Goed punt van Button, alleen heb ik me twijfels of ze naar m gaan luisteren..quote:Jenson Button has told his Honda team bosses to keep Rubens Barrichello on in 2009 and not replace him with one of the young charges the team is testing this month in Spain.
Honda will be trying out Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi this month at Barcelona and has yet to confirm its driver line-up for 2009, although it is widely rumoured Button has already been retained in secret.
But Button believes his and Barrichello's combined experience will be a better option for the team with all the new regulations in 2009 than throwing an rookie into the fray.
"There are so many changes with the car with aerodynamics, KERS and slick tyres that the team will need lots of feedback from us," Button was quoted as saying by Autosport. "Having a new guy in the car, I don't feel you'll get as much feedback, but it's not my decision."
"Rubens has driven better this year than at any point since he joined Honda," he added. "This is his best season and he says he is driving better now than he ever has done, and he doesn't lie."

quote:Brawn wants engine performance equalised
Honda Racing team principal Ross Brawn has added his weight to calls that engines must have their performance equalised next year - claiming that not to put all of Formula One's car manufacturers on a level playing field would be 'unfair'.
Opinions among teams are divided at the moment about whether the FIA should act to equalise engines next year – amid suspicions that some manufacturers have managed to improve the performance of their frozen power units through modifications allowed to solve reliability problems.
The FIA announced earlier this year that engines would be equalised providing that cost cutting measures were introduced for 2009 – although a final package of rules has not yet been finalised.
Renault boss Flavio Briatore has led the calls to get engines equalised, and in Brazil was believed to have resisted attempts to make a dramatic reduction in testing unless power units are put on an even keel.
Brawn has backed Briatore's calls for engine parity – thinking it makes perfect sense for the regulations to even things up at the end of each year.
"We have to have a sensible equilibrium, and it does need fettling all the time," said Brawn. "You know what you feel is the correct equilibrium, and you know you're going to have to adjust it because you didn't quite get it right. That is part of the process as far as I am concerned.
"The homologated engine has served a purpose, and those who have had an advantage from it should be glad they had their advantage and be prepared to (accept change). The rules say fair and equitable – and I don't think it is fair and equitable at the moment."
Brawn believes that making engines equal in performance is even more vital because of the length of the freeze – which originally started out as a 10-year plan.
"Our situation on record is that we think the concept of a frozen engine without some parity system is not very fair," he said. "It is partly because of the time involved.
"If you said, right we are going to freeze the engine, you guys did a great job and you will get an advantage for a year and then we will find some way to bring it all together, I think everyone would understand that.
"But to say you are going to freeze an engine, originally for 10 years, then there is bound to be a league table of performance. So whoever is at the top maintains that advantage for 10 years and whoever is at the bottom maintains that disadvantage for 10 years. It just doesn't seem right.
"And the other thing that is happening is that in order to reduce costs, a number of avenues of car development are being reduced. There is a lot of discussion about a reduction in testing, and a lot of discussion about reduction in investment and aero development.
"If you shrink all those things, then the scope to recover performance if you have not got the best engine gets reduced.
"If you shrunk all this down to the minimum – so there was nothing you could do on the car - the best driver would then look at the league table of engines and says I am driving with that engine this year. He goes to the team with that (best) engine, the cars are all the same, so why should he not win every race?"
Discussions among teams to equalise engine performance for next year are further complicated by the move to making power-units last for three races in 2009.
Some teams claim that it will be wrong to base any equalisation on the performance of this year's power plants because tweaking that will be necessary for next season could hamper some engines more than others.

bold =quote:Ferrari boss smashed TV after F1 finale
MILAN (Reuters) – Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo smashed a television set after seeing McLaren's Lewis Hamilton snatch the Formula One world title from Felipe Massa in last weekend's season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix.
"I broke the television, I must tell the truth," Montezemolo told a news conference at a Ferrari event in Mugello on Sunday.
"When a television breaks it makes a terrible bang. My daughter in the other room was given an awful fright. Luckily we had another television so I was able to watch the podium ceremony, which I enjoyed."
Ferrari's Massa won his home grand prix and was poised for championship victory before Hamilton overtook a slowing Timo Glock on the final bend to finish in the fifth place he needed to clinch the title.
"I reckon that in the history of F1, we have never seen a world championship decided on the last bend of the last lap of the last grand prix," added Montezemolo, who saw Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen steal the title last season in the final race.
"Miracles, when they happen, usually only happen once. I say that because last year was a miracle. A repeat is usually impossible. In Brazil, with Massa, we were in the process of producing another miracle."
BOARD THREAT
Montezemolo had words of praise for Raikkonen. The Finn was out of the running for the title this year but helped Ferrari to retain the constructors' championship and spurred on Massa.
"Kimi has been a world champion right up to the last race this year. He has contributed to two constructors' titles," he said. "His points were fundamental. With all respect for Lewis Hamilton...I'm happy with my drivers, the best pair in the world."
Montezemolo, who is also head of the Formula One Teams Association, reaffirmed that costs had to be cut in the difficult financial environment.
"Like with the idea of three grands prix per engine, we have made ourselves reduce the cost from 20 million ($25.6 million) to 10 million euros per engine," he added.
"We are working with all the teams to further reduce costs for 2010 and 2011. Unanimously we have decided that by 2011 an engine will cost five million."
The idea of a standard engine for all teams from 2010 has also been suggested but Ferrari's board has threatened to review its presence in Formula One if the cost-saving plan goes ahead.
"It is unthinkable that constructors like Ferrari, Toyota, Mercedes, Honda, Renault and BMW could accept putting their badge on a car with an engine made by others," he said.
"This is because innovation, research and development in F1 have reverberations on industrial production."

Alleen 'advies' dus.quote:McLaren won't decide Force India drivers
By Edd Straw and Jonathan Noble
Monday, November 10th 2008, 14:20 GMT
McLaren have dropped a firm hint that they will recommend who their preferred drivers are for new team partners Force India, but have insisted they will not impose their will on the Silverstone-based team.
Force India announced on Monday that they have entered into a five-year partnership arrangement with McLaren, which will in this first instance see them receive a supply of Mercedes-Benz engine, gearbox, KERS and other 'operational' assistance.
While discussions between Force India and McLaren were ongoing, speculation surfaced that Mercedes-Benz DTM racer Paul di Resta and McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa could be in the frame for drives next season.
But speaking to autosport.com on Monday, McLaren F1 CEO Martin Whitmarsh made it clear that his team would not make such demands on Force India - although he said they would likely make recommendations about such things as drivers.
"There's nothing off bounds in this partnership," said Whitmarsh. "Vijay has shown a lot of confidence in his commitment and investment in this partnership and us.
"We'll sit down and talk about every aspect of the programme, and that extends beyond the process development and the powertrain. We've got to work together on all those things.
"We will make proposals and recommendations that we think are enhancing the prospect of good performance. Vijay is an enormously successful entrepreneur in his own right in many fields, and if he turned all of those attentions to Formula One he would be an awesome competitor for all of us.
"The reality is that I suspect he has some staggering business commitments outside of Formula One and he would expect us, as a specialist professional in this field, to make all of the recommendations that are necessary to go forward.
"At the end of the day, we've got to be respectful that Force India are a team in their own right. They are a partner, but although there will be a range of strident suggestions and recommendations, this team have to decide. It's in his hands.
"This isn't a takeover by McLaren. This is an independent team that we happen to be partnering, and I hope that we can bring business benefit to this organisation."
Force India team principal Vijay Mallya admitted that he would listen to McLaren's advice about drivers – although said there were bigger issues to deal with at the moment.
"Martin put it very well - they will recommend what will be in the best interests of my team and I will be hard pressed to ignore their advice," he said. "First we have to build a car.
"If we don't have a car then there's no point having a driver! The whole idea is first to get a car now. It's already pushing the envelope a little bit, so we need to focus on the car. The driver comes next.
"We will have these conversations. McLaren will take as much pride in the interests of Force India as I do and whatever Martin suggests I will take seriously as being in my best interests. We will talk about it. A driver is just one element."
Whitmarsh also made it clear that there was no suggestion of Force India becoming a McLaren B-team, or even simply running customer cars.
The deal has been put in place in such a way that it is not in breach of the Concorde Agreement, the document by which F1 is run, which effectively outlaws customer cars.
"We are assuming that the provisions of the old Concorde Agreement are in place," said Whitmarsh. "We are able to supply the identical powertrain in the previous framework. We are also able to help develop the capability processes and procedures of this team.
"In reality that's good. It's good for the workforce here, and the pride that they take. That's making a longer-term investment. If Concorde allowed and/or we decided to hand across our car and make it a customer team, a B-team or whatever, it may create a happy partner in the short-term but it doesn't build this team for the long-term.
"I believe Vijay wants to achieve success as early as he can, but he has the vision and the commitment that he'd see, rather than a shell of a team with the cars delivered from Woking, an organisation that is stronger and has the ability at the end of this agreement to have the self-belief and confidence in a very respectable manner to go on on its own."
