of Zawiya in the last few days amid growing fears of a civil war.
The full statement from the MoD read: "We neither confirm nor deny the story and we do not comment on the special forces."
Geneva-based Human Rights Solidarity group said it was aware that a team of special forces had been seized by Libyan rebels but it did not know which country they were from.
Separately, a group of Dutch special forces was apparently captured by Col Gaddafi's forces in western Libya while trying to assist Dutch nationals to evacuate from the country.
Earlier, the MoD had confirmed Scottish troops were on standby to assist with humanitarian and evacuation operations in Libya.

It was unclear who was shooting, which started at about 5:45 a.m. (0345 GMT), or what caused it. Automatic weapon rounds, some of it heavy calibre, echoed around central Tripoli along with pro-Gaddafi chants and whistling and a cacophony of car horns as vehicles sped through the vicinity.
A government spokesman denied any fighting was under way in Tripoli. "I assure you, I assure you, I assure you, I assure you, there is no fighting going on in Tripoli," said Mussa Ibrahim, a government spokesman.
"Everything is safe. Tripoli is 100 percent under control. What you are hearing is celebratory fireworks. People are in the streets, dancing in the square." He added, however: "I would like to advise not to go there for your safety.

Greek authorities say three people died and 28 others have been hospitalized on the southern island of Crete. They were found on a beach near where two ships carrying migrant workers evacuated from Libya recently arrived.
The Merchant Marine Ministry says authorities were checking whether the 31 men, mainly from Bangladesh, had jumped overboard from two ships that docked arlier Sunday in Crete with a total of about 2,000 evacuees evacuated from Libya, in an attempt to avoid being transferred home.

9:34am Bashir Abudl Gadir, a rebel commander in east Libya, says that his forces had pushed westwards and now controlled the town of al-Nawfaliyah. The town of al-Nawfaliyah is west of Bin Jawad, which rebels took on Saturday.
9:13am Mohammed Ali, speaks live to Al Jazeera from Misurata. He is a member of the civil committee for Misurata affairs, part of the National Council run by anti-Gaddafi protesters. He says that they are firmly in control of the city and are prepared for any attack by Gaddafi's forces.
9:05am Anita McNaught, reporting from Tripoli, says that the gunfire has been going on for 3 hours now. I saw police cars taking off from our hotel but I have no seen any engagement. As the morning progressed, we saw pro-Gaddafi forces on foot and in their vehicles, chanting in celebration.

10:37am Reports coming in that Libyan armed forces loyal to Gaddafi have attacked opposition forces in the east Libyan town of Bin Jawad, near Ras Lanuf. Also, fighter jets have struck near Ras Lanuf and Az Zawiyah, according to witnesses on the ground.
10:32am Funerals have been held in Benghazi for some of at least 39 people killed in an explosion at an arms dump on Friday. The attack is being blamed on Gaddafi's forces. At least 130 more were wounded after the arms depot was struck by two air missiles fifteen minutes apart. Fire Fighters tried to quell a subsequent fire but were blown away by another explosion that ripped through the army base. A local doctor says body parts have been found strewn amongst the debris.
10:09am Everything in the Libyan conflict depends on who you believe, and in the capital, Tripoli, they believe Gaddafi's forces have taken back control of the towns of Az-Zawiyah and Misrata from the rebels. But witnesses have told Al Jazeera the government claims are false.

Allereerst, verdiep je eerst in de betekenis van counterterrorisme, dit beantwoord meteen de vraag waarom protocollen toegepast worden in organisaties. Wat je nu zegt komt namelijk behoorlijk onnozel over. Daarnaast weet je niet wat er daadwerkelijk gespeeld heeft en kun je de inhoud hiervan aan de hand van een artikel niet beoordelen. Het betreft hier namelijk om een geheime missie. Het enige wat naar buiten is gekomen is het feit dat deze mensen wellicht op dit moment vast zitten en dat er naar de toedracht gespeculeerd wordt. Deze mensen zijn getraind om zich in zulke omstandigheden missies uit te voeren, het is niet dat je hier met leken te maken hebt. Overigens ben je niet in handen van groeperingen op het moment dat men zich in hun territorium bevind. Hier is pas van sprake op het moment dat je overmeesterd wordt.quote:
