THE WHISPERS
Soo Hugh (Under the Dome) en Steven Spielberg werken wederom samen voor de nieuwe science-fictionserie The Whispers. Deze serie is gebaseerd op het kortverhaal Zero Hour die schrijver Rad Bradbury plaatste in zijn verzamelboek The Illustrated Man uit het jaar 1951. De werktitel was “The Visitors”, maar later is het project dus hernoemd naar The Whispers.
Wat gebeurt er wanneer een alienras totaal onverwachts en compleet geruisloos de aarde probeert te veroveren door gebruik te maken van de meest onschuldige bewoners (lees: kinderen) van de hele planeet? Dat staat centraal in het verhaal van The Whispers. De voormalig FBI-agent Wes Lawrence (Barry Sloane) werkt nu voor het ministerie van Defensie en onderzoekt daar geheime bedreigingen voor de mensheid. Wanneer hij afreist naar de Algerijnse woestijn doet hij een mysterieuze ontdekking: de mensheid is niet langer het enige intelligente ras op aarde..
Lawrence staat voor de lastige taak om de wereldleiders te overtuigen van zijn vondst, hierin vindt hij steun bij FBI-agente Claire (Lily Rabe). Drie maanden geleden verloor, de in kinderen gespecialiseerde, Claire haar echtgenoot op onverklaarbare wijze. Met de opmerking dat je wel altijd een dagje terug in de gaten moet houden, omdat er wel eens wat afleveringen gemist worden, die een dag later opeens er opeens wel staan (maar je niet opvallen omdat je alleen naar de 'gele' afleveringen kijkt.
