Je hebt bijvoorbeeld die goede toespraak over Floyd en de racisme problemen gemist?
Ja, Biden moet af en toe naar woorden zoeken. Doet hij al zijn hele leven, schijnt het. Ik heb een vrouw die dat ook heeft: heeft niks met leeftijd te maken. Woordblindheid is een vrij normaal fenomeen en hoeft niemand in de weg te zitten om succesvol te zijn.


Ja, Biden is oud. En nee, Biden is geen ideale kandidaat. Maar Biden is 100% zeker niet dement.

Die mensen hebben ook niet massaal winkels geplunderd, willekeurige mensen het ziekenhuis ingetrapt, standbeelden omver getrokken, agenten aangevallen. Het is niet erg hoor om het geweld te veroordelen, dat laat tenminste zien dat je nog iets van principes hebt.

Daar maakt-ie een lossere, sympathiekere indruk. Check bijvoorbeeld het fragment van 7:00 - 8:38. Zo zie je 'm nu nooit meer.

Wat 't met 'm was toen. Het was de tijd van The American Dream en Trump was daar een billboard voor.

Trump had meer tijd voor zichzelf. Als hij het hele jaar ging golfen of blunders beging.. het bleef onzichtbaar. Dat was zijn leven en so be it.

Niemand die z'n donkere kanten in de schijnwerpers zette dus kon hij veel beter de rol aanhouden waarin alles gesmeerd verliep in de luwte en ondertussen leuk doen om z'n ego hoog te houden en aandacht van vrouwen te blijven krijgen.

Letterman prikte daar overigens doorheen. Die stond aan de kant van degenen die m niet mochten. "Donny" noemde hij m altijd en versterkte het beeld van een groot verwend kind. Trump had alles maar te slikken want Letterman bood 'm een platform naar de wereld.

Imho had ie dit mooi moeten blijven volhouden deze rol, was hij in de illusie van Trump als middelmatig icoon gestorven. Geen groot publiek die ooit serieuze interesse in een verhaal over het riool van deze Trump zou hebben gehad en dan was hij als bron voor Art of the Deal de deur uit gegaan. Kanttekening hierbij; de auteur van 't boek vond het een grote zwamshow van Trump. Net als tegenwoordig.. niets veranderd.

Voor 't presidentschap waren er nog wel sporen naar deze periode. Ook toen oogde hij nog wel relaxed. Tot men wat in de archieven dook, hem 24/7 ging volgen en alles op de weegschaal begon te leggen van wat hij zei en deed. Hij heeft diverse pogingen ondernomen het onder tapijten te schuiven maar de troep begint zich nu te stapelen.

Daarnaast is de stress van het presidentschap eentje die hij nooit heeft ervaren als verwend kind van de erfenis van pa. Hij leest zich nooit in, wil korte briefings en doet dat puur omdat hij daar te lui voor was /is. Hij gelooft erg in z'n aura als TV personality waar hij alle energie in steekt en die is nu wel aan het slijten.

Trump is niet dementerend, maar heeft nooit veel noten op zn zang gehad en dat riedeltje is inmiddels wel klaar. Blijft er gewoon een vermoeide bejaarde over en men is ook Trumpmurw aan het worden net als die auteur van Art of the Deal destijds al was.

Vond het aan de ene kant hilarisch en aan de andere kant zorgwekkend dat er laatst in Den Haag mensen (onder andere) tegen Antifa stonden te protesteren. Die lui slaan in Nederland al helemaal nog geen deuk in een pak boter en krijgen ineens een podiumplek in de schoot geworpen.
