A thousand volunteers have joined the army of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in the past week, the head of the republic’s mobilization office said on Friday as fighting continued between the pro-Kiev military and local self-defense militia.

About 30 servicemen are thought to have been killed in a shelling by militants using Grad multiple rocket launchers of the units of the Ukrainian anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces near the village of Zelenopillia, Sverdlovsk district, Donetsk region, early on July 11, an advisor to the Ukrainian interior minister, Zorian Shkiriak, has said.
"According to publicly available information, up to 30 [that have been killed]. There might be more victims, because these bloody bastards again meanly shelled [the positions of the ATO forces] with Grad systems, and the destruction there is significant," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

The first marriage to be registered at the 'Donetsk People's Republic' was held in Donetsk on Friday.
The wedding ceremony took place between militia member Arsen Pavlov, whose code-name is Motorola, and his bride Elena Kolenkina.
The bride wore the St. George ribbon in her hair and a holster with pistol in it. Friends, relatives, as well as comrades in arms, including Pavel Gubarev and Igor Girkin (Strelkov) were among those attending the ceremony.
The couple met in Semenovka, a village near Slavyansk, when Pavlov helped Elena who had been wounded.

Today, at 14:00, our special purpose [spetsnaz] unit, supported with artillery, attacked the enemy positions in the area of the [Donetsk] airport. Our units were not tasked with taking control of the airport. Nevertheless, our side inflicted serious manpower losses on the enemy. There were no losses on our part.
Overall, the situation remains tense. However, the Militia is prepared to defend Donetsk and the entire Donetsk urban agglomeration firmly and steadfastly. We expect to be able to retain key positions around the city and will not allow the enemy inside city or permit Donetsk to be encircled from the East or the Northeast.
In this regard, we are absolutely certain that assistance will be furnished by the units of Alexander Mozogovoi, who is formally a part of the LPR [Lugansk People’s Republic] army, but has been acting in operational subordination to our headquarters. Moreover, we [ourselves] have the necessary reserves to parry the enemy’s strikes. We were able to free up these reserves by withdrawing from Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka and Konstantinovka. Unfortunately, there was no other manner in which we could have freed up these resources.

When the Russian-backed separatists took over Kramatorsk, Mariupol, and Slavyansk, they captured TV and radio broadcast channels, shut them off, and replaced their signals with Russian state-operated TV and radio signals. Now that Ukraine has recaptured those towns they have shut off the Russian broadcasts and once again replaced them with Ukrainian news.
Ukraine's new President Petro Poroshenko says that this is part of a plan to restore these towns to normal, but also to ensure that accurate information is being reported in eastern Ukraine (translated by The Interpreter):

Ze had wel veel te maken met NGO's die lobbyen voor belangengroepen (special interest groups). Ook wees ze het bedrijfsleven erop dat hun hulp bij de ontwikkeling welkom was, maar alleen als de bevolking van Birma daar zelf ook voordeel bij had.
Deze kritiek lijkt in Oekraine te ontbreken.

Mensen die uit zijn op macht gebruiken de sentimenten rond deze tegenstellingen om aan invloed te winnen. Ook hun rechtvaardigingen, in termen van het algemeen belang, zijn bedrieglijk. Wat nodig is, is een openlijke discussie over machtsmotieven (de sentimenten mbt hierarchievorming) en de nadelen daarvan. En de erkenning dat propaganda strijdig is met het algemeen belang.
Alle partijen (politiek & bedrijfsleven, nationaal & internationaal) hebben tonnen boter op hun hoofd, als het gaat om het misleiden van de bevolking op grond van eigenbelang.

Selezniov is de woordvoerder van ATO (anti-terroristen operatie). Het is bedoeld als tegenwicht van het bloedbad dat de rebellen hebben aangericht onder de militairen van het Oekrainse leger. (Reuters) - The European Union targeted Ukrainian separatist leader Aleksandr Borodai and 10 other rebels with travel bans and asset freezes on Saturday, avoiding fresh sanctions on Russian business to avoid antagonizing its main energy supplier.
The European Union said Borodai was "responsible for the separatist 'governmental' activities of the so-called 'government of the Donetsk People's Republic'," referring to the city where the military is fighting pro-Russian separatists.
Others on the EU list include Alexander Khodakovsky, a defector from the Ukrainian state security service who now commands rebels, and Nikolay Kozitsyn, identified by the EU as another rebel commander.

Cuba produces about 55,000 barrels per day (bdp) through aging onshore wells and imports about 110,000 bpd on favorable terms from socialist ally Venezuela.
Putin was joined in Havana by close ally and so-called Russian oil czar Igor Sechin, the chairman of state oil company Rosneft, to finalize a deal to explore for oil off Cuba's northern coast.
Sechin is one of the Russian executives the United States has targeted for economic sanctions over the Ukraine crisis. The United States has blacklisted individuals believed to be part of Putin's inner circle, and Sechin is among the most influential people in Russia.
The Russian president also promised to reinvest $3.5 billion of Cuban debt with Russia into development projects on the island, part of a deal in which Russia forgave 90 percent of Cuba's debt, or almost $32 billion, most of it originating from Soviet loans to a fellow communist state.
Both measures inject much-needed foreign investment into Cuba and demonstrate an act of defiance against the United States, which maintains a 52-year-old economic embargo that effectively shuts out many Western companies from doing business in Cuba.

Many In anticipation of a siege, leaders of the self-styled Donetsk People's Republic announced they will evacuate entire neighborhoods. Many residents have rushed to pack up and leave for fear of getting caught in the cross-fire, given the insurgents' strategy of using residential areas for cover.
"The militia has begun blowing up roads, so I want to get out while there is still time. I don't want to turn into a living shield for the militants," said 56-year old businessman Andrei Koziyatko.
High-end shops are boarded up, and many other businesses, including insurance companies, real estate offices, beauty salons and notaries, have closed their doors. "For sale" and "For rent" signs abound where there were none a few weeks earlier. Property values have collapsed, with one-bedroom apartments in the city center now selling for $15,000, or one-third of what they cost before.
Estimates of how many people have left vary. The mayor's office said 30,000. Donetsk People's Republic prime minister Alexander Boroday put the number at 70,000 and rising.
At the Donetsk train station, people waited in long lines at the ticket office. Four trains a day go to the capital, Kiev, and three others travel in the opposite direction, to the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.
"People are trying to go in any which direction. But all the tickets for the coming week are sold out," station director Irina Nikolaicheva said.
Irina Khodyko, a 38-year old accountant, said she was leaving for Kiev with her 10-year old son and 12-year old daughter. Their apartment is by the once-gleaming international airport - now a bombed-out ruin in a district rendered inaccessible by the daily clashes.
"Life has become impossible. Every day they shoot. All the windows in our apartment are shot out. The children have stopped sleeping," Khodyko said.
She said insurgent forces tried to press-gang her husband into fighting, but he fled.
"The Ukrainian army is in no rush to liberate us. They have just abandoned us, and we are forced to get ourselves out of this mess," she said.
Koziyatko, the businessman, has been forced to close his lumber and building equipment supply business, which employed 17 people, after more than half his workers left Donetsk.
"The smartest, best-educated and most talented people are fleeing. And who is going to stay?" he asked.

Bijvoorbeeld omdat de rebellen vanaf de Russische grens schieten op het Oekrainse leger terugschiet en te ver doorschiet ....
Mocht het zover zijn dan zal het wel snel duidelijk worden. Ik sla dit soort berichten over totdat ze onmiskenbaar zijn.

Wat Strelkov en Borodai hier doen, valt onder het kopje oorlogsmisdaden. Vanuit hun motieven of idealen beslissen ze voor een hele samenleving wat wenselijk is. Daarbij zetten ze massaal mensenlevens op het spel. Er is geen juridisch of democratisch kader dat hun rol rechtvaardigt. Zij zijn niet gekozen door de bevolking van Donbass (geen democratie), ze laten zich niets gezeggen door Oekraine (het legitieme gezag), ze zijn niet eens inwoners van Donbass. Ze hebben dit al eerder gedaan in Bosni, Transnistri & Tsjetsjeni.quote:

Beide. Er is een interpretatie die de Romantiek ziet als een reactie op de verlichting. Er is echter net zoveel voor te zeggen, dat de romantiek een reactie is op het autocratische bestuursmodel waar de verlichting zelf ook een reactie op is. Goethe en zijn bewonderaars in Duitsland verwelkomde de komst van Napoleon, in de hoop dat hij een modern bestuur zou brengen. Napoleon stond toen nog bekent als een voorvechter van de verlichting. Goethe is een bekende romanticus. Zijn kleuren theorie is een reactie op Newtons kleuren theorie, die van Newton modern rationeel en die van Goethe gevoelsmatig romantisch.quote:

Een belangrijke reden waarom het allemaal niet goed te vangen is in simpele stromingen, is dat veel representanten zelf op meerdere gedachten hinken en zelden het allemaal helder begrijpen in termen van de latere classificaties. Newton was tevens een theoloog (en alchemist). Goethe beschouwde zijn kleurentheorie als zijn beste werk, en zag zichzelf tevens als wetenschapper. Napoleon profileerde zichzelf als een man van de verlichting en werd dictator.
In de filosofie en natuurwetenschappen begint de verlichting al rond 1600 (Galilei, Decartes, Hobbes, Hugo de Groot, Spinoza, Leibniz, Newton). Maar volgens de historici en menswetenschappen begint de verlichting pas in de 18e eeuw.
In de natuurwetenschappen ziet men een mechanisering van het wereldbeeld als de basis van een nieuw wereldbeeld, waar de moderne tijd uit voortvloeit. In de menswetenschappen is Jonathan Israel bezig de geesten rijp te maken, dat de verlichting al eerder begon dan de 18e eeuw: de radicale verlichting. Maar hij lijkt de koppeling met de mechanisering van het wereldbeeld nog niet te hebben gelegd.
Volgens mij is er nog steeds een kloof tussen mens en natuurwetenschappen. Slechts enkelen overzien het heel speelveld van geschiedenis, filosofie, natuur- en mens wetenschap. Hoewel op zijn manier ook beperk, is Russels boek "Geschiedenis van de westerse filosofie" nog steeds aan te bevelen. Dit is het eerste boek, waarin een vooraanstaand filosoof de geschiedenis van de filosofie interpreteert in het licht van de maatschappelijke en politieke ontwikkelingen, die kennis heeft van de natuurwetenschappen.
