Markt Peshawar in één klap veranderd in 'hel'

PESHAWAR - Een drukbezochte markt in de noordwestelijke Pakistaanse stad Peshawar is woensdag in één klap veranderd in een slagveld van smeulend puin en doden. Een autobom ontplofte bij de Meena Bazaar, waardoor zeker 92 mensen zijn omgekomen.

De aanslag vond enkele uren na de aankomst van de Amerikaanse minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Hillary Clinton plaats.

Door de explosie ontstond een vuurzee. Mensen baanden zich schreeuwend een weg door de smalle straatjes om de rampplek te ontvluchten.

Velen vreesden een tweede bom. Anderen probeerden gewonden te helpen. Gebouwen, waaronder een moskee, en auto's zijn verwoest of zwaar beschadigd.

''Het leek wel een aardbeving. Alle spullen in mijn winkel vielen bovenop me. Er was zo veel rook. Toen ik werd bedolven onder de spullen raakte ik bewusteloos'', aldus de eigenaar van een kledingzaak vanuit zijn ziekenhuisbed in Peshawar.


Blauw-witte flits

Er zijn volgens de autoriteiten meer dan tweehonderd gewonden gevallen. Op en bij de Meena Bazaar bevinden zich veel dameskledingwinkeltjes en allerlei kraampjes.

''Ik zag een blauw-witte flits en ik werd naar de andere kant van de straat gesmeten. Ik ben verbaasd dat ik nog leef'', aldus de 15-jarige Shahid Khan, die bij een popcornkarretje stond toen de bom afging.


Extremisten

Reddingswerkers meldden dat er nog mensen onder verwoeste winkels liggen. Een gedeeltelijk omgevallen gebouw bemoeilijkt de reddingswerkzaamheden.

De aanslag is nog niet opgeëist maar is vermoedelijk het werk van moslimextremisten die banden met de Taliban en al-Qaeda onderhouden.

Vorige week raakten bij een aanslag met een bomauto tien mensen gewond. De bom ging toen af bij een restaurant in een groter complex, waar echter nog nauwelijks mensen binnen waren.

To the entire Muslim Ummah, and especially to the Muslim people of Pakistan:

The topic I would like to speak about today is the criminal bombings which took place in Peshawar a few days ago targeting Muslim marketplaces, its victims being innocents from women, children, the elderly and men, may Allah have mercy on them. We would like to make the following points concerning them:

1) We totally reject these bombings which occur in Muslim marketplaces and amongst residents. This is something that we as well as others from our brother Mujahidoon have clarified on various occasions. We have nothing to do with them. The reasons the Mujahidoon are fighting is to make Islam supreme, to establish Islamic law, and to aid and defend our oppressed Muslim people – not to fight them, and refuge is sought in Allah from this.

All Muslims must understand that it is impossible that the Mujahidoon carry out such vile acts, as it is they who have set out on the path of Jihad in the Cause of Allah in defense of Islam, land, honor and Muslim life which is spilt and desecrated by the Crusaders and apostates.

2) The Mujahidoon only target the army and the security forces of this apostate government, as well as the leading intelligence officials directly responsible for spilling the blood of the weak and oppressed in Swat, Waziristan, Bajaur, Mehmand, Khyber, Orakzai, and other regions. However, many media outlets, which in fact are only agents, play ignorant of these facts and rather only propagate the claims of the Americans in order spoil the image of the Mujahidoon.

3) The Mujahidoon take all measures to choose their targets carefully, and they are those situated far from places frequented by the masses, Examples of these are the General Headquarters of the Pakistani Army, military intelligence (ISI) centers, and training centers of anti-terrorism forces.

4) We believe that the likes of these bombings are carried out by the enemies of Allah – by the Crusaders and their aides from the government and intelligence. This is only one aspect of their debauch war. How can this not be the case when it is they who do not respect any ties, either of kinship or of covenant, with regard to Muslims. The pay no consideration to any form of sanctity, and Muslim blood is worth nothing to them.

Everyone today knows how Blackwater and other criminal organizations who freely operate in Pakistan support this corrupt regime of criminals and its security apparatus. They carry out these heinous acts, and then they use their mouthpieces in the media to accuse the Mujahidoon and spoil their image.

Some of the factors which clearly indicate their involvement in the bombings are as follows:

a) This was the policy they employed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and here we see today the debauch Americans implementing it in Pakistan. They themselves have stated that they will make use their experience (they gained there), as you have seen.

b) The timing of these bombings coincided with the visit of some American officials to Pakistan. This is so that they can emphasize in their press conferences that it is the terrorists who are responsible for these acts, and it is only these terrorists who they are targeting in their hiding places in the tribal regions, claiming that they are only supporting the Pakistani government and people to finish them off.

c) Weapons and explosives were accidentally found with some Blackwater officials and other Western diplomats in Pakistan, a fact which even the media reported. However, this case was quickly closed. The hidden truth is much more evil, which is that they have plans, may Allah disgrace them, to kill off anyone who supports or sympathizes with the Mujahidoon, whether they be the scholars, preachers, or reputable intellectuals, writers, reporters and others.

d) These bombings are carried out by explosive laden (VB) IED’s placed in marketplaces. These are well known methods employed by intelligence agencies all over the world, and there are so many examples of this in Iraq and other places.
My brother Muslims. Indeed the true culprits behind the criminal bombings are those who strike Muslim villages, homes and mosques in the tribal areas and Afghanistan with bombs which weigh tons.

In conclusion, we call the Muslims of Pakistan and everywhere else to understand the extent of the conspiracies against Islam. Indeed the enemy pays no consideration to any limits, whether set by religion or humanity, to achieve their goals.

War is an opportunity for criminals to carry out all the crimes they wish. Indeed this is a test and trial. Rely upon Allah and know well that victory only comes with patience. Find the people of Truth and help them.

We specifically call out to reputable reporters, intellectuals and media figures to support the truth and be just. We call them to try their utmost to expose these conspiracies, or else they will be the next targets of Blackwater, the Crusaders and the apostates if the Mujahidoon are defeated, may Allah not will this happen. Their first line of defense, as well as that of the Ummah’s, are their brother Mujahidoon.

And Allah is the Guardian of the Believers.

All praise is due to Allah, and there is no aggression except against the oppressors.
