Was het al bekend dat die Nunes het originele document waar zijn vage memo op gebaseerd is niet eens gelezen heeft? Gaat zo snel hier....

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

Since 1993, the Department of Energy has had to be ready to conduct a nuclear test within two to three years if ordered by the President. Late last year, the Trump Administration ordered the department to be ready, for the first time, to conduct a short-notice nuclear test in as little as six months.
That is not enough time to install the warhead in shafts as deep as 4,000 ft. and affix all the proper technical instrumentation and diagnostics equipment. But the purpose of such a detonation, which the Administration labels “a simple test, with waivers and simplified processes,” would not be to ensure that the nation’s most powerful weapons were in operational order, or to check whether a new type of warhead worked, a TIME review of nuclear-policy documents has found. Rather, a National Nuclear Security Administration official tells TIME, such a test would be “conducted for political purposes.”

quote:U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has spent much of his first year trying to manage crises with North Korea, Syria, Iran and Venezuela. But he's largely alone at the highest levels of the State Department, a problem exacerbated after the senior career diplomat, Tom Shannon, announced on Thursday that he plans to leave for personal reasons.
With Shannon's departure, seven of the top nine jobs at the department will be empty. Those vacant posts include positions overseeing the agency's role in U.S. trade policy, stopping the spread of nuclear weapons, refugee issues and efforts to counter human trafficking.
The State Department and White House have traded accusations over which side is to blame for a shortage of nominations, and Tillerson has said many posts are being filled by capable career officials.
“We intend to fill these senior leadership roles,” said State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert. “In the interim, the responsibilities of the roles are carried out by career professionals. We continue to have a deep bench of experienced career professionals serving in key positions that are highly capable and able to help the Secretary lead the Department and advance U.S interests worldwide.”
But there's little doubt the pool of qualified nominees for top jobs is thin after the administration ruled out jobs for Republican foreign policy experts who opposed Trump during the election.
Morale at the department that was first led by Thomas Jefferson is also low, as Shannon joins an exodus of experienced diplomats. The U.S. ambassador to Panama quit last month, saying he could no longer represent the president.

Naja, afgezien van het feit dat de hele memo een soortemet redaction is van de intelligence, uiteraard.quote:
quote:But that's not how actual law works. In the world of actual law, there needs to be a good reason for the judge to think, once informed of the claim of bias, that the informant was just totally making it up. As United States v. Strifler shows, that isn't necessarily the case even if the government paid the informant to talk and guaranteed that they would get out of jail if they did. Nor is it necessarily the case just because the informant is in personal feud with the suspect. What matters is whether, based on the totality of the circumstances, the information came from a credible source.
That's a problem for #ReleaseTheMemo, I think. To my knowledge, Steele was not some random person motivated by an ongoing personal feud against Trump or Carter Page. To my knowledge, he was not a drug dealer facing criminal charges who was promised freedom if he could come up with something for the government's FISA application. Instead, Steele was a former MI6 intelligence officer and Russia expert. He was hired to do opposition research because of his professional reputation, expertise and contacts. And his work was apparently taken pretty seriously by United States intelligence agencies. Of course, that doesn't mean that what's in the dossier is true. Maybe the key allegations are totally wrong. But if you're trying to argue that Steele's funding sources ruin the credibility of his research, his professional training and background make that an uphill battle.
Zelfs voor Trumps doen gaat dit toch wel erg ver. Blijkbaar zit hij hem flink te knijpen, als hij de behoefte voelt om de FBI én Justice Department zo wil aanvallen.quote:Donald Trump has accused senior leadership at the department investigating potential links between his presidential campaign and Russia of developing a bias against the Republican Party.
"The top Leadership and Investigators of the FBI and the Justice Department have politicized the sacred investigative process in favor of Democrats and against Republicans - something which would have been unthinkable just a short time ago," he wrote on Twitter. "Rank & File are great people!"
