Echt hoor guys, ik ben hier al een tijdje mee bezig. 2.5 miljard voor de centrale (700MW), 1 - 1.5 miljard voor de kabel. Kan IJsland z'n schulden aan UK en NL inlossen zonder dat hun bevolking daar onder lijdt. Is dat terugbetaalt dan mogen ze het zaakje overnemen (ook weer betalen met energie).

Ik vind het aardig gek dat men warmte verkrijgt door kern-energie terwijl de warmte onder onze voeten ligt.

Plant Status of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (as of 10:00 am, July 20)

All 6 units of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station have been shut down.

Unit 1 (Shut down)
- Explosive sound and white smoke were confirmed after the big quake
occurred at 3:36 pm on March 12. It was assumed to be hydrogen explosion.
- At approximately 2:30 am on March 23, seawater injection to the reactor
through the reactor feed water system was initiated.
- From 3:37 pm on March 25, we started injecting freshwater by a motor
driven pump which is now powered by the off-site transmission line.
Water is currently injected at approx. 3.7m3/h through reactor feed water
system piping arrangement.
- We commenced injection of nitrogen gas into Primary Containment Vessel
at 1:31am on April 7.

Unit 2 (Shut down)
- At approximately 6:00 am on March 15, an abnormal noise began emanating
from nearby Pressure Suppression Chamber and the pressure within the
chamber decreased.
- From 10:10 am on March 26, we started injecting freshwater to the reactor
and are now injecting fresh water by a motor driven pump powered by the
off-site transmission line. From 2:25pm on July 17, the motor driven pump
of Unit 2 is injecting the freshwater to the Unit 1 and 2 reactors.
Water is currently injected at approx. 3.8m3/h through reactor feed water
system piping arrangement.
- At 8:06 pm on June 28, we started injecting nitrogen gas into the Primary
Containment Vessel.

Unit 3 (Shut down)
- Explosive sound and white smoke were confirmed at approximately 11:01am
on March 14. It was assumed to be hydrogen explosion.
- From 6:02 pm on March 25, we started injecting fresh water to the reactor
and are now injecting fresh water by a motor driven pump powered by the
off-site transmission line.
Water is currently injected at approx. 9.0m3/h through reactor feed water
system piping arrangement.
- At 8:01 pm on July 14, injection of nitrogen gas into the Primary
Containment Vessel started.

Unit 4 (Outage due to regular inspection)
- At approximately 6:00 am on March 15, we confirmed the explosive sound
and the sustained damage around the 5th floor rooftop area of Reactor
Building.
- At this moment, we do not consider any reactor coolant leakage inside
the primary containment vessel has occurred.

Unit 5 (Outage due to regular inspection)
- Sufficient level of reactor coolant to ensure safety is maintained.
- At 5:00 am on March 19, we started the Residual Heat Removal System Pump
(C) in order to cool the spent fuel pool.
- At 2:30 pm on March 20, the reactor achieved cold shutdown.
- At 2:45pm on July 15, we started the operation of the original Residual
Heat Removal System Pump (B).
- At this moment, we do not consider any reactor coolant leakage inside the
primary containment vessel has occurred.

Unit 6 (Outage due to regular inspection)
- Sufficient level of reactor coolant to ensure safety is maintained.
- At 10:14 pm on March 19, we started the Residual Heat Removal System Pump
(B) of Unit 6 in order to cool the spent fuel pool.
- At 7:27 pm on March 20, the reactor achieved cold shutdown.
- At this moment, we do not consider any reactor coolant leakage inside the
primary containment vessel has occurred.

Operation for cooling the spent fuel pools
- At 5:21 pm on May 31, we started cyclic cooling of the spent fuel pool
in Unit 2 using alternative cooling system for fuel pool cooling and
filtering system.
- At 7:47 pm on June 30, we started cyclic cooling of the spent fuel pool
in Unit 3 using alternative cooling system for fuel pool cooling and
filtering system.
- We will continuously conduct further water spray depending on the
conditions of spent fuel pools, if needed.

Injury accident
- Around 10:06am on July 18, a worker of the partner company fell from the
distribution pole during the connection work of the optical cable near
the observatory entrance of the station. He was transported to the Iwaki
Kyouritsu Hospital by the helicopter emergency medical service (called
"Doctor Heli").

Others
- At 11:00 am on May 10, we started transferring accumulated water from the
underground level of reactor building to the radiation waste treatment
facility of Unit 6.
- At approximately 10:00 am on June 13, we started the operation of the
circulating seawater purification facility installed at the screen area
of Unit 2 and 3.
- From 8:00 pm on June17, we started operation of water treatment of
accumulated water at accumulated water treatment facility.
- At 6:00 pm on July 2, we started the circulating injection cooling to
inject the water, which was treated by the accumulated water treatment
system, to the reactors through the buffer tank.
- At 10:50 am on July 16, we started transfer of the accumulated water
from the Turbine Building of Unit 3 to the Process Main Building of the
Centralized Radiation Waste Treatment Facility.
- At 10:56 am on July 16, we started transfer of the accumulated water from
the Turbine Building of Unit 2 to the Process Main Building of the
Centralized Radiation Waste Treatment Facility.
- From 8:30am on July 18, we started an installation work of a temporary
roof for the Unit 3 turbine building in order to cover the roof's opening
as a measure for rainwater.
- At 11:00 am on July 19, we stopped the operation of the cesium adsorption
system at accumulated water treatment facility in order to replace the
cesium adsorption towers. At 3:03 pm on the same day, we started-up the
facility and at 3:17 pm, we restarted the treatment for accumulated water.
- We will continue to take all measures to ensure the safety and to continue
monitoring the surrounding environment around the power station.

Er wordt nog steeds domweg water in de reactoren gepompt. Een deel ontsnapt als radioactieve stoom en de rest komt als radioactief water terug. Dus alles is "volledig onder controle" om in Tepco termen te spreken.

Het probleem zit m in de bronnen; Arnie Gundersen / Fairewinds gebruikt erg veel speculaties en oude foto's om te vertellen wat er is of gebeurd. En hij verteld erg vaak eht zelfde met andere woorden. Check maar eens zijn vele lezingen op Youtube. en cnn...ja die is van de zelfde gradatie als de Tepco berichtgeving.
(Hoor jij op CNN / Gov. TV nog iets over Nebrasca of New mexico met hun Nulcleare crisis?)

In het begin volgde ik @diederiksamsom via Fok want ik heb zelf geen Twitter. (en NHK. news) Nu is het probleem als je een search doet bv via google krijg je zo veel verschillende informatie.
Dat je niet meer weet wat nieuws is.

Emissions of radioactivity from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant are a tiny fraction of those during the height of the accident as Tokyo Electric Power Company moves to the next phase of its stabilisation roadmap.

Provisional analyses based on radiation dose rates at the site boundary show that emissions to air have reduced by a factor of two million compared to those at the height of the crisis, when the torus suppression chamber of unit 2 ruptured on 15 March.

Someone standing at the western border of the power plant today could expect to receive a maximum of 1.7 millisieverts per year (mSv/y) from airborne radioactivity from the three ruined reactors. This compares to the 2.4 mSv/y average that people worldwide receive from background sources, and the operational limit for nuclear power plants in Japan to limit public exposure to 1.0 mSv/y.

Dose rates from emissions drop dramatically away from the site: five kilometres away the maximum rate from newly released radiation is 0.3 mSv/y; ten kilometres away it is 0.09 mSv/y; and 20 kilometres away it is 0.03 mSv/y.

It is important to note that these figures apply only to the rate of release of radiation now, and do not include the effects of any materials already deposited on the ground, some of which will continue to emit radiation for many years. There are areas totalling about 1000 square kilometres where dose rates have been elevated beyond 20 mSv/y due to caesium-137 deposited on the ground.

However, the lowering of release rates from about two tera-becquerels per hour to around one giga-becquerel per hour means that Tokyo Electric Power Company is approaching a landmark in its control of the site.

One of the Step 1 roadmap targets, now officially completed, was 'mitigation of dispersion'. Towards that aim the company sprayed about 400,000 square metres of the site with dust control agents and removed 500 containers of contaminated debris. Work is ongoing now in preparation to install an airtight structure over unit 1, which will further control airborne emissions. Similar structures may be put in place over the other three damaged units.

Emissions to sea have been tackled separately. These too have been stopped, and water in the plant's port area filtered through zeolite blocks to reduce radioactivity from caesium. Water trapped in the basements of the power plant is being pumped to a storage and filtration centre before re-use as coolant for injection. Overall water levels in the buildings have fallen marginally as the system has come into operation, reducing the risk that any could overflow to the sea.

One other target area is in sight - cold shutdown of the reactors. A definition published yesterday by Tepco specified that cold shutdown is achieved when the temperature at the bottom of the reactor vessel is 'in general' below 100ºC. While the three crippled reactor cores have usually been above this, today the reported temperature of unit 1 was 100.0ºC, placing that goal in reach. Tepco expects emission rates from the power plant to go down further as temperatures are reduced.

Documents on the roadmap for restoration show that Tepco has met the conditions of Step 1, summarised as 'stable cooling' on schedule. It is now moving to Step 2, described as 'more stable cooling', which covers in a three to six month period:

•Ensuring the robustness of water injection and treatment facilities
•Installation of heat exchangers for the used fuel ponds of units 1 and 4
•A detailed investigation of groundwater conditions
•Expansion of water treatment and management of the sludge produced
•Installation of the cover on unit 1
•Removal of debris from the roofs of units 3 and 4
•Beginning 'full-fledged' decontamination

Maar ik weet niet hoe objectief deze site is ondanks hun "eigen" research.

Gundersen legt het zo uit dat het voor een leek te begrijpen is en heeft de meest duidelijke antwoorden gegeven.

Alle vragen van wat is er gebeurd, wat is de huidige status, wat zijn de opties, waar zit het gevaar etc.

Hij interpreteert de informatie en geeft zijn visie dus ja in die zin is het achteraf. Desondanks is zijn uitleg achteraf telkens veel preciezer gebleken dan de info van Tepco of de Japanse regering. Die gaven pas na anderhalve maand de meltdowns toe.

Dat bericht klopt verder wel, zolang ze kunnen voorkomen dat er ergens opnieuw kernmateriaal kritiek gaat zal de hoeveelheid straling dalen. Voorlopig kunnen ze dat alleen door water te blijven pompen. Over die emissies heb ik wel mijn twijfels. Ze lozen nog steeds radioactieve stoom.

Ik denk daar anders over. Ten tijde van Tsjernobyl werden er 600.000 "vrijwilligers" nauwelijks voorzien van beschermende middelen naar het gebied gestuurd om verspreiding tegen te gaan.
'N grote macht van de overheid is het militaire apparaat, laat ze dat dan gebruiken als de nood aan de man is.

Japan heeft vijftig plus volstrekt veilige kerncentrales maar meer dan de helft ervan ligt volgens mij stil. Ik kan zo gauw ff geen cijfers vinden, om welke redenen dan ook horen we weinig tot niets van die volstrekt veilige centrales met die goedkope energie.
Japan denkt nu toch ineens toch na over afschaffing van kernenergie!(?)

Herinnert u het zich nog? onze nederlandse kernenergie “expert” die met stelligheid wist te vertellen dat chernobyl iets van 36 slachtoffers gemaakt had en dat Fukushima maximaal 10% van Chernobyl zou worden? De DUIZENDEN directe stralingsdoden die vielen zijn kort na de eerste explosie zijn vast niet meegeteld, om 'boekhoudkundige redenen' wellicht.

Wie doorleest ziet ook dat de metingen alleen over Iodine gaan. Metingen in vis naar b.v Cesium worden helemaal niet gedaan. Mondje dicht, wat niet weet wat niet deert. Ik hoop dat ons nageslacht onze apathische passieve houding vergeeft.

Maandag 5 mei. Het coördinatieteam krijgt een verrassende mededeling van de wetenschappers. Na proeven is men er achter gekomen dat de radioactieve stof jodium niet verdwijnt van de sla en de spinazie, zelfs niet na goed wassen. Een nieuw probleem dient zich aan. De evacuatie was terecht. Echte metingen plaatsen de paniekverhalen wel in een nuchterder perspectief.

Kort na de explosies in de kernreactoren in Fukushima, 11 maart 2011, deden spookverhalen de ronde over een aanstaande evacuatie van Tokyo, 250 kilometer verderop. Nederlandse correspondenten met veel oorlogservaring vlogen uit pure angst het land uit. Alarmerende berichten over stralingspieken waren breaking news.

Nature publiceert deze week een Scientific Report van Japanse onderzoekers die kort daarna in een auto met stralingsmeters met tussenpozen door de radioactieve pluim net buiten de evacuatiezone reden. Dat levert informatieve grafiekjes op: de straling was uiteraard relatief hoog vlak na de explosies en dicht bij de reactoren, maar de piek werd in de weken daarna tien keer zo laag, en nam over een afstand van 50 kilometer met een factor honderd af. Voorbij 120 kilometer van de reactor is de straling nooit hoger geweest dan de achtergrondstraling in Nederland. De afname van de straling in de tijd is in overeenstemming met de halfwaardetijd van jodium-131 (8 dagen), volgens verwachting de meest voorkomende radioactieve stof bij zo’n incident.

De onderzoekers maakten ook een schatting van de maximale dosis die evacués uit de 20-kilometer zone rond de centrales hebben opgelopen voordat ze naar verder gelegen steden zijn gebracht. Die ligt rond de 60 milliSievert, 30 keer de dosis die de modale inwoner van Nederland per jaar oploopt. Deze dosis ligt boven de norm voor toegelaten blootstelling onder normale omstandigheden, dus de beslissing tot evacuatie was terecht, concluderen de onderzoekers.
Het is echter geen dosis die gezondheidseffecten (zoals een meetbare toename van het aantal gevallen van kanker) veroorzaakt. Een CT-scan van het hele lichaam, zoals die steeds vaker in ziekenhuizen wordt uitgevoerd, dient de patiënt bijvoorbeeld een dosis van 10 milliSievert toe.

De grafieken laten de hoeveelheid straling zien die iemand per uur op een bepaalde plek oploopt. De eenheid Gray is in dit geval ongeveer hetzelfde als de eenheid Sievert.

Ik besef dat doomsday filmpjes en berichten van vaak dubieuze bronnen veel spannender zijn om te lezen maar dat betekent natuurlijk niet dat nieuws van serieuze bronnen niet ook gemeld moet worden. De reactoren van de Japanse kerncentrale Fukushima I 'zijn in essentie stabiel'. Dat heeft het hoofd van de VN-atoomwaakhond IAEA, de Japanner Yukiya Amano, maandag gezegd. De organisatie verwacht dat de reactoren volgens planning kunnen worden stilgelegd.

De kerncentrale Fukushima I raakte zwaarbeschadigd door de aardbeving en de tsunami van 11 maart. De koeling viel uit, wat leidde tot het gedeeltelijke smelten van de splijtstofstaven.
