Ik zei dat de NAVO betrokken moest worden bij deze oorlog. Dat hoeft niet direct te betekenen dat de NAVO oorlog gaat voeren. Ik noemde verschillende manieren om een verdedigende rol te hebben. Om dus de regels uit te rekken. Iets waar Rusland/Putin ook erg goed in is, of denkt te zijn. Waarom zit jij de hele tijd de vermeende vredesduif uit te hangen terwijl je weet dat Rusland als een beest tekeer zal gaan tegen de burgers van Oekrane als zij de oorlog verliezen? Gelukkig staat daar 1 enorme geruststellende gedachte tegenover. Tot op heden weten ze bar weinig te bereiken in Oekrane

The White House has announced that a new package of sanctions against Russia is set to go into effect following the death of opposition leader Aleksei Navalny in a Siberian prison camp.
The administration said the package would be released on Friday. This comes after President Joe Biden’s comments to reporters on Monday that he was considering new sanctions.
“We already have sanctions, but we are considering additional sanctions, yes,” he said.
On Friday, Mr Biden blamed the death of Mr Navalny on Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that while the US was unsure what took place, it was “a consequence of something that Putin and his thugs did”.
That was after Russian prison authorities announced earlier on Friday that Mr Navalny “felt unwell” after going for a walk and became unconscious “almost immediately”.
On Tuesday, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby declined to share any details regarding the new sanctions or how they would interact with the strong sanctions already put in place following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago.
Mr Kirby said the sanctions will be “specifically supplemented with additional sanctions regarding Mr Navalny’s death,” according to the AP.
While he noted that the US doesn’t yet know Mr Navalny’s cause of death, Mr Kirby went on to put the blame Mr Putin.
“Regardless of the scientific answer, Putin’s responsible for it,” he told the press.
The opposition leader’s widow Yulia Navalnaya lives in exile outside Russia. On Monday, she accused Russian authorities of hiding her husband’s body and “refusing to give it to his mother”.
She also accused the Kremlin of poisoning Mr Navalny, adding that they were keeping his remains to let the traces of the poison dissipate. The Kremlin was also accused of poisoning Mr Navalny in 2020, which led to his hospitalisation in Germany.
Upon being released from care, Mr Navalny and his wife returned to Russia, where he was promptly arrested at a Moscow airport.
Mr Biden told the press he was weighing “a whole number of options” after the announcement of Mr Navalny’s death last week.
The president also used the opposition leader’s death to argue for more aid for Ukraine in the face of indiscriminate violence and attacks on dissent from the Russian state.
On Monday, a reporter asked Mr Biden: “Would you go as far as to say that Aleksei Navalny’s blood is on the hands of House Republicans right now?”
“I wouldn’t use that term,” he said. “They’re making a big mistake not responding. Look, the way they’re walking away from the threat of Russia, the way they’re walking away from Nato, the way they’re walking away from meeting our obligations, it’s just shocking. I mean, they’re wild. I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Asked if Mr Navalny’s death could push House Republicans to take up Ukraine aid, Mr Biden said: “I hope so. But I’m not sure anything is going to change.”

Dat is inderdaad een flink stuk meer. Al wil het niet zeggen dat ze deze volledig onder controle hebben natuurlijk. Maar het geeft Oekrane in elk geval een relatief lang stuk om de vijand aan te zien komen en daar actie op te ondernemen.
Dit in tegenstelling tot bijna alle andere conflicten.

Greens fading
The big losers are expected to be the Greens, who could drop from 68 seats to less than 50. Climate change has moved down the list of European voters’ priorities, while demonstrations by farmers against domestic and EU agriculture policies have flared up since the turn of the year.
Von der Leyen was narrowly elected in 2019 with the support of the EPP, the centre-left Socialists and Democrats, the Greens and the liberal Renew group, which includes the Dutch VVD and D66 parties.
Wilders called Putin’s government a “barbaric regime” following the death of Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny on Friday, but he has also called for military aid to Ukraine to be stopped and claimed Ukrainians were fleeing to the Netherlands “not because of the war, but for free housing, healthcare and jobs“.
In 2017 he spoke out against “hysterical Russophobia” and said he regarded Russia as an ally in the fight against terrorism and migration. The following year he visited Moscow as a guest of the Duma.

SkyRanger R70
SkyRanger R70 is a multi-purpose unmanned aerial system developed by Teledyne FLIR.
It includes multi-rotor vertical takeoff and landing drones that can perform reconnaissance and logistics functions.
The drones are equipped with an autonomous navigation system, which allows the drone to operate under manual or autonomous control without being tied to satellite signals.
The manufacturer claims that the onboard computer is capable of automatically capturing targets at a distance of up to 5 km and identifying up to 10 moving objects simultaneously.
The SkyRanger R70 drones are equipped with a carbon fiber and magnesium frame. They can operate at altitudes up to 4,500 meters above sea level and withstand sustained winds of 65 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h.
They are capable of carrying a payload of up to 3.5 kg, which makes it possible to use the unmanned platform, in addition to reconnaissance, as a means of delivering cargo or dropping ammunition.
The report states that the drones will be equipped with cameras with a thermal imaging channel to detect heat-contrast targets and operate in the dark.
Presumably, this refers to EO IR Mk II optical stations with thermal and daylight channels.
Overall, since February 2022, Canada has provided over $2.4 billion in military assistance to Ukraine. This includes Leopard 2 tanks, armored vehicles, anti-tank and small arms, M777 howitzers and ammunition, drones, winter clothing, etc.
