Maar het gebeurd wel, ik kijk indy sinds 15 jaar geleden ofzo toen het op eurosport nog te zien was. Heb genoeg races gezien die een stuk langer duurde door allerlei gele vlaggen enzo dus het komt wel vaker voor. Misschien kan ik me het niet meer goed herinneren dat het toen ook maar max 2 uur was.

IndyCar team owners are again calling upon the series to drop the idea of alternate body kits for 2013.

The series originally planned to allow bodywork other than the standard Dallara parts to be made available for the new DW12 car this year, but eventually delayed the move until next season after concerns from team owners about the additional cost.

Team owners met with series CEO Randy Bernard in Detroit last weekend to clear the air after Bernard tweeted last week that there was a push from within one team to have him removed from his post, and Rahal Letterman Lanigan's Bobby Rahal told AUTOSPORT that bodywork was one of the issues that was raised.

"Some of the concerns [from the teams] are about cost," he said. "But some of it is also the ability to fix carbon work in non-sanctioned places."

Rahal is hopeful that the issue will be dealt with quickly.

"I thought the meeting was very constructive," he said. "I don't think there were any real answers, but the owners certainly made their case and the atmosphere was respectful. I think now IndyCar has to go back and deal with the concerns that the owners have, and we expect to hear something in the next couple of weeks."

Speaking in Detroit on Sunday, Bernard said that he was sensitive to the teams' concerns.

"We do have issues, and part of my job is trying to work with them on cost control and bringing costs down," he said. "I don't think that we're taking a position of, 'too bad'. We're taking a position of, 'we need to help you, and we're going to work with you to try to bring those costs down.'"

General Motors, Honda and Lotus have already expressed an intention to build their own bodykits in 2013, while Dallara has also explored creating an alternative aero kit ether under its own name or on a contract basis for another company. The kits are expected to cost $75,000 each, with teams needing separate kits for road/street courses and ovals.

Road America was eerder een populaire race op de Champ Car-kalender.

This year's IndyCar Series will remain at 15 races after series organisers decided not to replace its planned Chinese event.

It was announced on June 13 that the Qingdao street race, scheduled to take place on August 19, would not go ahead, reducing the calendar from 16 events to 15.

Since then a number of alternative venues have been suggested as replacements, with both oval and road courses considered.

But on Monday, IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard confirmed that there would be no further adjustments to the scheduld this year.

"After carefully considering all possible options for an additional race, we felt it was in our best interest to keep our schedule at its current 15-event lineup," said Bernard.

"We want to make sure that when we add events to our roster they have long-term potential and are given every opportunity to be successfully promoted. The more we explored, the more we felt like we were rushing what could be good, long-lasting opportunities for the sport.

"I thank all of the promoters who entertained the possibility of hosting the IndyCar Series this season. It certainly validated what we already knew - there's a lot of interest from venues across North America in hosting our sport."

The series has also announced that the season finale at Fontana on September 15 will be extended from 400 to 500 miles. The two-mile superspeedway last hosted a 500 mile IndyCar event in 2002, which was won by Jimmy Vasser.

IndyCar will reintroduce its 'push to pass' overtaking aid for the five remaining road and street courses on the 2012 schedule, starting with next weekend's Toronto round.

Series technical boss Will Phillips said that the system would be similar to that used when it was originally introduced in 2009.

"It will be similar to what it was in the past because we know that model worked," he said.

The amount of additional boost and the amount of time that the extra boost will be available will be pre-determined by the series, and will vary depending upon the circuit.

Recharge time and any delays between activations will also be set by the series, although engine manufacturers will be able to make specific adjustments to tailor the system to their engine.

As part of the introduction of push to pass, the base turbo boost level will drop to 150 kPa, and increase by 10 kPa when the system is engaged.

Teams will have an opportunity to test the system early in the Toronto race weekend.

Rubens Barrichello is set to switch from KV Racing to a rival squad for the 2013 IndyCar season.

The 40-year-old Brazilian has endured a frustrating transition to racing in North America after leaving Formula 1 at the end of last season, with just five finishes inside the top 10 and a best result of seventh.

It was widely assumed that his close relationship with fellow KV driver Tony Kanaan - who engineered his move to IndyCar – would be enough to keep him with the team next year.

However, Barrichello said that he has no qualms about moving from the squad owned by Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser to a team that can deliver on his aim to run at the front.

AUTOSPORT understands that he has already held advanced talks with at least one Honda-powered team about a drive next year.

"I don't like being 15th, and I am working myself up," Barrichello told AUTOSPORT. "I'm getting better in comparison with my team-mates, but my car is still not. And the strategy side still hasn't clicked.

"I'm fairly open to [KV owners] Jimmy [Vasser] and Kevin [Kalkhoven]; they gave me a car, and we had a situation where the deal was done in the last 20 minutes. But I'm here to win.

"Now that I have done IndyCar, I want to do it better, because I don't think I was able to do what I am really capable of for one reason or another. And since I do this because I enjoy doing it, I might as well come back."

Turn 9A (the chicane similar to Spa's new Bus Stop) is being widened by ten feet (~3 meters) to allow for more room. Dat hebben ze vrijdag na de eerste trainingen gedaan omdat de auto's airborn werden door de hoge snelheid over de tramrails. De chicane haalde de snelheid eruit waardoor dat minder is, maar niet helemaal weg is.
