quote:I have been surprised by The Wounded to be honest. I 've never heard of them before and its quite a revelation. They reminded be a bit of my favorite Anathema's Alternative 4. The lead singer's voice is one hell of a haunt and the second vocals are pretty great. The "electronic parts" of the album e.g. 5th min. "We Are Darker" are very well placed, though I personally want the same emotions created by piano or violins (I do enjoy classical music too). For example imagine "Running Empty" 's intro with violins instead of synth. Of course I don't know what the guys are willing to do but if we could see the electric guitar on a more emotional role (emphasizing sth perhaps e.g Atlantic's ) instead of a backing one (this is when guitar creates the song's tempo and rhythm e.g. "Day Of Joy" where the refrain is vocals and the guitar), I think the band's music wouldn't be overshadowed on certain moments by it. Talking about "Day Of Joy" is there a woman on the band cause I think I hear a woman's voice seconding the lead vocalist? Perhaps, we could hear her solo on a song. It would be an interesting tryout.
So my advice is, I guess, get more classical less metalish. This way the band's talent will stick out more.
I am impressed some times how sites like this help you find out new artists like The Wounded, which as soon as I find an album in a local store, they are gonna pose in my library's shelves and how hostile the media gets with them. Anyways thanks again for the advice. With this thread I have dl'ed too much crap but also rough diamonds and if you can find 2 or 3 artists that you like, that's a free leech well spent
