Stefan Wilson gaat volgend jaar full-time in de IndyCar Series rijden voor Fan Force United
quote:Fan Force United has signed Stefan Wilson ahead of a planned full-time move into IndyCar in 2015.
The team, which currently races in Indy Lights, confirmed on Friday that it has a letter of intent from a sponsor, Jilcat Industries, for its 2015 programme, and team co-owner Chris Williams said that he believes Wilson will be the perfect fit for the team's first full-time IndyCar campaign.
"We are extremely excited to have Stefan as the driver to build our team around," he said.
"He embodies what FFU is about. Aside from being quick, he has that never-say-die attitude. We can't wait to get him onto the track."
Wilson's sole IndyCar appearance up to this point was with Dale Coyne Racing in Baltimore last year, and the 24-year-old Brit said that he is thrilled to finally get a full-time drive.
"I had the chance to race for Fan Force at the Indy Lights finale at Fontana in 2012," he said.
"They didn't know much about me and I didn't know much about them going into it, we secured their best result of the year together that weekend and became great friends in doing so.
"There's still a lot of work to do before it's set in stone, but knowing that I'm one step closer to achieving my dream of competing in the Indianapolis 500 is really exciting.
"I'm looking forward to having a full time ride again and being able to apply myself 100 per cent to this programme."
The team said that it is hoping to field Wilson in "one or two" IndyCar events later in the season in addition to its plans for 2015.
Fan Force United's sole IndyCar foray up to this point came in 2012, when it fielded Jean Alesi at the Indianapolis 500.
That endeavour ended with the Frenchman being black-flagged after just nine laps due to the underpowered Lotus engine.

De Schmidt-rijder verloor tijdens de oefensessie de controle over zijn auto, knalde tegen Charlie Kimball aan en werd vervolgens hard de hekken in gelanceerd. Na zijn crash werd hij direct naar het Universitair Medisch Centrum van Loma Linda gevlogen. Tijdens de vlucht was hij bij bewustzijn. Er gebeurt nogal wat op silly season gebied in de IndyCars de laatste tijd. Ik zal ze even per team langslopen.
Team Penske heeft afgelopen week Simon Pagenaud aangekondigd als vierde coureur. Eerder al waren Will Power, Helio Castroneves en Juan Pablo Montoya bevestigd.
Andretti Autosport heeft 3 bevestigde coureurs. Ryan Hunter-Reay heeft voor meerdere jaren bijgetekend en ook Marco Andretti en Carlos Munoz blijven komend jaar. De toekomst van James Hinchcliffe is wat minder zeker en hangt af van het rond krijgen van het sponsorpakket. Daniel Abt gaat volgende maand testen voor het team en zou genoeg sponsoring hebben en ook Justin Wilson staat hoog op het lijstje.
Chip Ganassi Racing heeft ook vier bevestigde coureurs voor volgend jaar, maar het is de vraag of dat zo blijft. Ryan Briscoe schijnt tegen te vallen en is niet in staat in de buurt van Scott Dixon en Tony Kanaan te blijven. Mogelijke kandidaat voor vervanging is Indy Lights coureur Sage Karam.
Schmidt Peterson Motorsport verloor Simon Pagenaud aan Penske, maar hoopt Mikhail Aleshin te behouden (mits economische sancties zijn Russische sponsor SMP er niet van weerhoudt om te betalen) en hem te pairen met een ervaren coureur. James Hinchcliffe staat hoog op de lijst, dus als Andretti niet snel in staat is om Hinch vast te leggen is dit waarschijnlijk het team waar hij terecht komt. Verder test Rocky Moran jr. deze week voor het team.
KVSH Racing heeft Sebastien Bourdais onder contract, maar het is nog maar de vraag of Sebastian Saveedra aanblijft. De relatie tussen Saveedra en het team waas afgelopen jaar niet al te best. Hinchcliffe staat bovenaan het lijstje om Saveedra te vervangen, maar moet dan nog wel de benodigde sponsoring binnen halen. Iets waar SPM geen last van heeft.
Carpenter Fisher Hartman Racing is het resultaat van de fusie tussen Ed Carpenter Racing en Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing. Van beide teams is een coureur al vastgelegd. Zowel Ed Carpenter als Joseph Newgarden rijden volgend jaar voor dit team. Hierbij rijdt Ed Carpenter wederom alleen de ovals en is Mike Conway de aangewezen persoon om de overige races op zich te nemen. Mocht dit niet het geval zijn dan is deze positie weggelegd voor JR Hildebrand alhoewel er ook sprake is van een full-time derde auto voor hem.

Davide Valsecchi gaat testen voor Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.

Een week of twee nog de discussie gestart dat hij mn ´´idool´´ in F1 was, wint hij nu fraai de race
Met een mooie dubbele inhaalactie als hoogtepunt van zn race.
Was verder ook erg vermakelijke race, al duurde hij best lang
Wist niet dat deze races zo lang duurden ook, maar was geen moment saai

JR Hildebrand zal de races op Indianapolis voor CFH Racing rijden

Carpenter's squad has since merged with Sarah Fisher Racing to create CFH and Hildebrand will race for the team at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and at the Indianapolis 500.
"It was really great working with Ed last year at the 500 and I did a little bit of testing in the offseason with Josef [Newgarden], we got along really well," said Hildebrand, who finished second at the Indianapolis 500 four years ago after crashing at the final turn while leading.
"I expect the relationship that the three of us have to be potent and for us to have great communication. That's such a huge piece, particularly at the 500, where there is so much practice, qualifying is so intense and we'll have the new aero kits.
"You need every last ounce of speed you can get out of the cars for both qualifying and race day and we can all work together to reach that goal."

Was wel hoge amusementswaarde vond ik. Wat me wel opvalt is dat het niveau eigenlijk wel laag is, duidelijk zichtbaar dat in de formule 1 echt geen slechte coureurs meer rijden. Vooral vorige race in Miami, veel rare onmogelijk inhaalacties met veel schade, wel leuk om te zien, maar niveau van veel coureurs is gewoon niet zo denderend...
