RELEVANT INFORMATION
This is Shellac's Third LP. Recording took place occasionally throughout 1998 and 1999 at Steve's
ELECTRICAL AUDIO studios in Chicago. The record was mastered by Steve Rooke and John Loder at Abbey Road in London.
PACKAGING
Those of you who are familiar with Shellac will appreciate that beautiful packaging has always been important to the band. 1000 Hurts comes enclosed in a cardboard reel-to-reel audio tape box.
QUALITY CONTROL
In keeping with the standards set by previous Shellac releases, the manufacture of this record is being monitored to ensure the highest possible reproduction quality. The LP was mastered entirely in the analog domain, using the complete DMM (direct metal mastering) process. The LPS are being pressed by EMI in London (the same facility that pressed both At Action Park and Terraform). The LPs are 180 gram audiophile quality pressings on pure virgin vinyl.
PRICING
As with the last record, the CD and LP will wholesale for the same price, and we recommend that they be sold at the same price in stores. This is still, strictly speaking, an unsound price (as compact discs are much cheaper than vinyl to manufacture), but it is not as ridiculous as charging more for the CD version.
PROMOTION
Other than the informational sheet you hold in your hand, this record will have no formal promotion. There will be no advertisements, no press or radio promotion, no promotional or review copies, no promotional gimmick items and otherwise no free lunch. Photos are available.
BAND INFORMATION
While there is no specific coordination between Shellac's record releases and touring schedules, you can expect the band to tour at its usual sporadic and relaxed pace.
MUSICAL INFORMATION
There are no 12-minute songs on this one. This record is more mean-spirited. Todd sings.
