In 2023, not a single ship sailed under the Eswatini flag. Yet in 2024, 26 ships suddenly appeared under the flag of this tiny country in southern Africa which does not even have access to the sea.

Most of these vessels are tankers. There is no reliable data on the ownership of 16 of the ships. However, evidence indicates that some Eswatini-flagged tankers have been involved in transporting oil from Russia and Iran.

The Ukrainian embassy in Mexico on Wednesday asked the Mexican government to arrest Russian leader Vladimir Putin if he attends the inauguration that he was invited to of president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum.

Kyiv's delegation, which called Putin a "war criminal," also thanked Mexico for extending an invitation to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky for the ceremony on October 1.

In March 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Putin on allegations of war crimes over the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia following Moscow's invasion in early 2022.

Juan Ramon de la Fuente, tapped to be Sheinbaum's foreign minister, said it was "standard protocol" to invite the leaders of every country that Mexico shares diplomatic relations with to the inauguration, including both Russia and Ukraine.

Sheinbaum, set to be Mexico's first female president, won a historic victory in Mexico's general election on June 2 and is set to begin her six-year term in October.

Putin and Zelensky were among the world leaders to offer her congratulations.

Het is gewoon een meesterlijke zet van Oekra�ne. En als zij dan ook nog eens de nucleaire powerplant weten te bereiken dan is dat prima.

De dingen stapelen zich op, en er komt een punt dat de mensen er genoeg van gaan hebben.

Ik blijf hoop houden. Of dit nu vals is of niet.

A drone strike against a military airbase in Russia's Lipetsk Oblast on Aug. 9 set off a chain explosion that detonated more than 700 bombs, a Ukrainian intelligence source told the Kyiv Independent.

Earlier, Russian authorities said that a fire broke out at a military airfield, and an energy facility was damaged in a drone attack in the oblast. The source told the Kyiv Independent that there were fighter jets and helicopters stored at the airbase. It is unknown how many were damaged or destroyed in the attack.

The source said the attack was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in collaboration with the Ukrainian army and the Special Operation Forces. The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces confirmed the attack on the airfield but said that the damage was still being clarified.
