Dit klinkt ook wel als een interessant festival, zo'n 60 km van London vandaan.
http://www.atpfestival.com/Devendra Banhart, Sleater-Kinney Curate ATP Fest, Start Planning Next Year's NADPH FestI think it's really amazing that someone is finally giving the process of cellular respiration the respect it deserves. I mean, without cellular respiration, plants couldn't photosynthesize, and people wouldn't be able to process glucose into energy. Everything would die! But cellular respiration never gets any love. When's the last time you saw an "I LOVE Glycolysis" one-inch pin, or a girl with a Krebs Cycle diagram tattooed on her lower back? Well, Devendra Banhart, Sleater-Kinney and other musicians are on a mission to change all that. They're curating this May's ATP fest, two weekends of music celebrating the important contributions that ATP (adenosine triphosphate) makes to the cellular respiration process! Confused? Take a look at this diagram. You wouldn't want to be the only person at ATP fest who doesn't get how the phosphorus cycle works, would you?
Mudhoney, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Devendra Banhart will each curate a day of music on the first weekend (May 12th – May 14th ), and Dinosaur Jr., Sleater-Kinney, and the Shins will each curate a day on the second weekend (May 19th – May 21st). Some of the picks are pretty predictable (Devendra Banhart booked Vetiver and Vashti Bunyan?! Holy shit!), while some are more puzzling (I never knew Sleater-Kinney liked Lightning Bolt, but that's cool), and the result is a generally strong and eclectic indie rock roster. The shows will be held at Camber Sands Holiday Centre in East Sussex, UK, which is about 60 miles away from London. Here's who's playing so far:

Rumor has it that the Scientists (one of Mudhoney's picks, see above) are especially excited to fête their favorite nucleotide. If you want to join in the celebration, tickets are available at
www.atpfestival.com or
www.wegottickets.com. ?125 will get you admission to all of one weekend's shows, plus three nights' accommodation in a "chalet," and access to onsite mini-golfing and go-karts (amazing). Of course, you also have to pay to get to England (unless you're already there, you lucky son of a gun).
My friend Geoff thought the first weekend was in New York and the second weekend was in Boston, due to the huge map of the United States with little flags sticking up out of New York and Boston that graces the main page of the ATP fest site. Granted, Geoff was probably really high when he was deceived by this image, but I must admit, it is sort of confusing. In Geoff's words, "why the fuck would they have a huge fucking map of the US if the concert's in the fucking UK?" So, to make things completely clear: ATP fest is definitely in ENGLAND . And you can get tickets from the two sites I mentioned, or I guess you could buy a pair off my friend Geoff, who's pretty pissed off that he can't afford the airfare.
