I’m way late to the party but here’s a big WHATSUPYAFOOL to Matt, thank you so much for stopping by and answering our questions and for not being freaked out by the blind (but justified) adoration here. Your livestreams and comments kept us sane during the total meltdown that took place after the first rehearsal last year. Thank you.

Do your coworkers know about your love for Eurovision and are you able to talk about it with them, seeing as you’re in the US? I can imagine it’s hard finding people IRL to talk about your passion where you live.

Personally I think it is a no brainer to be Amsterdam and if it is Amsterdam there is really only one venue that can host is, which is the Ziggo Dome.

Capital city, bigger venue, easier to reach because of Schiphol Airport and to be honest for most tourists Amsterdam = The Netherlands.

The only thing that could keep Eurovision from being hosted in Amsterdam would be because of the fact that for almost a full two weeks, there will be an influx of media, artists, delegations and fans in the area. The area is big enough but the Dutch football competition is still in its final competition stage in the first weeks of May, which means that they would have to double up on security on match days since the Amsterdam Arena is slap in the middle of all the venues.
If we win (jinxetty jinx jinxxxxx), there will be enough time to plan the Football competition schedule but the Ziggo Dome and maybe AFAS will have to pre-empt for preparations. This means they would miss out on lucrative bookings from other artists (there’s basically shows there at least three times a week) and I’m not sure if they want to miss out on this financially.
With the Ahoy’ in Rotterdam, you have a venue that’s also very suitable (but with a slightly lower capacity) and which has more ‘free time’ in between shows since Ziggo Dome is basically the go-to venue for any big artist performing in the Netherlands nowadays.
Also, accommodation-wise, Rotterdam is more spacious and welcoming, Amsterdam is always so BUSY.

My guess is still Amsterdam though but I wouldn’t be surprised if Amsterdam simply says no.

I also think it will be Amsterdam (oh mother of all jinxes). But I really like the vibe of Rotterdam, it’s a completely different city compared to Amsterdam or Utrecht.
Also, hotel accommodation is generally cheaper in Rotterdam (or better, less expensive) so Rotterdam wouldn’t be a bad choice at all.

I'm glad you're here, since there are a lot of people (including me) that appreciate the live streams at the rehearsals! I'd love to meet you and take a selfie at Eurovision in Concert, if that's fine with you! That being said, keep up the amazing work and I can't wait for the livestreams in Tel Aviv!

Why don't you stay in my lovely Utrecht? Only 16 minutes by train to the AFAS venue and not so crowded by tourists as Amsterdam
