"Stugnabat"
The results of our battle against Russian VDV near Hostomel.
Just a day before we were still holding the Russian relentless attacks near Stoianka south of Irping then i remembber our commander came at night and told us to get all our equipment and get to our trucks as fast as possible we moving to Hostomel.
Everyone was a little shocked and started to ask but who going to replace us here? i remember his heavy breath he answered no one the TD will manage somehow but if we will not stop the huge column of Russians armor we might lose Kyiv.
Soon after we already were moving toward out designated intersection for defense, i remember one of my friends asked him what's the chances and whats the expected enemy forces, he said not great but he said we need to hold for 2 days and then we will get reinforcement probably... i was kind of shocked but knew we don't have too much choice as to hold those positions and hope for the best.
When we settled our defenses after arriving we met 10-12 police guys who came to reinforce us and integrated them in our defenses Me and another 3 Israelis and 2 Ukrainians decided to ask permission to scout the enemy forces before their arrival since we didn't had much
intel of the enemy column that splitted at the entrance of the city and we needed to know for what we need to prepare I wouldn't describe the methods for scouting for obvious reasons as we still use them.
After we understood we came with the report that 3 tanks around 8 BMPS and 120-150 enemy soldiers coming towards our positions in the first wave.
Still not horrible chances we had around 60 guys but without any armor or artillery support so the only tolls we had were our AT we still didn't had the equipment we have now.
After some planning we decided to use the triangle ambush on the intersection, its when try to pull the main force towards you and 2 other elements try to flank the enemy armor from both sides of the road.
Its a risky method as the "baiting force" probably will take a lot casualties and also blue on blue chances with other elements, but we didn't had too much choices.
When the enemy approach us we waited for the armor to approach first outside the city our target was to eliminate the 3 tanks as fast as possible so we sent another detachment that would target specifically the tanks and will get to the urban area to our other forces as fast as possible.
Miraculously with very inferior means we managed to destroy one tank and detract the other two.
Then they started to assault our main defenses position with BMPS and infantry behind them after the first BMPS were hit our flanking detachments opened fire with RPG on other 2 BMPS that were the last ones in the Russian advancing column and started to change positions every shot we made after around a hour of insane firefight we managed disable and destroy all 8 BMPS and our main defense forces joined us in order to help clear the Russian infantry were hiding in the buildings and stores around the intersection it was one hell of fight as we cleared house after house for around 10 hours until the remaining Russian infantry decided to flee.
It was 14 hours of hell and fire without stop for single moment we lost unfortunately 2 police members and 1 of the guys from our battalion and had many injured but we somehow holded it.
We eliminated all the armor of the enemy as they abandoned the tanks also and managed to neutralize around 60 of their infantry and take another three as prisoners. That's how looked my first day Hostomel.
We held this positions for four days we were told to retreat as we bought enough time to other forces to set defenses from behind us.
