Trump explodeert. Dat pikt hij nooit.quote:But the F.B.I. person really reports directly to the president of the United States, which is interesting. You know, which is interesting. quote:Late Thursday, The Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump is seeking to understand his pardon power, a development that seems directly linked to the ongoing special counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the foreign power.
The Post raises the possibility of Trump pardoning top advisers, family members and even himself. Can he do that? To answer that question, I reached out to Brian C. Kalt. Kalt is a professor of law at Michigan State University and the author of a 2012 book entitled "Constitutional Cliffhangers: A Legal Guide for Presidents and Their Enemies." 1. Saudi princes (and other old friends in the Middle East)quote:When Donald Trump raised the roof at his raucous rallies with pledges to put “America First,” he hit a political nerve. The long-mothballed phrase, revived from another era of American history, became shorthand for rethinking our whole relationship to the world. Seven decades after the end of World War II, why does the United States still guarantee the security of Germany and Japan? Does boosting Mexican manufacturing through the North American Free Trade Agreement really help American workers? Why are 23 of the 28 NATO members allowed to ignore NATO rules on how much they must spend on defense? Why must the U.S. do more so that others can do less?
Six months into his presidency, we’ve seen enough of the program to assess just how well he’s fulfilling this promise. Is America First paying off for America?
Not exactly. Trump has definitely shaken up the old certainties of global relations. But for whose good? It’s not clear how bombing Syria’s Bashar Assad advances U.S. interests as Trump has defined them. There are still U.S. troops in Afghanistan for some reason. His back-and-forth on U.S. support for NATO has motivated members to make new promises, but he has also reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to defend Montenegro against foreign aggression—surely not a priority of heartland voters. If you think the Paris accord on climate was a bad deal for the U.S., you’re happy that he pulled the U.S. out. If you think he did this mainly to throw his base a bone as other campaign promises go unrealized, you might be a bit more cynical. If you think it serves U.S. interests to signal European allies that they better make defense plans that don’t include Washington, then you’re probably pleased. If you think shaking up the alliance actually makes the U.S. less secure, then you’re not.
So who, if not America, benefits most from the Trump foreign policy? We surveyed the past six months, cutting through the rhetoric to take a clear look at who’s up, who’s down, and who the real policy winners are under America First. The methodology is pretty simple. Multiply 1) the likelihood they'll be helped by Trump’s policies, 2) the magnitude of that help, and 3) how soon that help will arrive.

quote:n its investigation, the New York State Department of Financial Services found that between 2011 and 2015, a group of Deutsche Bank executives based mainly in Moscow and London helped wealthy Russians send money overseas by arranging stock trades that had no economic purpose other than disguising what the client was doing.
What was known as the Russian mirror trading scheme “occurred while the bank was on clear notice of serious and widespread compliance issues dating back a decade,” said Maria T. Vullo, the superintendent for financial services at the department. “The offsetting trades here lacked economic purpose and could have been used to facilitate money laundering or enable other illicit conduct.”
The Russian scheme, while much smaller in scale and in terms of economic harm to the bank, nevertheless highlights what has been a pervasive culture at Deutsche of skirting regulations to pad profits and personal bonuses, the Department of Financial Services said.
In its order, the department said the scheme started in the years after the financial crisis when trading revenue in Deutsche’s Moscow office dropped by half.
Despite misgivings, traders proceeded with the transactions to secure commissions in slow markets, the order said. In one case, investigators found that a supervisor in the Moscow office had been paid $3.8 million for “consulting agreements” by the companies behind the trades.

The New York regulator said it appears that a close relative of a Deutsche Bank supervisor in Moscow received bribes worth a quarter million dollars so that the supervisor would clear the trades.

Zo te zien hebben ze gewoon 2 boetes hiervoor gehad.quote:Mirror trades allowed Deutsche Bank counterparties in Russia to buy local blue-chip shares for rubles, while the same stocks would be sold in London for dollars, reviews conducted by the German lender and the local central bank determined.
Although such trades are legal in some cases, U.S. Justice Department prosecutors were examining whether Deutsche Bank broke anti-money-laundering protocols by not properly vetting them, people familiar with the matter have said. An internal audit by Deutsche Bank found a “systemic” failure in internal controls meant to prevent money laundering and financial crime.

Zou Conway zichzelf elke avond onder de douche in slaap huilen, na uit de reet van Donald te kruipen?quote:White House counselor Kellyanne Conway zeroed in Friday on special counsel Robert Mueller, telling “Fox & Friends” that she thinks it’s important for the American people to know about his team’s potential conflicts of interest in investigating President Donald Trump and his associates.
“Fox & Friends” host Ainsley Earhardt said some members of Mueller’s team, which is investigating whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russians during the 2016 election, have donated thousands of dollars to Democrats in the past.
“This is just a witch hunt,” Conway said in response. “It’s all a hoax, and now they’re going in all types of different directions, but I think that the information you just shared is relevant information for America to have. People should know what folks’ past and their motivations and their political motivations are. These weren’t minor donations.”
A bombshell Washington Post report published Thursday night, and quickly echoed by a New York Times report, said Trump and his legal team are searching for ways to discredit Mueller and are laying the groundwork to fire him.
Echt hoor.quote:MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Russian lawyer who met Donald Trump Jr. after his father won the Republican nomination for the 2016 U.S. presidential election counted Russia's FSB security service among her clients for years, Russian court documents seen by Reuters show.
The documents show that the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, successfully represented the FSB's interests in a legal wrangle over ownership of an upscale property in northwest Moscow between 2005 and 2013.
The FSB, successor to the Soviet-era KGB service, was headed by Vladimir Putin before he became Russian president.
There is no suggestion that Veselnitskaya is an employee of the Russian government or intelligence services, and she has denied having anything to do with the Kremlin.
But the fact she represented the FSB in a court case may raise questions among some U.S. politicians.
