Wat begon als een voorzichtig probeerseltje is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot een bloeiende reeks waarbij je eindelijk eens wat verder kunt kijken dan de top40 rappers die het de hele dag over geld, geweld en vrouwen hebben.
Alle nieuwtjes over releases, concerten en andere wetenswaardigheden kun je hier kwijt. Van Schooly D tot Coolio, van Brand Nubian tot Dr. Dre, van Marley Marl tot The Neptunes, het maakt niet uit, als het maar wat met hiphop te maken heeft.

ik vind het alleen jammer dat Premier niet met een andere rapper een duo vormde, Guru gaat zo snel vervelen en is een beetje saai vind ik.
Ja, vind Guru een hele cd lang soms ook wel een beetje saai worden, maar goed: GangStarr is verder wel erg vet.

Dat vind ik nou ook, Guru heeft een vrij duf stemgeluid en een beperkte stijl. Gelukkig zijn de producties erg bijzonder.
Over Premier gesproken.. is hier die nieuwe productie voor AZ ("The Come Up") al langsgekomen? Erg herkenbare Premo sound - waar sommige mensen inmiddels een beetje genoeg van hebben, ikzelf stoor me daar niet zo aan en vind het een dope track. Hoorde laatste ook een nieuwe Poet met Premo, "Bang Dis", maar die vond ik niet zo heel erg dope eigenlijk.. veel te zware, langzame beat.
ik vind Premier beats vaak een beetje meer van hetzelfde.... op albums van andere artiesten herken je ze vrij makkelijk.... maar wel vet hoor
Ik vind het altijd wel cool als producers een herkenbare sound hebben, zoals Premier of Pete Rock. Sowieso vind ik het wel relaxed als 1 producer de beats voor een heel album doet, geeft het vaak wat meer eenheid dan 10 verschillende tracks door 10 producers op een album.

Specifically, live instrumentation will be provided on a few tracks ("Goodmorning NY", "Stripes", and "Hell's Winter") by the guitar of Matt Sweeney and the bass of Yo La Tengo's James McNew, while Jello Biafra will impersonate his good friend Dubya on the DJ Shadow-produced "Grand Ol Party Crash", and Daryl Palumbo (of the hardcore band Glassjaw) lends his vocals to "Shoot Frank". El-P works the beats on no less than 8 of the tracks, and RjD2, Blockhead, and Camu Tao also make their presences known behind the boards. There's even a reunion of sorts of the Weatherman on "Weathermen Gang", which features Aesop Rock, El-P, Tame 1, and Yak Ballz on the mic. Hopefully not lost in the shuffle is Cage himself, out for a new kind of blood, on all of these here tracks:
