Best wel een goede artiest, al heeft hij ook de nodige meuk gemaakt. Maar hij zou wel een notering in de Top 2000 verdienen.
De Sahara is zonder meer erg droog.
Wist niet dat ie nog leefde. In de jaren 70 draaiden mijn ouders zijn muziek vaak. Als kind dacht ik toen al dat ie al erg bejaard was.

It’s never been easy for me to post my feelings for someone close to me when thy ascend and this one is probably the second hardest for me. A little over a year ago, I got the call from fellow 24-7 Spyz member Carlton Smith phoned me to say, “Hey man I gotta bit of bad news, I’ve got brain Cancer” My heart sank! Then followed with “But I’m good. Sucks I can’t see out my right eye now so my wife Wendy has to drive me around now” The none threatening Carlton Smith, sick, fire ass drummer from Columbus Ohio member of Sire Recording artist, The Royal Crescent Mob was cool as a cucumber. Then backed it up with, “Don’t be sad for me Rick” How much did I love this brother. The story goes, Halloween nite 1987 at The Ritz The hill was opening act Faith No More, Then Royal Crescent Mob and headliner Red Hot Chili Peppers!! I went with Jimi Hazel. Not much moved the crowd as far as I can remember when Faith hit but when The Mob came up, they had this joint that started of saying Que pasa people Que Pasa hit me!! It was like some JB shit and the Drummer had his dreads tied up which made him look like a Witch Doctor (Which was my name for Carlton) crowd went nuts then of course The Peppers brought the house down. Wasn’t long after that Jimi and I connected with Carlton.. see he was the only brother on that bill playing what we was after too so we knew we had to connect! The rest is history when Carlton Smith blessed 24-7 Spyz with his laid back rock funk feel on our 6th album, Heavy Metal Soul by The Pound. Along side Joel Maitoza. “Free To Be”, “Clique”, “Let Your Fancy Flow”, and “Can’t Save The World”, four of my favorite tunes featured the rhythm of The Witch Doctor!!. March of 2023 Carlton and his lovely wife Wendy visited us in New York and we had the best time ever with love, kisses, food and laughter. That would be my lasting memory of The Witch Doctor, Carlton Smith will be sadly missed. Me and Jimi will forever be as Carlton would call us “Fuckers” and we shall meet again my friend. Job well done, give Luqman, Ronny and Greg a big hug for us. 😔🙏🏿🕊️🥁💔
