Ik vind dat laatste absoluut niet een punt, want een goed opgestelde en doordachte boodschap is imho meer waard dan een goede voordracht, al is het wel het glazuur op de cake en daarnaast is de kwaliteit van de inhoud natuurlijk wel belangrijk.quote:

Het zou wel extra pijnlijk zijn als de republikeinse speaker governor wordt, aangezien die republikeinen de stem van de zwarten verzwakt hebben door op raciale grond te gerrymanderen, wat me eigenlijk wel een heel stuk erger lijkt dan 30 jaar geleden te verkleden als zwarte, vind je niet? Dat heeft nogal echte consequenties. Een van deze consequenties is dat deze republikein nu speaker is.quote:

Die aantijgingen jegens de lt. Governor zijn overigens ook al een jaar oud en volgens mij konden ze niet echt geverifieerd worden.

Als ze allemaal aftreden verzinnen ze wel een constructie waarbij bijvoorbeeld de lt. gov. eerst aftreedt, vervangen wordt en op die manier gouverneur wordt als de rest aftreedt.
De WaPo heeft het onderzocht en heeft besloten het niet te publiceren. Dat zegt ook wel wat. Maar het gaat in dezen meer om de imagoschade voor Democraten in Virginia.quote:

Ik zie op Amerikaanse sites commentaren waarin haar verhaal in twijfel getrokken wordt omdat "suppressed memories" niet betrouwbaar zouden zijn. Maar "suppressed" is niet hetzelfde als "repressed". Repressed memories zijn dubieus, bvb als tijdens psychiater sessies voor het eerst "nieuwe" herinneringen opduiken van misbruik door haar vader, waar ze voordien niets van wist. Maar zij schrijft: "I suppressed those memories", maw ze probeerde er zo weinig mgelijk aan te denken.

In Virginia wordt de lt. gov. ook verkozen (los van de gouverneur), hem zomaar even vervangen lijkt me dus geen optie.quote:
