Er zijn verder niet zoveel krenten geloof ik maar ik heb ook niet alles kunnen zien. Dat de militaire top oorspronkelijk het advies gaf om 2500 man aan troepen achter te laten was al onder Trump die blijkbaar in januari ook ALLE troepen wilde terugtrekken maar daarvan afzag.quote:

Secr. of Def. Austin voegde er nog aan toe dat als ze daar hadden willen blijven 2500 man niet genoeg zou zijn geweest met de kennis van nu. Wat dat betreft klopt het verhaal van Biden dus wel: het was of alles terugtrekken of opnieuw meer troepen aanvoeren. Uiteindelijk was het advies dus: terugtrekken voor 1 sep om te voorkomen dat een nieuwe oorlog veel meer slachtoffers onder de Am. troepen zou gaan opleveren.

De poging van de Republikeinen om de Democraten te dwingen de verhoging van de schuldenlimiet via reconciliation te laten doen (door te weigeren voor te stemmen) gaat dus niet lukken

Het schiet ook nog niet op met de twee Infrastructure Bills:
Manchin kwam eindelijk met een bedrag: hij wil niet meer dan 1,5T in de reconciliation bill steken die voor 3,5T begroot staat (over 10 jaar) en al teruggebracht is van Sanders' eis van 6T:

Wel een goed punt trouwens: als de Democraten toch besluiten de bipartisan infrastructure bill eerst in stemming te brengen zonder garantie dat de tweede grote partisan reconciliation bill er dan nog doorkomt is dat toch een stuk aantrekkelijker dan geen van beide. Dat is immers in aanloop naar de verkiezingen politiek gunstig voor de Democraten aangezien de Republikeinen (en Manchin/Sinema) daar de verantwoording voor mogen nemen

Het is wat mij betreft een terechte conclusie. De feiten zijn simpel:quote:

- infrastructuur is goedgekeurd door de Senaat, onderdeel van Biden's agenda en zeer populair onder de bevolking. Zowel Democraat als Republikein.
- Biden heeft als een van zijn speerpunten bipartisanship. Deze bill is daar de litmus test voor.
- Er moet een budget komen voor 2022. Daarin willen de Democraten een heleboel dingen regelen uit de rest van Biden's agenda.
- Pelosi en Schumer zijn zo dom geweest om, onder druk van de zogenaamde progressieve groep binnen de Democraten, te zeggen dat infrastructure niet gedaan kan worden zonder tegelijkertijd te stemmen over het budget.
- Progressieve groep dreigt met nee stemmen op infrastructure omdat ze meer van hun dingen in het budget willen. Dat gaat heel moeilijk worden want daar gaat de Senaat niet in mee. Kans is dus dat beide dingen exploderen en er helemaal niets komt.
De conclusie is dus vrij simpel. Biden's agenda wordt gegijzeld door een extremistische factie binnen de eigen partij. Ondanks al het gaslighting van Kijkertje weet iedereen die een beetje oplet dat die infrastructure bill op ieder moment door Pelosi naar de vloer gebracht kan worden en dan belandt ie op Biden's bureau. Daar kunnen de Republikeinen helemaal niets aan doen, dit is puur en alleen een burgeroorlog binnen de Democratische partij.
De feiten zijn een stuk simpeler dan dat.
1. De Biden administratie presenteert een infrastructuurplan genaamd Build Back Better a 3.5 biljoen dollar.
2. De conservatieve vleugel van de Democraten torpedeert het plan van hun eigen administratie en stemt met de Republikeinen mee.
