The actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Russia's Kursk Oblast are defensive, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during a briefing, as reported by Polskie Radio.

Responding to journalists' questions about whether NATO members are concerned that weapons sent to Ukraine for defense are being used on Russian territory, he stated that Kyiv's actions are defensive.

Tusk noted that what Russian troops and Russian aviation are doing to Ukrainian territory bears signs of genocide and inhumane crimes.

"And Ukraine has every right to wage war in a way that most effectively paralyzes Russia in its aggressive intentions," the Polish Prime Minister said.

He added that the Polish side maintains constant contact with the Ukrainian side at the highest political level. He also admitted that he was not surprised by "such an unconventional and for some unexpected change in the situation at the front."

"But of course, it's not about consultations where someone in Kyiv agrees with me on which day and where someone will move," explained the head of the Polish government.

The country's Prime Minister emphasized that Warsaw's position on the war in Ukraine has not changed.

"We support Ukraine in a war that is a defensive war," he stated.

The woman was in touch with Ukrainian intelligence via Signal app, Russian authorities say.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested an employee of a military unit in southern Russia for allegedly spying for Ukraine.

According to a report issued by the FSB in the Rostov region, the woman was already in contact with the Ukrainian side when she joined a unit in the Southern Military District in January 2023.

“She collected information of various kinds about the arsenals, bases and warehouses that are part of the district,” the FSB was quoted saying in the statement, Russian state news agency TASS reported Tuesday.

The arrest comes one week after Ukrainian troops launched a surprise offensive into Russian territory last Tuesday, pushing into parts of the southern Kursk region, before expanding the campaign to the neighboring Belgorod region.

According to the FSB report, the woman had contacted representatives of Ukraine’s military intelligence through the Signal messaging app, which was recently blocked in Russia for alleged “violations” of the country’s legislation.

"She handed over the collected data to a foreign intelligence service during correspondence in the messenger," the FSB statement continued.

The Russian authorities did not disclose the woman’s identity who, they say, is now being detained on charges of high treason.

On Monday, Ukraine's top commander Oleksandr Syrskyi claimed that the Kyiv's forces had gained control of 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory, marking the biggest incursion since the start of Russian President Vladimir Putin's full-scale invasion in 2022.

On August 9, Defense Intelligence special forces raided the occupied Kinburn spit in Mykolaiv Oblast. DIU reported the destruction of six units of armored vehicles of the Russian Federation and the elimination of about 30 enemy soldiers.

Later, a video emerged of how in early August the Tsyklon group of the DIU legion struck the Russian military on the Kinburn spit: scouts hit equipment, observation points, and personnel from drones. The exact date of this is not known.

Earlier, on August 6, the special forces of the Artan active operations unit and the Maritime Center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted an operation on the Tendra spit in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson Oblast.

Russian media claim an alleged drone attack on the airfield Savasleyka in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, as well as on facilities in Voronezh Oblast.

One of the local groups on Vkontakte reported about 10 hits at the Savasleyka airfield and the closure of the city of Kulebaki, where the air base is located. This statement is distributed by various Telegram channels, but there is currently no confirmation of these claims.

Russian mass media Astra reports that locals allegedly saw drones over the settlements of Veletma and Savasleyka, which are not far from the airfield.

Savasleyka is the base of Russian MiG-31K supersonic fighters, carriers of Kinzhal missiles. The air base is located about 600 kilometers from Ukraine.

In the video at the beginning of the report, a local filmed the flight of a drone and accompanied it with the comment: "Savasleyka bound... So fed up with them."

The second video shows the work of air defense against a drone. At the end it explodes, but you can't see where exactly because of the trees.

More than 100 drones attacked various targets in Russia overnight, including several air bases. One of the targets was the Savasleyka air base in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, governor Gleb Nikitin claimed in a Telegram channel that air defense forces were “operating” in the Kulebak municipal district “to suppress the attack of fixed-wing unmanned aircraft.”

“All measures are being taken to minimize the consequences,” the governor reported.

The Baza telegram channel published a video showing attack drones flying towards the Savasleyka air base.

Een Oekra�ense man, wonend in Polen, die voordat hij gearresteerd kon worden het land ontvlucht is en dus mogelijk getipt werd. Ook is een Oekra�ens stel hier mogelijk bij betrokken die een duikschool runde waar hij werkte, maar die waren op vakantie in Bulgarije naar eigen zegge tijdens de ontploffing.

Behalve de namen en nationaliteiten van de verdachten weten we nog niet veel meer dus.

After a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in June at which the international pariahs discussed mutual cooperation, Moscow has delivered a gift to Pyongyang.

Russia sent, drumroll, 447 goats to the North Korean city of Rason, the Russian agriculture safety watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said in a press release.

The goats, which were exported from Russia’s Leningrad region, represent a first batch of farm animals that Russia intends to deliver to North Korea. The goats will provide dairy products to local children to relieve North Korea’s food shortages, mainly caused by government-related policies, with the situation getting worse during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Human Rights Watch, 10.7 million out of 25.9 million people in North Korea are malnourished, and 18 percent of children have impaired growth and development due to chronic malnutrition.

“Goat farms with a large capacity have been built in districts and counties of Nampho Municipality in the DPRK. As a result, foundation has been consolidated to smoothly provide dairy products for the children in the municipality,” reported North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency on the same day, indirectly confirming the shipment.

Russia has been cozying up to North Korea since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. North Korea has openly supported the assault and has been accused of delivering weaponry to help Russian forces on the battlefield.

Both Russia and North Korea have in the past denied claims that Pyongyang supplies weapons or ammunition to the Kremlin’s forces.

During Putin’s recent trip to North Korea, the two leaders signed an agreement that commits them to “mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the participants,” and is part of a wide-ranging treaty covering everything from education to agriculture and tourism, according to Russian state media.

She paid a working visit to Customs to Schiphol Airport on Thursday. She said at the time that maintaining trade restrictions is "an important part of support for Ukraine."

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has signed a law, making it possible to deprive people of Russian citizenship if they fail to register for military service. The amendments, passed on 8 August 2024 to Russia’s laws on military service and on citizenship confirm fears that Russia’s aggressive measures to force its citizenship on Ukrainians in occupied territory were prompted by Moscow’s plans to forcibly mobilize Ukrainian men to fight its war of aggression against Ukraine.

The law is specifically about those who have taken Russian citizenship and is clearly directed against Ukrainian men living on occupied territory. Russia is deploying an arsenal of weapons to foist its citizenship, including stripping those without Russian citizenship of their property rights, denying healthcare, even the issue of insulin and other vital medication, threatening to take people’s children away and others. Having made it next to impossible to live on occupied territory without Russian citizenship, it is now using the threat of losing this as a way of tracking down all males whom Moscow will then be able to force to fight against their compatriots. The law will also be used as pressure against the many economic migrants from former Soviet Central Asian republics who had believed that Russian citizenship would give them security and now find they are being forced into Russia’s army.
