Ik zal dit weekend wel een lijst maken

Leuk lijstje PF! Vooral de nummer 1 (wat een sfeer!)maar ook de veelzijdigheid! En wat heeft men met Nightswimming? Vind ik het minste van dat album..en ik het al in 4 lijstjes zien staan ofzo??

Tijd voor een leuke kennismaking in dat geval.

Ja, maar toch, Nightswimming is toch wel een beetje een meesterwerk van de verstaanbare R.E.M. Uit de periode van de onverstaanbare R.E.M. is dan ook nog zat moois te noemen, zoals Maps & Legends, Driver 8, Wendell Gee, Cuyahogo, Green Grow The Rushes, Begin The Begin, So. Central Rain en Swan Swan H bijvoorbeeld.

Ik luisterde van Automatic al snel alleen nog maar Star me Kitten, Sweetness Follows en Find the River. De rest kon me eigenlijk niet zo boeien.

Dit is niet het REM topic natuurlijk, maar ben nog maar weer eens Nightswimming aan het luisteren en afgezien van aardig pianospel en een leuke viool is het maar een eentonig nummer met een ongelooflijk vervelend zeurende stem van Stipe..snap de populariteit nog niet

En tsja verder, ik ken ze nog niet genoeg om een mening hebben.

Meanwhile: Leuke lijstjes inauxt en Marty_mark...bij de laatste toch wel weer een interessante #1, dat nummer (of Sorrow) van dat album zie ik toch wel vaker ineens opduiken bij net iets anders PF fans dan gemiddeld Wel leuk om te zien.

Ik neem aan dat dit niet wordt gezien als de originele versie. Jammer dat punten voor een bepaald liedje op deze manier verdeeld worden. Hoewel ik het soms wel begrijp (Nothing else Matters: Studio vs S&M Live).

Misschien heeft de populariteit van het liedje ook te maken met de activiteit "Nightswimming". Wat mij betreft geeft dat nummer goed het gevoel van die activiteit weer. Heerlijk zonder zorgen zwemmen op een verlaten strand in een warm vakantieland

Maar in mijn lijst staat bijv. Beth Hart met Hiding under water ook hoog vanwege de akoestische versie en niet vanwege de studioversie, want die versie haalt het bij lange na niet:
