Ah leuk! Daar ga ik weer eens goed over nadenken.

Ik volg dit topic ook even. Kijken of ik er tijd voor kan maken deze maand. Ik denk dat ik de lijst van vorig jaar pak en die hier en daar wat bij ga werken.

Volgorde is sowieso redelijk willekeurig. Eigenlijk heb ik 2 nummers één, ongeveer 50 nummers 3 en ongeveer 100 nummers 53....

Het is lastig om uit te leggen, maar ik voel mezelf erg verbonden met Phils werk, ook bij Mount Eerie. Het heeft vooral te maken hoe hij humor en clichés afwisselt met obscure referenties (denk aan Tibetaanse filosofie of Scandinavische folklore) en zware thema's als sterfelijkheid. Het is een album van vlees en bloed, maar ook creatief sonisch landschap. Phil is een echte 'recording artist' die met tape recorders en audiomanipulatie de meest interessante geluiden creëert. Zo heb je de intens versnelde drums van Samurai Sword of de lange drones tussen de nummers door, verwijzingen naar de misthoorn die je vaak in Twin Peaks hoort. Ik ontdek elke luisterbeurt wel weer een nieuw detail dat mijn kijk op zijn muziek een beetje beïnvloedt.

Ik kan je aanraden je eens in zijn werk en de lyrics te verdiepen en het album nog eens een kans te geven. Maar het kan natuurlijk ook gewoon geen plaat voor jou zijn.

Laat ik ook weer eens mee doen. Is erg lang geleden. Nieuwste lijst die ik kon vinden op m'n PC was uit 2005. Er is veel verandert sinds toen, hoewel geen enkel album uit m'n top 10 jonger is dan toen.

Duurde hier ook even voordat ik begon te waarderen. Ik vond 'm namelijk altijd amateuristisch overkomen. Maar zo ineens viel toch het kwartje hier (volgens mij nadat ik de laatste Mount Eerie erg waardeerde). Veel ideeën erop zijn toch wel erg uniek en creatief, terwijl ze ook nog eens bijdragen om alle nummers als één geheel te laten klinken. Zit gewoon een hele vreemde, maar (inmiddels) fijne vibe op dat album

Als Mich en Cafca al gepost hebben, kan ik niet lang achterblijven natuurlijk. Mijn top twee zal wel nooit meer veranderen, denk ik. Bij de rest is er best veel geschoven. Dit jaar had ik het echt moeilijk om in te perken tot 100.

Leuk om te merken dat er op veel lijsten overlap is met mijn lijst (zelfde albums/artiesten/genres), maar de lijsten dan toch weer een heel eigen karakter hebben.

Ik zie dat ik tot nu toe met niemand overlap. De enige overlap-muziekartiesten die ik in het verleden had waren - voor zover ik weet - DJ Tiësto, Enigma, Jean-Michel Jarre, Moby, Rammstein en Vangelis. Over smaak en wansmaak valt niet te twisten.

Thanks! In mijn tienerjaren voornamelijk naar metal geluisterd en dat werpt nog steeds zijn vruchten af. Er is maar weinig muziek waar ik zo in op kan gaan als in een Tool of Opeth album.

Ik denk ook dat het in de toekomst alleen maar meer wordt, aangezien je nu makkelijk op youtube en spotify playlists kunt maken van losse nummers en daarmee het album min of meer genegeerd wordt. Ik draai albums vaak helemaal en dan heb ik weinig verschil in de losse nummers. Van voor die tijd zijn het juist vaak de hits of nummers die op radio/tv zijn geweest die me het meest aanspreken. Daarom noem ik het ook een singleslijst en staan er heel weinig albumtracks in wat ik bij een hoop anderen wel zie.

Na pakweg 2000 zijn singles natuurlijk ook veel minder belangrijk geworden, doordat de invloed van de hitlijsten is afgenomen.

Voor exposure zijn singles nog altijd essentieel anders. In de rockmuziek ligt dat wel iets anders, daar is het de laatste 5 jaar zeker afgenomen.

Het valt op dat als er een studioalbum wordt genoemd van Rammstein het dan bijna altijd 'Sehnsucht' (1997) betreft. Vanwaar toch de keuze voor specifiek dit album van Rammstein? (Ik heb 'Sehnsucht' nog niet in mijn collectie en hoop deze nog wel te vinden, weliswaar voor een schappelijke prijs). Ik kan mij niet voorstellen dat de andere albums onderdoen aan?

Het valt op dat als er een studioalbum wordt genoemd van Rammstein het dan bijna altijd 'Sehnsucht' (1997) betreft. Vanwaar toch de keuze voor specifiek dit album van Rammstein? (Ik heb 'Sehnsucht' nog niet in mijn collectie en hoop deze nog wel te vinden, weliswaar voor een schappelijke prijs). Ik kan mij niet voorstellen dat de andere albums onderdoen aan?

Ik had de clip van 'Du Hast' in het verleden gezien, en inderdaad een unieke mix met (acid) house en industrial metal. Maar ik wist niet dat 'Sehnsucht' doorspekt is met de genoemde genres? Heb ik nog meer om naar uit te kijken (in dit geval luisteren).
