Nog steeds in spectator fleetquote:1750GMT Pirates gybe in the spectator fleet and is now looking as though they have closed up on movistar and as they come out of the spectators they could be in second place. Both boats are still in the spectator fleet which could make for some interesting spectating. It looks as though ABN AMRO ONE might have dropped behind Ericsson. ONE stayed on the right side of the course and seem to be sailing in much softer wind and are losing ground. The boats do cross and Ericsson has crossed behind, but are closer. The big battle is between movistar and Pirates.

Maar Misschien zijn ze op de Brunel naar beneden en net onder de waterlijn, zodat ze niet zichtbaar zijn op de foto.
Toch gek, want bij deze aan-de-windse koers zou je verwachten dat het dagger board aan loef omhoog zou zijn. Anyway, Brunel heeft ze dus wel.

Can they be beaten? It loks a difficult trick to pull off now.
Behind the leader, a while hot fight for the podium places rages. Pirates holds the upper hand at the moment as the gang of four, Pirates, movistar, Ericsson and Brasil 1 close on the Ambrose Light off the entrance to New York harbour. movistar could be hampered by their blown up gearbox for their grinder system if it comes to a tacking battle in the harbour - which it probably will. This might be the chance for Ericsson to make the comeback everyone has been waiting for and slot into the top three.
