So I have a question for everyone. Let's just assume you guys will win in May. Do you think it will be between Rotterdam and Amsterdam as the host city? Which one is more likely, would love to hear your thoughts.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves but I think that Amsterdam is more likely, as it is the capital of the Netherlands. And Ziggo Dome is a bigger arena than Ahoy. I think Amsterdam has the most change to organise Eurovision 2020 due to more capacity and being the capital.
It depends on the venues available. Both Ahoy in Rotterdam and the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam (which is pretty much next to AFAS, where EIC will be) are serious contenders.quote:

The plus side to Ahoy is that it is a huge complex with several other conference rooms and such, so the press centre can then be under the same roof as the arena.
However, the plus side to Ziggo Dome is that it has a slightly bigger capacity and it's pretty easy to build a new stage there. I also have the feeling that the EBU will prefer Amsterdam as host city.
We from Fok forum meet up in a pub in Rotterdam every two months. If we win and the ESC will be in Rotterdam next year, we can show you

Personally I would like Rotterdam to be the host city, great modern upcoming city (and they do have a venue that I think will do just fine (Rotterdam Ahoy)).

Not once have we been an early bookie favorite, so this is a moment to cherish, no matter what happens (but it sure isn't healthy for our stress levels

Well, planning is still in its infancy. But I am looking at potential arenas as the most important thing for me is the proximity of my accommodation to the arena. It's really tough to guess the Top 3 at this point but I feel like the Betting Odds are fairly accurate and close to my prediction.
Tough question, every host city had its pros and cons. I think my favorite ESC was 2016 in Stockholm...so much fun.quote:

Rotterdam and Amsterdam are really close in distance and have great train connections (41 minutes with the intercitytrain and quite affordable), so even if you do end up in the different city from te organising one, it shouldn't really give much problems.quote:

He is the one that does the tv comments during Eurovision shows and he is in the comittee that chooses the artist anually. Do you know Cornald? Capital city, bigger venue, easier to reach because of Schiphol Airport and to be honest for most tourists Amsterdam = The Netherlands.

The only thing that could keep Eurovision from being hosted in Amsterdam would be because of the fact that for almost a full two weeks, there will be an influx of media, artists, delegations and fans in the area. The area is big enough but the Dutch football competition is still in its final competition stage in the first weeks of May, which means that they would have to double up on security on match days since the Amsterdam Arena is slap in the middle of all the venues.
If we win (jinxetty jinx jinxxxxx), there will be enough time to plan the Football competition schedule but the Ziggo Dome and maybe AFAS will have to pre-empt for preparations. This means they would miss out on lucrative bookings from other artists (there’s basically shows there at least three times a week) and I’m not sure if they want to miss out on this financially.
With the Ahoy’ in Rotterdam, you have a venue that’s also very suitable (but with a slightly lower capacity) and which has more ‘free time’ in between shows since Ziggo Dome is basically the go-to venue for any big artist performing in the Netherlands nowadays.

I also think it will be Amsterdam (oh mother of all jinxes). But I really like the vibe of Rotterdam, it’s a completely different city compared to Amsterdam or Utrecht.
Also, hotel accommodation is generally cheaper in Rotterdam (or better, less expensive) so Rotterdam wouldn’t be a bad choice at all.

Looks like anyone, OGAE-member or not, is able to get tickets for Amsterdam Calling, you can get them through the website of the Melkweg venue:

I’ve never attended it before but from what I’ve heard and read on the website it’s more like a celebration of Eurovision with mostly former Dutch entries of yesteryear, EyeCue and the legendary SuRie. And lots of songs played by DJ’s. So it’s more like a party celebrating the past. I’m sure it’s tons of fun with lots of dancing and singing along. I doubt it can top the sheer greatness that is Eurovision in Concert though.

Thanks so much for the information and the links. I doubt that tickets will sell out so I will decide in a couple of days. 30 Euros is quite a lot for this event but then again, how many times do I get to attend a Eurovision party? I really appreciate everyone's input.

Kheb vandaag ook even gedoneerd via hun PayPal. Anders had ik de hele week in Eurovision village bier gekocht, dus kon er wel vanaf.
