Barring some deus ex machina action, Hand of God is done at Amazon.
The Ron Perlman-Dana Delany drama will end after its upcoming second season, per The Hollywood Reporter.
“We’re wrapping up the storyline in Season 2, which debuts next year, and are excited to bring it to customers,” an Amazon rep tells TVLine.
The streaming video service will release Season 2 sometime in 2017. Hand of God was renewed for a sophomore run in December.

That was fast: After just one airing, This Is Us has snagged a full(ish)-season pickup of 18 episodes, NBC announced Tuesday.
Enthused executive producer Dan Fogelman in a statement: “This order for a complete first season of 18 episodes is exactly what we’d wanted and hoped for. We’d carefully mapped out an 18-chapter story for the first year of the show, and this allows us to follow through with our exact initial intent. And to get the order so early on is a tremendous show of confidence and a boost for our entire cast and crew.”
The twisty family drama debuted last Tuesday to 10.1 million total viewers and a 2.8 demo rating, delivering the Big 4’s highest-rated drama debut since last fall’s Supergirl. It also marked NBC’s highest-rated scripted program in the time slot in more than six years, since an April 2010 episode of Parenthood.

Amazon has renewed Bosch for Season 4, well ahead of the crime drama’s Season 3 premiere.
“We are excited to announce the fourth season renewal of Amazon Prime Video’s longest running original drama series,” Amazon Studios VP Roy Price said in a statement. “Prime members have loved following Detective Harry Bosch as he navigates difficult situations in his professional and personal lives, and we’re excited to let them know that even more is coming.”

“Our team has worked very hard to create the most realistic detective show possible and I think that is resonating with viewers,” Connelly said. “Titus and the rest of the cast and crew are dedicated to this. We are raising the storytelling bar with Season 3 and we’ll do it again in 4.”

CBS is going to the distance with three of its rookie series, ordering full seasons of Bull, Kevin Can Wait and MacGyver. The “back nine” pickups mean all three series’ will produce 22 episodes in their inaugural runs.
Bull — starring Michael Weatherly as a pre-Oprah’d Dr. Phil — has thus far proven to be a worthy
Tuesday companion to Weatherly’s alma mater NCIS. In its first three outings, the show — which is fall’s most-watched new series — is averaging 14.6 million live viewers and a 2.1 demo rating, improving 2on NCIS: New Orleans’ Season 2 average in the time slot (13 mil/1.8).
The Kevin James-fronted Kevin Can Wait, with 10.4 mil and a 2.5, is fall’s No. 1 comedy in both measures, while MacGyver (9.3 mil/1.4) has improved on The Amazing Race’s Fall 2015 average (5.9 mil/1.1) in the Friday lead-off spot.
“We’re thrilled viewers have embraced these three shows creatively,” said CBS’ entertainment president Glenn Geller in a statement. “Each one has made an immediate and positive impact on our schedule, while significantly contributing to growing their respective nights.”

quote:The Simpsons Renewed at Fox Through Record-Setting Season 30
The Simpsons will outlive us all every future generation to come.
Fox on Friday renewed the classic ‘toon for two more seasons — through Season 30. The pickup will bring Homer & Co. to a record 669 episodes, easily surpassing Gunsmoke (635) as the scripted series with the most episodes under its belt.
In a statement, Homer Simpson (with a little help from Fox’s PR crew, no doubt) bragged, “Take that Gunsmoke! You lost a race you didn’t even know you were running!”
The Simpsons, which is currently in its 28th season, will formally surpass Gunsmoke‘s episode total in Season 29.
“This is yet another record-setting moment for what is truly a landmark series,” said Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group. “The Simpsons has meant so much to the network, the studio and everyone at Fox, and its continued cultural impact around the globe is a testament to the combined brilliance of [exec producers] Matt, Jim and Al.”

quote:Berlin Station and Graves Both Renewed for Season 2 by Epix
Epix’s first two scripted series are both getting a Season 2.
Berlin Station and Graves have both been renewed for a second season, Epix announced on Thursday. Spy thriller Berlin Station stars Hannibal alum Richard Armitage as a CIA operative stationed in Berlin who’s trying to find the source of a damaging leak; Graves is a half-hour political dramedy starring Nick Nolte as a former U.S. President attempting to salvage his legacy decades after leaving the White House.
Both series premiered last month on Epix, a pay-cable network that launched in 2009 and is now in more than 50 million homes. Production on Season 2 for both is set to begin in spring 2017. Also in the works at Epix: a TV remake of the 1995 film Get Shorty, with Ray Romano and Bridesmaids‘ Chris O’Dowd set to star.
“We’re incredibly proud of the work our creators, executive producers, cast and crew did on the first seasons of Berlin Station and Graves,” Epix president and CEO Mark S. Greenberg said in a statement. “These ambitious series represent the level of prestigious, cinematic and authentic storytelling we are committed to offering our subscribers.”

quote:The Night Shift Renewed for Season 4
Having proven to have steady vitals, NBC’s The Night Shift has been renewed for Season 4, TVLine has learned.
Averaging 5 million total weekly viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, The Night Shift easily bested the likes of CBS’ Zoo (4.5 mil/0.7) and Fox’s Wayward Pines (2.4 mil/0.7) to stand as this past summer’s No. 1 drama. (Fainter praise alert: The medical sudser also was undefeated in its Wednesdays-at-10 time slot this summer, opposite CBS’ American Gothic and ABC reruns.)
The Night Shift‘s Season 3 finale — which left almost every character’s fate in one kind of flux or another — earned an average grade of “A” from TVLine readers.
“Week after week, The Night Shift tells incredibly engaging and emotional stories that draw us into a unique world,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “We are delighted to renew the show for an exciting fourth season and look forward to continue working with such a great cast and executive producing team.”

quote:'Strike Back' Revived for Fifth Season at Cinemax
Cinemax is reviving its first foray into original scripted programming.
The premium cable network and U.K. collaborator Sky are bringing back Strike Back for its fifth season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The drama was renewed for its fourth and then-final season in 2013 and wrapped its run in October 2015. The new season, which will feature an entirely new cast, will resume production in 2017. A premiere date has not yet been determined.
The new incarnation will center on the Section program, disavowed and disbanded, that is restored in order to track down a notorious terrorist following a brutal prison break. Tasked with covert military intelligence and high-risk operations, the resurrected unit embarks on a lethal manhunt that will uncover a vast web of interconnected criminal activity. As the team journey across the Middle East and Europe, they uncover a deadly conspiracy which threatens to overwhelm them all and change the face of modern warfare forever.

quote:Marco Polo Cancelled by Netflix
Marco Polo‘s voyages have ended: Netflix has cancelled the globe-spanning drama after two seasons.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the cancellation, which makes Polo the first Netflix original series not to reach a third season. Lorenzo Richelmy starred as the legendary merchant who travelled from Italy to China and eventually served in the court of the Mongol ruler Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong).
Marco Polo debuted in 2014, and had a reported budget of $90 million for its first season, rivaling HBO’s Game of Thrones. But reviews were mixed, and a second season debuted this past summer to little fanfare. The combined budget for both seasons topped $200 million, according to THR, and the ultimate decision to axe the show was a mutual one between Netflix and producers The Weinstein Company.
“We want to thank and are grateful to our partners on Marco Polo,” Netflix original content VP Cindy Holland said in a statement, “from the actors, whose performances were enthralling and top-notch; to the committed producers, including John Fusco, Dan Minahan, Patrick Macmanus, and their crew, who poured their hearts into the series; and of course Harvey, David and our friends at TWC, who were great collaborators from start to finish.”
