Kimi Raikkonen will still be a former Grand Prix driver in 2011, having indicated that he would not be interested in doing a deal to go back to Formula One next year.
Recent speculation linking him to Renault’s F1 outfit was vigorously denied by Raikkonen, and the Finn is now fully committed to rallying.
“I enjoy rallying and I want to carry on, but we have to find a solution,” said the 30-year-old, who claimed the Formula One title in 2007. “Hopefully we can sort out the situation soon. But there are no guarantees.”
His manager Steve Robertson confirmed that the emphasis has shifted away from Formula One for Raikkonen, the winner of 18 Grands Prix. “We’re no longer looking at opportunities in F1,” added Robertson. “Kimi seems to be focussed on rallying at the moment.”
The Finn has so far failed to conclude a deal with his backer Red Bull to keep him in the Citroen Junior Team, although his management is working on a deal to keep him within the Citroen fold with reduced funding. Options from MINI and the Monster World Rally Team are also on the table.
“We’re talking to lots of different people,” confirmed Raikkonen. “There are some good possibilities. It’s not something I’m worried about.”
While Citroen’s Olivier Quesnel has previously stated that Raikkonen is “not fast enough’, Ford team principal Malcolm Wilson is one of the Finn’s big supporters.
“Some people have said they can’t see the value in what Kimi is doing,” said Wilson. “Well, for me, he’s brought great value in the WRC. Having him in the sport has raised the profile, created a stir and a story this season. Okay, he’s still learning, but there’s a heck of a lot more to come from him - and he’s still Kimi Raikkonen.”

Ik denk eerlijk gezegd dat Virgin tot best wel wat in staat is. Als je ziet hoe ze zich het hele jaar ontwikkeld hebben. Daarnaast hebben ze in het begin van het jaar toch best wel veel tijd verloren vanwege de te kleine brandstoftank. Toch doen ze op dit moment nog niet veel onder voor Lotus en staan ze sowieso qua pure snelheid een stap hoger dan HRT. Its crunch time: we have two races in the space of eight days, at the end of which well know the identity of the 2010 world champion. It doesnt get bigger than this and I feel 110 percent ready for the fight.
Having led the world championship for several races, I go to Brazil second in the points standings after a rough weekend in Korea. Fernando Alonso leads the championship by 11 points, but there are 50 still on the table so theres everything to play for. Im not going to change my approach; Im going to do my best and let the maths take care of itself.
Interlagos is a fantastic venue for Formula One. It has a lot of history and in many ways it reminds me of Brands Hatch. Its built on the edge of a hill, so the crowd looks down on the action and theres always a good atmosphere. The Brazilian fans love Formula One and they make a lot of noise, although the intensity of their support has dropped off a bit in recent years.
Ive never been outqualified by a team-mate at Interlagos, although I hadnt had much luck at the track until last year when I won the race. The track is defined by the long uphill drag towards the start-finish line, where engine power is important. But a twisty infield makes it an interesting aerodynamic compromise between straight-line speed and slow-corner grip.
Im confident that the RB6 will be competitive, although youre always a bit nervous about your pace during the build-up to an event. The car has been quick everywhere this year and I see no reason why it should be any different here, but well have to wait until the on-track action starts to know for sure.
More than anything, I need a clean weekend here. The weather forecast looks a bit iffy on Saturday, but itlI be the same for everyone. I can think of no better time to take another victory than now; you can be sure that Ill do everything in my power to achieve that.

Its crunch time: we have two races in the space of eight days, at the end of which well know the identity of the 2010 world champion. It doesnt get bigger than this and I feel 110 percent ready for the fight.

Mark Webber has suggested that Red Bull Racing is 'emotionally behind' his team-mate Sebastian Vettel going into the final two races of the world championship battle.
The issue of team favouritism has been a hot topic at Red Bull this year, following Webber and Vettel's collision as they fought for the lead of the Turkish Grand Prix, and the incident where Webber had to hand his upgraded front wing to Vettel before Silverstone qualifying after the German's example failed.
Webber and Vettel arrive in Brazil 11 and 25 points behind championship leader Fernando Alonso, but with the team adamant that it will continue to support both men's title bids.
When asked if he felt he was getting equal support, Webber replied: "technically everything's been very, very good" but when pressed on whether he felt he had the same level of emotional backing as Vettel, he said: "It's obvious isn't it?"
Webber added: "Of course when young, new chargers come onto the block, that's where the emotion is. That's the way it is.
"Which is absolutely fine, because I've had a great opportunity and a great car to go and do some great things this year, and I have done that.
"I've got favourites in life. I've got people I like to be with. That's how it is. It's human nature."
While the team has remained adamant that it will not impose any form of team orders, Webber said there was the potential to let both championships slip away if Red Bull did not handle the final races correctly.
"I'm a driver, and I think that of course you increase your risk of that happening if you race each other and potentially take each other out, or race as hard as you want all the way to the end then you might not get certain championships," he said.
"But it's certainly not my decision and what I think is really all that important to how we will probably go about it. You'd need to ask the people who run the team."
He was not sure how he would feel about supporting Vettel if the points positions were reversed.
"It's a tough question and a tough situation to know how you would do things," Webber admitted.
"There's a lot of really good people at this team and there's no getting away from the fact that we would love to win some championships this year.
"We're at different parts of our career as well, so it's not as easy as some might imagine. I'd need to think a lot further about that.
"For different reasons here and there, obviously Seb's never led the championship this year and I have, so whatever happens in all the races we've had, we've now got two races to go and that's what the scoreboard says.
"Whatever the best way we go about handling trying to win the championship, we'll see on the Monday after Abu Dhabi if it was the right way."
He insisted he could still be satisfied with his season even if he ultimately missed out on the title despite leading the standings for much of the year.
"If you had asked me at the start of the year, I have a chance of winning the championship, I've won four races, I've had nine podiums, it's been a sensational year for me," Webber said.
"I can still put the icing on the cake and I'd love to be able to do that. If we don't, then the sun still comes up on Monday morning."
Webber also dismissed Gerhard Berger's allegation that he had allowed his car to run back across the road during his Korean Grand Prix crash because he had been keen to try and eliminate one of his title rivals. The spinning Red Bull collected Nico Rosberg's Mercedes in the incident.
"I know Gerhard's had some pretty nasty accidents in his time and so have I - Le Mans, Valencia..." said Webber.
"I'd never put myself or anyone else in any more danger than I need to. I've lost control of the car and [Berger's saying] all of a sudden I've regained control of the car and try and take people out... I'm a genius, aren't I?"
When asked if he was surprised that Berger's comments came on the Red Bull-owned Servus TV station, Webber replied: "absolutely".

“Als hij het doet dan zal hij het circuit van Interlagos met handboeien verlaten,” luidde de krachtige uitspraak van Paulo Castilho.
Massa kan dus maar beter uitkijken wat hij doet tijdens de GP van Brazilië. Uiteraard staan ook de rijders van Red Bull en McLaren dezelfde mogelijke straf te wachten bij een gelijkaardig incident.
