Half februari verklaarde het Amerikaanse hooggerechtshof de door president Donald Trump op basis van een noodwet ingevoerde importheffingen onrechtmatig. Tussen oktober vorig jaar en afgelopen juni heeft de Amerikaanse overheid zo'n 81 miljard dollar (omgerekend 66 miljard euro) teruggestort.
Ook Nederlandse bedrijven krijgen geld terug. Zo ontving Philips al 186 miljoen euro van de Amerikaanse overheid.
