Ali Larijani
TEHRAN, April 17--Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani here Sunday called on five permanent UN members plus Germany (5+1) to avoid a repeat of mistakes and guarantee an atmosphere for constructive talks.
Larijani was speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the Third International Conference on Qods and Support for Palestinian Rights which wrapped up its work in Tehran on Sunday, IRNA reported.
“I think the hasty London statement was one of the mistakes made regarding Iran’s nuclear case. The nuclear path could have been successfully pursued, but the statement changed it. We are ready to reach sound solutions to the case through constructive negotiation,“ he said.
Asked whether a solution to Iran’s nuclear case could possibly emerge from the next session of the Security Council, he said, “If the states that are highly influential in resolving the nuclear standoff take a wise stance, finding a solution will not be too difficult. Several solutions have already been offered.“
Commenting on Sunday’s remarks by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice calling for enforcement of the UN Charter’s Chapter 7 in the next session of the Security Council, the SNSC secretary said the US officials had made similar remarks in the past and their threats will not change Iran’s stance.
In a meeting with a member of Communist Party of China’s Political Bureau, Wang Lequan, First Vice President Parviz Davoudi said on Monday that Iranian measures to access nuclear energy are based on international regulations, noting that western states should accept such a right.
Davoudi stressed that peaceful nuclear energy is the demand of all Iranians and the Iranian government took steps to materialize these demands.
Highlighting the importance of boosting ties between Iran and China, Davoudi said, “Bilateral relations should not be limited to the economic domain, but must be further expanded in political and cultural fields.“
Wang, for his part, said Iran’s nuclear case should be settled through diplomatic channels, noting that China understands Iran’s stance on accessing nuclear energy.
Pointing to the growing trend of bilateral ties in all fields, Wang said Tehran and Beijing have fulfilled their commitments.

maar begin dan niet over Israel want die hebben hier verder vrij weinig mee te maken
quote:TEL AVIV, Israel - After Hamas defended a deadly suicide bombing Monday,
Israel's U.N. ambassador warned that recent statements by the Palestinian government,
Iran and Syria "are clear declarations of war, and I urge each and every one of you to listen carefully and take them at face value."
Ambassador Dan Gillerman cautioned that a new "axis of terror" — Iran, Syria and the Hamas-run Palestinian government — was sowing the seeds of the first world war of the 21st century.
"A dark cloud is looming above our region, and it is metastasizing as a result of the statements and actions by leaders of Iran, Syria, and the newly elected government of the
Palestinian Authority," he said.
A Palestinian suicide bomber struck a packed fast-food restaurant during Passover, killing nine people and wounding dozens in the deadliest bombing in more than a year. In a sharp departure from the previous Palestinian government's condemnations of bombings, the Hamas-led administration defended the attack as a legitimate response to Israeli "aggression."

Cognitieve dissonantie zorgt voor stress en zelfverloochening, zegt deze ervaringsdeskundige, you better fix it if you got it, and you better fix it at once.quote:Op dinsdag 18 april 2006 11:34 schreef Godslasteraar het volgende:

Cognitive dissonance
the theory of cognitive dissonance holds that contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compels the mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to minimize the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions.

I would say -- and this may shock some -- I think the decision has been made and military operations are under way," Col. Gardiner told CNN International anchor Jim Clancy.
Gardiner, who designed a war game in November of 2004 for Atlantic Magazine ("Will Iran be next?") which simulated "preparations for a U.S. assault on Iran," also claimed that Aliasghar Soltaniyeh, the Iranian ambassador to the United Nation's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), told him a few weeks ago that units who had attacked the Revolutionary Guard had been captured and confessed to working with Americans.
"The secretary point is, the Iranians have been saying American military troops are in there, have been saying it for almost a year," Gardiner said. "I was in Berlin two weeks ago, sat next to the ambassador, the Iranian ambassador to the IAEA. And I said, 'Hey, I hear you're accusing Americans of being in there operating with some of the units that have shot up revolution guard units.'"
"He said, quite frankly, 'Yes, we know they are. We've captured some of the units, and they've confessed to working with the Americans,'" said the retired Air Force colonel.

Oil and gas are once again the heart of the matter. A recent energy conference in Tehran (In the heart of Pipelineistan, March 17) made it clear that Iran is a crucial node of a proposed Asian energy-security grid, which includes China, Russia and India. This grid would bypass Western - especially US - control of energy supplies and fuel in a real 21st-century industrial revolution all across Asia. It's no wonder that many analysts view the war on Iran in essence as a war of the United States against Asia.

Up to 30% of the world's oil production passes through the strait. Were Iran to block it, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait would not be able to export their oil. The Pentagon may eventually get its Long War - but not exactly on its terms.
