Gripen has latest AESA radar system, an advanced electronic warfare suite and all the bells and whistles you can expect.
But the best part is Gripen was custom design to fight against Russian jets and it is very effective in that mission.
Because it is not stealth, Gripen relies on becoming "invisible" by jamming and tricking the enemy's radar... The enemy knows there is a Gripen somewhere but it cannot target it before the enemy radar in within the Gripen's weapon envelope.
Once the Russians can track the Gripen, there are already missiles heading for the Russian radar / missile system.
With sensor fusion, Gripen can also detect stealth airplanes. Remember that stealth does not mean "invisible", it merely means that a stealth plane returns very little radar energy back to the enemy radar... Much of stealth is about scattering enemy radar waves, once scattered, those waves can be detected by other radars.
By triangulating radar fluctuations, enough sensors positionned in many different directions can triangulate the source of the scattering, essentially unmasking a stealth plane.

Is alweer even geleden dus maar als ik het goed herinner wordt alle informatie uit die Awacs e.d. centraal verzameld in Europa en dan de oceaan overgestuurd naar de VS. Die hebben daar dan een paar duizend man zitten die continue die info analyseren en filteren, en dan nuttige informatie terugsturen. Dat kan redelijk snel (ik dacht orde grootte tientallen minuten).
