Ja, toffe cast hoor met je Shakespeare/Flashforward gast. Yvonne uit Dexter en Chuck, Gilmore's Rory en Moira uit Orange is the new Black, hoewel, misschien meer een bij elkaar geraapt zooitje van mensen die momenteel niks te doen hebben... maar dit doet me een beetje denken aan Game of Thrones 'Shame shame shame', waar religie ingrijpt in de samenleving en zelfjustitie toepast. Maar dan dus een hele serie over hoe vrouwen te gedragen hebben, maar dan in een haast post-apocalyptische wereld waar God weer eens gebruikt wordt als excuus om een bepaalde gedragscode en levenswijze op te leggen, ondertussen natuurlijk hartstikke hypocriet verkrachters bestraffen, want hypocrisie dat gaat ja hand-in-hand met religie. Alles beweegt heel langzaam voort... en het verhaal was me al snel duidelijk. Anyways. 't Heeft geen pace, het heeft niet een bepaald boeiend scenario en ik vind het eigenlijk helemaal niks. Na de comments dacht ik dat je hier echt bij op het puntje van je stoel zou zitten, geboeid en in spanning. Mja... kweenie.quote:

Vorige week was ik in de UK en op tv was daar o.a. Sky (van Sky sports) en ik zag aankondigingen van Sky original tv-series, ik had geen idee dat Sky ook series uitbracht, maar misschien is dat nieuw, deze:

The Royal Family has finally arrived, with the first photo for Marvel’s Inhumans showing off the live-action debut of the popular comic characters. After years of being planned as a film, last year brought word that Inhumans would instead be coming to TV, but with a twist. While all eight episodes of the first season will air this fall on ABC, the first two will premiere on IMAX screens initially. The deal is not only groundbreaking in terms of distribution, but will allow for a bigger budget thanks to the involvement of IMAX.
After the announcement, filming quickly began in Hawaii, and we’ve had no shortage of early looks at the cast out on the streets. Thanks to shots of characters like Gorgon, Crystal, and Black Bolt, we’ve known that the comic source material would be both used and updated when it comes to the looks of the characters. Fans have still been eager, however, for a proper look at the assembled Royal Family. Now, we finally have our first official photo featuring the stars of Inhumans.
EW have just premiered the first cast photo (see below), showing off most of the Royal Family in their raiment. From left to right, there’s Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. Noticeably missing are family members Triton and Lockjaw, with new addition Auran also not pictured.
Like most MCU properties, Inhumans has certainly used the comics as a basis for the costumes of the characters. Still, the changes will likely spark some discussion. Of the assembled cast, only Crystal remains strikingly faithful to the comics. Still, Gorgon does have his signature cloak, Karnak his facial markings, Black Bolt his general suit design, and Medusa her love of purple and some shocking red hair. Maximus, meanwhile, looks more like Ramsay Bolton, adding a beard and ditching his white and black ensemble.
The photo also noticeably lacks the heavy CGI that the show will employ. While we can’t see Gorgon’s legs, it’s been confirmed they will be cloven like in the comics. Medusa’s hair, meanwhile, is a far cry from the prehensile tangle of locks for which she’s known. And Triton, Auran, and Lockjaw are left out, likely due to how much CGI and/or prosthetics they’ll require.
Still, bringing these colorful characters to life was no easy feat, and Marvel have made great strides to honor the comics while making the costumes work in the real world. It’s also possible we’ll see the characters in multiple looks. Medusa often switches between her more regal attire and a superhero costume in the comics, so it could be we’re merely seeing the family in their court clothes. Likely, they’ll suit up in different uniforms, as the Inhumans TV show synopsis suggests. With the premiere on the horizon, we should know soon enough.

Het boek is geschreven als reactie op het sentiment van toen dat een maatschappelijke omslag zoals in het Midden Oosten, dat van redelijk vrij naar draconisch ging in korte tijd, nooit in de VS zou kunnen gebeuren. De schrijfster wilde aantonen dat je met religie een heel eind kan komen.

Iets van Misfits was het geloof ik?
Ik ben vrij blij met Handmaid's Tale. Top cinematografie. Niet alleen de schoonheid van de shots maar vooral ook de close-ups op veel personages, zelfs als ze lopen. Een scene kan in 2 kamers zich afspelen met een lopende cameraman, maar wat er dan gebeurt is dat het alleen maar gefilmd is met bijv, een close-up van Offred. Op die manier krijg je echt het idee dat ze in de gaten gehouden wordt. Zie bijv. einde van ep 2 als ze opstaat na het spelen van scrabble en naar de deur loopt. Op de achtergrond zie je een klein beetje het lichaam van de commander en het voelt dan alsof hij haar in de gaten houden. Dat beknellende is op deze manier tof neergezet.
Het andere toffe qua sfeer is als er geen muziek is, alleen maar stilte en je hoort gekraak van de houten vloer.
Maar het fijnst vind ik dat de karakters gewoon serieus zijn en serieus acteren. Kleine tintelingen in de ogen, etc. Ben vrij blij dat er geen karikaturen inzitten. Dan kijk je bijv. Westworld, een toffe serie, en dan heb je die corporate vrouw die overdreven bitchy doet, of die Britse verhalengast die cocky is. Dat soort dingen halen het serieuze in de toon eronder uit, en dat heeft The Handmaid's Tale gelukkig niet,

One could say that NBC is getting into “virtual reality-TV” programming, by granting a series order to Reverie, a new drama starring Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest) and Dennis Haysbert (24).
From Extant creator Mickey Fisher, the thriller follows Mara Kint (Shahi), a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when she’s brought in to save people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced virtual-reality program in which you can literally live your dreams, “she finds that in saving others, she may actually have discovered a way to save herself.”
Haysbert plays Mara’s former boss, now the security chief for the virtual reality company, Reverie, while the cast also includes Sendhil Ramamurthy (Covert Affairs), Jessica Lu (Awkward) and Kathryn Morris (Cold Case).
Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) directed the pilot and will serve as an executive producer alongside Fisher, Brooklyn Weaver, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.

There will be blood — and Damnation — in USA Network’s newest original series.
Damnation, created by Longmire producer Tony Tost, has been greenlit officially at the basic cable network, TVLine has learned. The hour-long drama is described as a 1930s-set saga about the “mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed” and “charlatans and prophets” in America’s heartland.
The pilot introduces viewers to Seth Davenport (Ripper Street‘s Killian Scott), a man who poses as a small town Iowa preacher in an effort to start a “full-blown insurrection against the status quo,” per the network synopsis. Creeley Turner (Quarry‘s Logan Marshall-Green), a professional strikebreaker who shares a “secret, bloody past” with Seth, is hired by an industrialist tycoon to prevent a potential uprising.
Tost serves as an executive producer on the project, alongside Guymon Casady (Game of Thrones), James Mangold (Zoo) and Daniel Rappaport (Fastlane). Oscar-nominated director David MacKenzie (Hell or High Water) directed the pilot.
Damnation is set to debut on USA Network in October. What’s more, Netflix, which is co-producing the drama with Universal Cable Productions, will be the exclusive home to the series outside of the United States.

Jay R. Ferguson wasn’t out of work long: His ABC comedy The Real O’Neals‘ was cancelled Thursday, and his new CBS sitcom By the Book was ordered to series Friday, TVLine has learned.
Ferguson and David Krumholtz (Numb3rs) will star in the multi-cam series — formerly known as Living Biblically — from Patrick Walsh, The Big Bang Theory‘s Johnny Galecki and others.
The series, based on the bestselling book by A.J. Jacobs, follows a modern-day man who chooses to live his life according to the Bible.
The cast also includes Ian Gomez (Supergirl, Cougar Town), Camryn Manheim (The Practice), Lindsey Kraft (Getting On) and Tony Rock (Everybody Hates Chris).

The network has ordered magician drama Deception and divorce sitcom Splitting Up Together to series, TVLine has learned.
Deception stars Jack Cutmore-Scott (Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life) as a disgraced magician who puts his skills of deception and influence to work as a FBI consultant, helping the feds catch the world’s most elusive criminals.
Splitting Up Together stars Jenna Fischer (The Office) and Oliver Hudson (Scream Queens) as a divorced couple whose relationship improves dramatically after they’re officially split up.

De comedy/drama/sci-fi serie is gemaakt door Seth MacFarlane, die ook een hoofdrol heeft in de serie. Naast MacFarlane hebben ook onder andere Scott Grimes, Mark Jackson en Penny Johnson Jerald een rol in de tv-serie.

ABC is expanding the Grey’s Anatomy franchise yet again.
Four years after Grey’s spinoff Private Practice ended its run, the network has placed a series order for yet another offshoot, this one revolving around Seattle firefighters.
The series, penned by longtime Grey’s EP Stacy McKee, is set to bow in early 2018, presumably after How to Get Away With Murder ends its season.
“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda [Rhimes], and Grey’s signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey in a statement.
