Winst voor de Dems (+36 zetels). Republikeinen pikken één zeteltje op in Minnesota. Ik denk dat de Dems voldoende momentum en geld hebben om een flink aantal zetels te winnen. De Republikeinen hebben simpelweg teveel exposure na de waves in 2010 en 2014. Gerrymandering, Trump die redelijk populair blijft en een bijna net zo enthousiaste GOP base staan een volledige wipe-out in de weg.

Senate:

Democratische overwinningen in Arizona en Nevada en Republikeinse overwinningen in MO en ND cancellen elkaar uit, waardoor het bij de status quo blijft. Ik denk dat McCaskill in Missouri net te kort komt, het blijft een steeds verder naar rechts verschuivende staat. Ondanks alle hype verliest Beto met 3-5 punten.

Governorships

Bij de gouverneursschappen denk ik dat de Dems de grootste winst gaan behalen. Gerrymandering speelt hier geen rol en in tegenstelling tot de Senaat valt er veel te winnen in de Midwest. Georgia gaat naar run-off en daar komt Abrams net te kort. Upsets in Oregon en South Dakota.

Kobach, who was vice-chairman of the Trump administration’s now disbanded election-fraud commission, is known for his zero-tolerance approach to undocumented migrants and his staunch support for voter ID laws, which critics say unfairly and illegally target minority voters.

But Kobach has gained less attention for his long history of associations with groups that espouse white nationalist views and the significant financial support they have given him since he launched his political career in 2004.

Public financial records show Kobach received political contributions from US Immigration Reform Pac, a political action committee closely affiliated with John Tanton, a retired ophthalmologist who is known as the founder of the modern American anti-immigrant movement.

But Trump reportedly bragged that his focus on issues related to immigration had electrified his base.

Trump acknowledged in September 2016 that Obama was born in the U.S. But The New York Times reported in 2017 that Trump continues to question the authenticity of the former president's birth certificate.

The Hill has reached out to the White House regarding Brzezinski's comments.

This is the first time since the Center for Responsive Politics began tracking donations in 1990 that retirees have backed Democrats over the GOP in a midterm election, according to the Journal.

In 1990, 76 percent of retiree donations went to Republicans and 26 percent to Democrats.

That advantage has steadily declined, and by 2002, 63 percent flowed to the GOP and 36 percent to the Democrats.

In 2010, only 55 percent went towards Republicans, while 44 percent bulked up Democrats.
