In the morning of August 6, the governor of Russia’s Kursk region reported an attempt by Ukrainian forces to break through at the Kursk border.

On August 7, Russian media reported that enemy forces have advanced towards the city of Sudzha in Kursk region, despite Russian officials stating that advance of enemy forces deeper into Russia in the Kursk direction has been halted.

Here’s what happened today at a glance, according to Russian media:
• Almost 20 settlements in the Kursk region are reportedly under full or partial control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
• On August 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed the deaths of military personnel in the Kursk region and the loss of several settlements for the first time since the beginning of the escalation.
• Russian media reports 6 Bradley IFVs spotted in the region.
• Telegram channels report that the fighting is ongoing 29 kilometers away from the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant.
• Russian media reports that a total of 300 soldiers may have surrendered to Ukrainian Armed Forces, including many conscripts.
• Russian sources also highlight that defensive fortifications in the Kursk region were breached within a day, costing 15 billion rubles.
• Considering all the advances reportedly made by Ukrainian forces, it appears that Russia has now lost full control over an area of up to 430 square kilometers.
