Milan - PyTh
Inter - the Legend Killer
Udinese - methodmich
Sampdoria - Peter83
Palermo - Dylan Dog
Cagliari - PogueMahone
Lazio - Smeich
Roma - DIGGER
Parma - pfaf
Siena - zjroentje
Fiorentina - ZIOPPA
Chievo Verona - -vaduz-
Atalanta - RedGuy
De volgende teams zijn nog vrij:
Juventus
Messina
Livorno
Bologna
Lecce
Reggina
Brescia
- of je ook in 2005-2006 mee wilt doen;

quote:Cannavaro has Napoli dream
Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro has dreams of ending his stunning career at hometown club Napoli.
The Italian international captain started his playing days with the Azzurri before moving on to Parma, Inter and now the new Italian champions.
"It is the objective of all Napoletani to wear the Napoli shirt in their career," he told Napolimagazine.com.
"Unfortunately I found myself with the club at the wrong time, just as things started to go badly.
"I hope that the club can pick themselves up quickly. We’ll see what happens and I could go back there in a couple of years."
Cannavaro started his career with the Azzurri, making his Serie A debut in March 1993 in a 4-3 defeat at Juventus.
The now 31-year-old was sold by the San Paolo outfit in 1995 in an attempt to help solve their financial problems.
Napoli are currently in Serie C but may still be promoted to the Second Division this term via the play-offs.
quote:Viola to drag Siena down?
There are worrying reports that Fiorentina supporters are planning a pitch invasion if they are relegated on Sunday – effectively dragging rivals Siena down with them.
The Viola are furious at the refereeing error that cost them precious points in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Lazio, as Luciano Zauri should have been sent off and given away a penalty for punching the ball off the line.
Now even a victory against Brescia might not be enough to keep them in the top flight, but angry fans are planning to take the matter into their own hands if the match ends in a draw.
The new zero tolerance policy on crowd trouble will see teams automatically lose a game 3-0 if there is a pitch invasion, even if it is a peaceful one. There are reports coming out of Florence that fans will stage this incident to give Brescia a 3-0 victory – effectively dooming hated rivals Siena to Serie B as well.
Siena will be safe if they manage to beat already relegated Atalanta, but if both ties are heading for a draw then the Viola could leave Serie A with one final act of petulance.
There are other layers to the final round of this season, as Sampdoria have the opportunity to push Bologna into a relegation play-off with a win at the Stadio Dall’Ara. It would be sweet revenge for the Blucerchiati, who were doomed to Serie B in 1999 after an extremely controversial 2-2 draw here.

The Likely Scenarios Saturday 28 May, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last 90 minutes of the season will decide the fourth Champions’ League entrant and the two teams that will join Atalanta in Serie B. Football Italia looks at what the squads need to celebrate.
Udinese and Sampdoria have been locked together in a battle for fourth place for the last few months, but last week’s results enabled the Friuli outfit to take a one-point lead. We’d only see a play-off if Luciano Spalletti’s men were to lose at home to Milan – an unlikely prospect – and Samp draw at Bologna. As long as Udinese win their game, then the Blucerchiati’s result is irrelevant.
That clash at the Stadio Dall’Ara is crucial for another reason, as Bologna are one of nine squads who could go down this weekend. The relegation dogfight has already taken one victim in the form of Atalanta, but there are another two places alongside them.
Lazio, Lecce and Reggina know they will be mathematically safe if they are able to earn a point on Sunday against Palermo, Parma and Inter respectively. These sides would only be dragged into a play-off if they lost in Sicily and at the same time Brescia, Bologna, Parma and Siena all won, while Chievo earned a result at Roma.
Chievo have to wait and see what the future holds for them, as only a victory at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma will ensure them of Serie A safety. A draw would be enough for the Flying Donkeys if Brescia, Bologna, Parma and Siena all failed to win their games, so it’ll be a tense afternoon for new Coach Maurizio D’Angelo.
Bologna were fighting for a UEFA Cup place a month ago, but have slid down the standings and haven’t won in their last 10. A victory over Sampdoria will mathematically ensure their Serie A status, but there is still hope.
Carlo Mazzone’s squad would stay up if they draw with Samp and at the same time at least two of these three scenarios play out: Brescia lose in Florence, Siena fail to beat Atalanta and Parma lose at Lecce. Curiously, Bologna could even lose their game and still be rescued if Atalanta were to beat Siena in Tuscany.
Parma will remain in the top flight if they conquer the Stadio Via del Mare, but face an anxious wait if they don’t manage to improve their dismal away form of two wins, two draws and 14 defeats. The Gialloblu are safe if they draw their game and at least two of the following four scenarios play out: Fiorentina fail to win, Siena don’t get three points, Bologna lose and Brescia lose. Even a defeat at Lecce could see them through if both Fiorentina and Siena end the day empty-handed.
Siena are safe if they beat already doomed Atalanta, unless all the teams ahead of them in the table pick up three points. If this clash ends in a draw, then the most the Bianconeri can hope for is a play-off if at least one of Bologna, Brescia and Parma lose.
Brescia will be mathematically safe with a win away to fellow strugglers Fiorentina. A draw would see them through if Siena fail to win, or if both Bologna and Parma get the same result – draw or defeat. The Rondinelle can even afford to lose in Florence if Siena, Bologna and Parma are all defeated.
Fiorentina are currently in penultimate place with 39 points and face the toughest task of them all. Even a victory over Brescia might not be enough to save the Viola, as they also require one of the following scenarios: Siena don’t beat Atalanta, Chievo lose, one out of Bologna and Parma fail to win, or Bologna and Parma don’t both earn victories. With any other sequence of events, Fiorentina will either enter a play-off or go down directly.

quote:Milan net Jankulovski, confirm Udinese
Udinese have revealed that star midfielder Marek Jankulovksi has joined Italian giants Milan.
A deal was reportedly agreed in January and the Bianconeri have today insisted that the Czech ace will play for the Rossoneri next term.
"I can confirm that the player has gone to Milan," Udinese chief Giampaolo Pozzo said on Monday afternoon.
The San Siro giants have yet to comment on the story but it does seem that Jankulovski has finally moved on.
Jankulovski was close to leaving the Stadio Friuli last summer but moves to Juventus and Inter collapsed.
The former Napoli player, 28, is one of numerous Udinese stars who have caught the eye this term.
The club have qualified for the Champions’ League after a stunning season which has inevitably seen other players linked with an exit.
"If Parma’s Alberto Gilardino is worth Ł35m then our Vicenzo Iaquinta is valued at Ł15m," added Pozzo.
"David Pizarro? There have been a lot of rumours regarding him but we will only discuss his proposed sale when a club is really interested."
Striker Iaquinta has also been linked with Milan, while Pizarro is a target for Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma.
Jankulovski is Milan’s second signing after the club swooped for Swiss international midfielder Johann Vogel from PSV last week.
quote:Prandelli: I want Fiorentina
Cesare Prandelli is close to taking charge of the Viola after publicly announcing they would be his first choice.
“I have met President Andrea Della Valle and he really made a good impression,” said the former Parma boss. “I am at his disposal to Coach the side. I have received other offers, but Fiorentina are top of my list of preferences.”
Prandelli resigned from Roma just a few weeks before the start of the season so that he could nurse his wife through a serious illness, but she is on the road to recovery and he now wishes to resume his career.
The Giallorossi are still hopeful of tempting him back for a second attempt, but the Viola – safe from relegation following a final day 3-0 win over Brescia – are in pole position.
“Florence is the kind of place where we can play my kind of football. Their safety was more than deserved and the squad did well to keep cool heads when the situation became critical. The fanbase is also extraordinary and always has been.”
Fiorentina have been through three Coaches already this term, as Emiliano Mondonico, Sergio Buso and Dino Zoff helped the side to safety.
“We are happy that a great professional like Prandelli is ready to join our plans for the future, just as other Coaches are interested in our proposals,” noted Director General Fabrizio Lucchesi.
“From this week we will begin creating next season’s team and the starting point is the Coach. We have a list of names to work with and we’ll make a decision within the next week or two.”
Other potential candidates are Francesco Guidolin, who has resigned from Palermo, ex-Roma boss Luigi Del Neri and Lecce’s Zdenek Zeman.
Meanwhile, there is another new arrival at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. As has been rumoured for months, Lecce director of sport Pantaleo Corvino has resigned and over the next few days will make his move to Fiorentina official. Corvino is the transfer guru who discovered young talents such as Valeri Bojinov and Javier Ernesto Chevanton.
Strachanquote:Dellas move to Pompey close
Roma defender Trainos Dellas is close to joining Portsmouth. The ex-Sheffield United defender is leaving the Serie A giants after reportedly being forced to take a Ł20,000 pay cut.
Inter target Pires
Inter are said to be looking at Arsenal winger Robert Pires. The Frenchman has just one more season on his contract but Inter boss Roberto Mancini, a keen admirer, wants him this summer. Pires has been reported as being distinctly unimpressed with the way talks over a new deal have progressed. Reports in the Italian media suggest that Inter will try to test Pires' desire to stay in North London with an attractive offer to join Serie A.
Ł35m Man U bid for Buffon
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to launch a Ł35m bid for Juventus 'keeper Gianluigi Buffon. The Italian is Fergy's number one target after ditching Roy Carroll. United's new owner Malcolm Glazier has promised Sir Alex a Ł100m transfer kitty, but he will only be allowed to spend Ł20m a year. The United manager hopes to persuade the Serie A Champions to accept a down-payment followed by instalments for the world's number one net-minder. However, whether Juve will sell their prize asset is very much open to debate.
Seedorf a waste of time
Milan's Clarence Seedorf will never become a target for new Celtic manager Gordon Strachan. "I still don't know what he does," said Strachan. "He is the one Milan player I've never seen be the star man." The Dutch midfielder has lifted the Champions League three times with as many different clubs
Roma move ‘possible’, says Zeman
Lecce boss Zdenek Zeman has admitted that he could win the race to become the next Roma Coach.
The Czech tactician has been linked with a return to the Italian capital and he’s opened the door for a summer switch.
"I had a very good relationship with President Franco Sensi," stated Zeman on Monday afternoon.
"Could I return to the Giallorossi bench? I’m not quitting the game so it is possible. Everybody would like the chance to boss Roma."
The capital outfit are looking for a new boss given that caretaker Coach Bruno Conti will stand down after the Coppa Italia Final next month.
Zeman is a contender as his Lecce contract expires in June and it is still not clear whether he will remain.
However, Zeman also revealed last week that he has been approached by Palermo to replace Francesco Guidolin.
To complicate matters further, Guidolin has joined Giovanni Trapattoni, Serse Cosmi and Luciano Spalletti as possible Roma targets.
Even if the latter insists that he hasn’t received any type of offer from the Stadio Olimpico outfit.
"The only thing I can say for sure is that I haven’t been contacted by any other clubs," the Udinese tactician stated.
Wat moet Toni in jouw ogen doen DD? blijven bij Palermo?quote:Player of the Week: Toni (Palermo)
The fact that Palermo’s Luca Toni has been called into the Italy squad for the Norway game should come as no surprise. After all, the 28-year-old has just underlined how good a player he really is after a simply sublime season at the Stadio Renzo Barbera. The Rosaneri finished the campaign in sixth, a League position which owes much to the goals of their lanky striker.
Toni bagged a brace on the final day of the season on Sunday in the 3-3 draw with Lazio. It was the perfect ending to a campaign in which few expected his side or himself to make such an impact.
There was no doubt that Toni was the club’s main attacking threat. He’d already scored an amazing 30 goals in Serie B last year, as the Sicilian giants won the Second Division to ensure promotion. But how many of you really fancied him to net 20 times in Serie A this time around?
The Pavullo nel Frignano-born ace first caught the eye of Italian fans after a fine debut Serie A season back in 2000-01 with Vicenza. He netted nine goals in 31 games which earned him a big money move to Brescia. He repaid the Stadio Rigamonti outfit with 13 goals in 28 matches – which was his most prolific season in the Italian First Division before this term.
Yet Toni’s stay with the Lombard outfit turned sour after an injury-plagued second year with the club. They started to have doubts over his ability and a move to the ambitious Palermo followed. He may have opted to drop down a Division but it was a decision that re-ignited his career.
The former Modena and Treviso player instantly became a hit with the Palermo public, who celebrated with real enthusiasm last September when Toni scored on his competitive international debut in the 2-1 win over Norway at the Barbera. He followed that strike with a super nine months of football, not only scoring crucial goals but also working hard for the rest of his team.
Toni’s form has simply illustrated why his name was being linked with the likes of Milan last summer and why he is on many clubs’ wish-lists. Yet he’ll have to think long and hard about leaving a club who have now entered his name in their folklore. At the start of this season, no Palermo player had netted more than 15 goals in a single top-flight campaign. Yet that particular club record, set by Dante Di Maso in 1950-51, has not only been beaten but destroyed by Toni – a player destined to become a Palermo legend.

quote:Azzurri: Italy lose injured Gila
Alberto Gilardino has dropped out of the World Cup qualifier in Norway with an injury, so Udinese’s Vincenzo Iaquinta has taken his place in the squad.
The Parma hitman was set to start alongside Antonio Cassano in Oslo on Saturday evening, but he has been forced to leave the Coverciano training ground due to a recurring tendon problem.
Gilardino has not been lucky of late despite netting 23 goals in Serie A, as he was booked and will therefore be suspended for the first leg of the relegation play-off with Bologna on June 14.
This is the second call-up for Iaquinta, who made his international debut in the recent friendly test against Iceland on March 30.
Gilardino’s absence and Iaquinta’s relative lack of experience at this level pushes Inter’s Christian Vieri or Palermo giant Luca Toni to the forefront of Coach Marcello Lippi’s plans against Norway.
Surprisingly, the injury did not prompt Lippi to recall Francesco Totti, Alessandro Del Piero or Vincenzo Montella - all controversially left at home.

Juve are also keen to wrap up the deal as soon as possible given that Inter and Real Madrid are also interested in the former Bari starlet.
The Stadio Olimpico side will now have to decide what to do with Cassano as his contract expires in 2006.
The club have already extended the contracts of Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti but an agreement with Cassano may be difficult.
The cost of keeping the 23-year-old would be high and it may make more sense to cash in on him, especially as they will now be paying Totti Ł7.5m-a-season.
It was believed that Juve would offer cash and Shabani Nonda to the Giallorossi but that now looks unlikely.
Reports in Italy today suggest that Nonda has failed a medical and therefore will not complete a summer move to Juve from Monaco.
Bayern Munich stopper Robert Kovac has passed his medical and he is set to be confirmed as a Juve player very soon.
Meanwhile, Olivier Kapo could be heading back to France. The winger has failed to settle in Turin since his move from Auxerre and Monaco are keen on his services.
quote:Iaquinta ready to move on
Vincenzo Iaquinta is ready to turn his back on Udinese despite the prospect of Champions’ League football next season.
The Bianconeri have qualified for the European Cup but the striker has dreams of a big summer move.
"It is the objective of all players to join a great club," Iaquinta stated. "I just hope that Udinese don’t ask too much for me."
However, the former Azzurrini player admitted that he may still remain at the Stadio Friuli next term.
"I’m curious to see what boss Luciano Spalletti does," he continued. "I get on well with him and staying at Udinese together may be the right choice."
Iaquinta was called into the Italy squad on Monday as a replacement for the injured Alberto Gilardino.
He’s now hoping to make an appearance in the World Cup qualifier at Norway on Saturday evening.
"It is very satisfying to have been included in the squad again," he underlined. "I hope to fight for a first team shirt.
"The absence of Francesco Totti and Alex Del Piero? I’m saddened that they are not here but they remain great players."
quote:Juve could sell Emo for Real
Juventus and Real Madrid could decide to swap Emerson and Walter Samuel this summer, according to an Italian football agent.
Reports have suggested that the Bianconeri may release the Brazilian in return for the central defender – who worked with boss Fabio Capello at Roma last season.
And now Dario Canovi, a respected football representative, has added more fuel to the fire.
"It’s not a story without foundation," he told Spq Radio. "I really think that it could happen. It would also explain why Juve are looking at certain types of players, like Mozart."
The Reggina player has been associated with the Turin giants for some months and Canovi wouldn’t be surprised if the move occurred.
"His switch to Juventus is probable and very plausible," he added. "As far as I know, their interest in him is very real.
"It is also true that other clubs like Milan like him but I think the Old Lady are on the verge of netting him."
Canovi also suggested that Real Madrid were keen on Shunsuke Nakamura, Mozart’s Reggina teammate.
"There is an interest," he insisted. "It’s an old story as the Spaniards fell in love with him before he moved to the Amaranti."
quote:Parma decimated by suspensions
Parma will be without six suspended players for the first-leg of their Serie A survival play-off with Bologna.
The Disciplinary Commission have today confirmed that Alessandro Contini, Jorge Bolano, Daniele Bonera, Domenico Morfeo, Alberto Gilardino and Fabio Vignaroli have been handed one-match bans.
The loss of Bonera, Morfeo and Gilardino, who has netted 23 League goals this term, is a particular blow to the Tardini outfit.
Bologna boss Carlo Mazzone has just one suspension to deal with in the form of Brazilian defender Juarez.
The two teams, who finished the season level on 42 points, will face each other at Parma on June 14 before the return at the Dall’Ara on June 18.
Promotion chasing Torino have incredibly sacked boss Ezio Rossi with just two games of the season remaining.
The Serie B outfit took the decision on Tuesday with the sleeping giants sitting joint third in the table.
Although Toro look set to take part in the play-offs, they’ve shown Rossi the door for failing to net an automatic promotion spot which Empoli and Genoa currently occupy.
The Granata will appoint director general Renato Zaccarelli as Rossi’s replacement for the club’s remaining games.
quote:Gilardino talks on hold
Milan say they won’t make a move for Alberto Gilardino until after Parma’s survival play-off with Bologna.
The Gialloblu will sell the striker in the summer but they are still trying to secure their Serie A future after finishing level on points with the Dall’Ara outfit.
"Parma have two very important games with Bologna coming up and we will not disturb them until after those games," said Milan chief Adriano Galliani.
The Rossoneri are understood to have already agreed terms with the player but no fee has been ironed out between the two clubs.
There were suggestions that Milan were no longer interested in the Italian after Parma slapped a Ł35m price tag on him.
But Galliani’s comments today suggest that the former Piacenza and Verona player is a primary objective.
The official also confirmed that boss Carlo Ancelotti would still be sitting on the Milan bench next term.
"I can’t do anything to block all of this Ancelotti talk but he will stay," he said. "I’m ready to put my hand in the fire to prove it."
Milan have also been associated with Lazio full-back Massimo Oddo, as a valid alternative for Marcos Cafu.
"Oddo? Who knows? We’ll have to wait and see," responded Galliani. "There is still plenty of time, three months in fact, for transfers."

quote:Serie A scraps play-offs
Parma-Bologna looks set to be the last relegation play-off in the top flight, as from next season there are also changes on artificial pitches and suspensions.
The current set-up in Serie A and B rules that if two teams finish the campaign level on points, a two-legged play-off is decreed to decide who gets the place.
If more than two sides are locked together, then a mini-League is drawn up of their results against each other throughout the season. This is what happened last week, as Fiorentina, Parma and Bologna all concluded on 42 points, but the Viola’s record against the other two was the best, so they escaped the play-off.
Today the Lega Calcio agreed that from next term the mini-League would be used to decide who is relegated without the need for another match. So, for example, had that rule been implemented this season, Parma would’ve gone straight down to Serie B as their record against the other two was the worst. Goal difference will continue to count for nothing.
“There is not enough room in the football calendar to fit two play-off games in anymore,” explained Lega Calcio Vice-President Maurizio Zamparini.
There will also be other changes to the rule-book. Artificial pitches will be accepted in the top flight, while matches suspended due to increment weather or other unavoidable causes will be resumed from the same minute and scoreline rather than replayed in their entirety
quote:Miccoli close to Viola agreement
Fiorentina are expected to complete the signing of Fabrizio Miccoli from Juventus next week.
The striker spent this term at the Viola after he was netted in a co-ownership deal with the Bianconeri last summer.
Now Miccoli, the Viola and the Turin giants are ready to reach an agreement which will satisfy all parties.
"Everything will be decided next week," stated Francesco Caliandro, the former Perugia star’s agent.
"The club must first decide on their new Coach and sporting director before thinking about the squad.
"But everyone knows that Fabrizio wants to stay at this club.
"We already took steps last year so that he would remain at Fiorentina for next season."
Enzo Maresca is also being tipped to complete a similar move from Juventus, but left-back Giorgio Chiellini will be recalled to the Delle Alpi.
Meanwhile, Martin Jorgensen is hoping that Fiorentina will strike a deal with Udinese so that he can continue his Tuscan adventure.
"I don’t know what will happen," his representative told Fiorentina.it. "It is a decision which the two clubs will have to decide.
"All I can say is that Martin is happy in Florence and he still has a desire to prove his worth to the fans."
quote:Chelsea turn to Gilardino
Chelsea are in pole position to sign Alberto Gilardino after Parma reportedly accepted a Ł30m offer for the player.
It was believed that Milan were favourites to sign the striker, closely followed by new champions Juventus.
However, speculation suggests that the Premiership outfit are now leading the race, after they turned their attention to Gilardino following Inter’s refusal to sell Adriano.
Milan were hopeful of concluding a deal for the 23-year-old once Parma’s survival play-off games against Bologna were over.
They are believed to have already agreed terms with the player, while they were hopeful of reaching a deal with the Gialloblu over a transfer fee.
However, the Rossoneri are seemingly only prepared to offer around Ł20m – substantially lower than Chelsea’s alleged bid.
Gilardino himself has stated on many occasions that he would prefer to remain in Italy, but the London club are ready to offer him Ł5m-a-season for the next five years.
More should be known next week once Parma chief Luca Baraldi returns from his mini-holiday on Sunday evening.
Chelsea have admitted they want a new centre-forward and Gilardino’s record of scoring 23 League goals in each of the last two campaigns hasn’t gone unnoticed.

quote:Spalletti confirms Udinese split
Luciano Spalletti is on the verge of becoming the new Roma boss after admitting that his Udinese stint is over.
The tactician still has one-year left on his Bianconeri contract but he’s today confirmed that he is leaving the outfit.
"My three-year cycle at Udinese is over," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I won’t change my mind.
"Football is made of cycles and this one is over. I don’t think I can guarantee this club qualification in next season’s Champions’ League preliminaries."
Udinese don’t want to lose the tactician after he led the club into next season’s European Cup.
But the former Empoli and Sampdoria boss is looking for a new challenge after his heroics at the Stadio Friuli.
"The club asked me to stay and become Technical Director but I want to remain on the field of play," continued Spalletti.
The Giallorossi are now expected to hire the Coach even if he insists he’s had no talks with the capital outfit.
"I’ve not been contacted officially by anybody," he explained. "I hope to find a suitable solution for myself.
"Roma? At this moment in time I really can’t make any comment about them."
Spalletti is set to be handed a three-year contract and could be confirmed as the new Roma boss in the next few days.

quote:Chiellini ‘rejects’ Juventus switch
Giorgio Chiellini has revealed that he wants to snub a return to Juventus in favour of remaining at Fiorentina.
The Italian champions have confirmed that they will "undoubtedly" buy the Viola’s share in the player after agreeing a co-ownership deal last summer.
But Chiellini, now an Italian international regular, would rather stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
"It is my desire to stay here," he told Fiorentina.it. "I’ll ask the club to find a way to keep me. Everything should be sorted out by the end of the month."
Chiellini would prefer to stay in Tuscany as he would be guaranteed first team football, rather than try to displace Gianluca Zambrotta in Turin.
He’s also keen to work under Cesare Prandelli, who is likely to be named as the new Fiorentina boss.
"Prandelli is a Coach who would be good for me," he added. "I don’t know him but a lot of people speak well of him, he knows how to improve youngsters."
Meanwhile, the Viola could also sign Matteo Ferrari from Roma if Prandelli is handed control of the team.
The defender performed expertly under Prandelli at Parma but struggled badly without him at Roma this season.

quote:Lazio ponder Le Guen option
Former Lyon boss Paul Le Guen is a surprise contender to take over at Lazio, after holding talks with President Claudio Lotito.
The Frenchman arrived in Italy yesterday and is understood to have met the Biancocelesti chief at Villa San Sebastiano last night.
Lazio are looking for a new Coach after Giuseppe Papadopulo confirmed that he would be leaving at the end of this month.
Le Guen is available following his decision to quit Lyon the day after leading them to a fourth consecutive championship.
He has stated that he wants to land a foreign job and has subsequently been linked with Olympiakos and Fenerbache.
But a move to Serie A would be far more enticing for Le Guen, who is considered as one of Europe’s most promising tacticians.
However, Le Guen is unlikely to land the post unless he is willing to accept a relatively low salary.
Whispers suggest that he is looking for around Ł700,000-a-season, but the Olimpico’s financial situation means Lotito is only able to offer half that amount.
A new meeting could take place in the next few days even if former Lecce and Atalanta boss Delio Rossi remains the No 1 candidate to take over.
Meanwhile, Gabriele Martino has resigned as the club’s sporting director after just six months in Rome.
quote:Video evidence suspends Vieri
Christian Vieri will miss the first two games of the new Serie A season after he was caught on camera striking a Reggina player, while Genoa are also hit hard after a mass brawl.
Vieri was spotted lashing out at Ivan Franceschini during the 0-0 draw with Reggina at the San Siro on May 29. TV evidence was used and the Disciplinary Commission opted for a two-match ban – now the expected sentence for any off the ball incident.
“The images show Franceschini putting pressure on Vieri with close marking, including the use of his arms. Vieri turned towards the Reggina player and struck him on the face with one hand, pushing him away with the other. The gesture was not part of normal play and will therefore be considered violent and intentional.”
The Disciplinary Commission was also forced to report on the mass brawl that followed the final whistle of Sunday evening’s 2-2 draw at the Stadio Garilli. Genoa were held by Piacenza and therefore had to postpone their promotion party, but the tension spilled out on to the pitch.
Genoa defender Andrea Sottil has been handed a six-match ban for punching an opponent, while teammates Alessio Scarpi and Gigi Sartor are suspended for two games and Roberto Stellone for one. Piacenza player Salvatore Masiello picks up a one-match ban.
quote:b]Fiorentina opt for Prandelli
Cesare Prandelli is the new Coach of Fiorentina after he signed a contract with the Serie A club on Tuesday.
The tactician replaces Dino Zoff on the Viola bench after he reportedly signed a one-year deal.
Prandelli has been linked with the job since January and he’s finally put pen to paper with the Tuscan outfit.
Prandelli, who will be unveiled to the media at the end of this week, returns to the game after spending the last year on the sidelines.
He left Parma for Roma last summer but quit just weeks into his capital stint in order to stay close to his sick wife.
The former Juventus midfielder is the club’s second ‘signing’, following the arrival of sporting director Pantaleo Corvino from Lecce last week.
quote:Inter promise ‘surprise’ signing
Inter are today being linked with a host of big name players after they promised fans a ‘surprise’ signing.
The Nerazzurri had previously stated that they would act cautiously on the transfer market this summer, but owner Massimo Moratti is now prepared to make a major swoop.
"I will give the fans a surprise," he stated. "What? Well I can’t tell you that otherwise it wouldn’t be a surprise would it?"
Speculation has suggested that Moratti could pick up his present for the Nerazzurri faithful from La Liga.
Barcelona ace Ronaldinho has been associated with the club for some time, as has Real Madrid’s Michael Owen.
Brazilian starlet Robinho is another option even if he seems almost certain to be joining Real this summer.
However, the most likely ‘surprise’ will probably come from Roma in the shape of either Antonio Cassano or Cristian Chivu.
Cassano is believed to be on his way out of the Giallorossi even if Juventus are heavily interested in the attacking talent.
While Chivu would be an excellent addition to the side given their problems defensively this term.
Inter almost signed the Romanian two years ago but didn’t take up their option on him which allowed Roma to swoop for the then Ajax man.
Meanwhile, a deal for Real Madrid winger Santiago Solari has apparently already been agreed. The Argentine will sign a three-year contract with Inter in the near future.
