Despite having the lowest FIS points on both the Olympic and International Federation lists, I didn't qualify for Milano-Cortina 2026 based on Brazil's internal criteria...
I really wanted to end my career at the 2026 Olympics. That would have been 9 Olympic appearances, another historic chapter, and above all, a way to continue inspiring more experienced women to keep believing.
This cycle was extremely challenging. I often questioned myself about whether I should continue. A mix of "I can still do it, I'm still strong" with the fear of judgment and what goes on behind the scenes (women can relate?).
But I decided to follow this ideal: I can and I want to. I left my comfort zone and faced it.
I was lucky to have incredible people by my side: Yan Cintra @yancintraa, Dr. Tamires @dra.tamivieira, Henrique Furtado @henriqueperesfurtado and Giulia Melli @giuliamellinutri. More than a multidisciplinary team, they were people with huge hearts, supporting me as an athlete and as a human being, through thick and thin. What a privilege to experience this. My deepest gratitude, from the bottom of my heart 🙏
This week I competed in Norway and had an incredible race, precisely in the country where cross-country skiing is the number 1 sport. I was interviewed live before the start and explained that I was still in the Olympic race.
After the race, based on my performance that day, they were sure I had qualified… but I hadn't.
Our family made a huge sacrifice. A special thank you to my mother, Angela, who took care of my family while I was traveling 💙
Ian and Jade, my children, I hope that, even returning empty-handed, you will keep this example: never give up and fight until the end 🙏
I remain deeply passionate about the sport and I end this cycle fulfilled and complete, certain that I left everything I could on the track, fought hard, and contributed to national sport.
We closed this cycle with:
• best FIS points result in the Olympic race
• lowest average in the FIS and Olympic lists
• only 10 points from Criterion A (150 FIS points)
• manager of the opening of Brazil's basic Olympic quota
And all this at 50 years old.
Life goes on. I am immensely grateful to everyone who cheered for me. A very special thank you to my other half, Guido Visser, who taught me to ski and was by my side throughout this journey. Without you, none of this would have shone. How many adventures we lived and what a beautiful story we built together — and there are many more to come 💙
Now it's time to go home, allow a few days to close this cycle, one step at a time.
