Strikt juridisch gezien is het misschien correct. Ja, het is dermate breed gesteld dat je je de grondwettelijkheid ook nog wel kunt afvragen. Maar in dit geval is denk ik geen sprake van "in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States". Althans, het gaat in feite over Iran, niet de VS, hoewel iemand anders met wat andere uitleg er toch ook wel komt dat het er wel onder zou vallen.quote:

Niet heel verrassend verder, maar goed om te weten.
Hopelijk geeft hij zijn zetel op voor 30 mei zodat het met de midterms meedoet. Als zijn zetel niet vrijkomt voor 30 mei, maar wel vrij komt voor het einde van zijn termijn, wijst de governor van Arizona tot de verkiezingen in 2020 een vervanger aan.

Dus, zelfs al zou deze rechter oordelen dat Muellers team te breed heeft geopereerd in deze ene zaak, wat niet direct voor de hand ligt, dan nog zegt dat niet zoveel over het bredere onderzoek, wat door hele andere oorzaken is begonnen dan sec Manafort.
Rondschieten door bewapende bezoekers had waarschijnlijk tot een nog hoger dodental geleid. Het klinkt nogal cru, maar in dat geval geeft de gemiddelde burger toch de voorkeur aan castraties en verwijderde ogen.quote:

Aides to Donald Trump, the US president, hired an Israeli private intelligence agency to orchestrate a “dirty ops” campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal, the Observer can reveal.
People in the Trump camp contacted private investigators in May last year to “get dirt” on Ben Rhodes, who had been one of Barack Obama’s top national security advisers, and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, as part of an elaborate attempt to discredit the deal.
The extraordinary revelations come days before Trump’s 12 May deadline to either scrap or continue to abide by the international deal limiting Iran’s nuclear programme.
Jack Straw, who as foreign secretary was involved in earlier efforts to restrict Iranian weapons, said: “These are extraordinary and appalling allegations but which also illustrate a high level of desperation by Trump and [the Israeli prime minister] Benjamin Netanyahu, not so much to discredit the deal but to undermine those around it.”
One former high-ranking British diplomat with wide experience of negotiating international peace agreements, requesting anonymity, said: “It’s bloody outrageous to do this. The whole point of negotiations is to not play dirty tricks like this.”
Sources said that officials linked to Trump’s team contacted investigators days after Trump visited Tel Aviv a year ago, his first foreign tour as US president. Trump promised Netanyahu that Iran would never have nuclear weapons and suggested that the Iranians thought they could “do what they want” since negotiating the nuclear deal in 2015. A source with details of the “dirty tricks campaign” said: “The idea was that people acting for Trump would discredit those who were pivotal in selling the deal, making it easier to pull out of it.”
According to incendiary documents seen by the Observer, investigators contracted by the private intelligence agency were told to dig into the personal lives and political careers of Rhodes, a former deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, and Kahl, a national security adviser to the former vice-president Joe Biden. Among other things they were looking at personal relationships, any involvement with Iran-friendly lobbyists, and if they had benefited personally or politically from the peace deal.

The 13 people charged in the high-profile indictment in February are considered unlikely to ever appear in a U.S. court. The three businesses accused of facilitating the alleged Russian troll farm operation — the Internet Research Agency, Concord Management, and Concord Catering — were also expected to simply ignore the American criminal proceedings.
Last month, however, a pair of Washington-area lawyers suddenly surfaced in the case, notifying the court that they represent Concord Management. POLITICO reported at the time that the move appeared to be a bid to force Mueller’s team to turn over relevant evidence to the Russian firm and perhaps even to bait prosecutors into an embarrassing dismissal in order to avoid disclosing sensitive information.
On Friday, Mueller’s prosecutors disclosed that Concord’s attorneys, Eric Dubelier and Kate Seikaly, had made a slew of discovery requests demanding nonpublic details about the case and the investigation. Prosecutors also asked a judge to postpone the formal arraignment of Concord Management set for next week.
The prosecution team sought the delay on the grounds that it’s unclear whether Concord Management formally accepted the court summons related to the case. Ik heb helemaal geen haat tegen China of Iran sowieso een domme stelling. Als je de regio en relaties een beetje in de gaten hield kon je weten dat het begon met toenadering en warme woorden tussen China en de VS. Veel van deze anderzijdse acties begonnen pas begonnen nadat China niet over de brug kwam om iets te doen aan het handelstekort en rondom haar eigen 'verkiezingen' hetzelfde beleid waar zoveel duscussie over was (invloed in buitenlandse bedrijcen etc.) nog maar eens verstevigde. Akkoord met Taiwan is verdere vervreemding van China. Het nut ervoor is er niet. Handelsoorlog wint niemand wat mee. NK benaderde Trump, niet andersom.
