Hij zat ook heel noncha te acteren terwijl dat dus totaal niet zo is. Maar ik kan dit nog wel hebben.

I want to talk about the Menzies incident. Today we saw Cameron Menzies visibly fall apart after his loss to Charlie Manby. Menzies was trailing 2–1, missed chances to get back into the match, and then had to throw for the finish while the crowd loudly booed him. After a miss and another burst of cheering for Manby, he threw a frustrated no-look dart that didn’t count. You could see the moment he broke. Moments later Manby hits double 1 to win, and Cameron completely collapses. He hits the table out of pure helplessness, clearly trying to hold himself together on a stage watched by millions.

First of all, full credit to Charlie Manby, who looked strong in his World Championship debut. And yes, Cameron’s behavior isn’t something you want on TV. But what bothers me is the amount of hate he’s getting right now. What we saw wasn’t a man “disrespecting the sport,” but someone overwhelmed by shame, frustration and pain. And that’s exactly the kind of vulnerability we tend to look away from. We say he shouldn’t be on a stage, that he needs help, but at the same time we’re showing why so many people hide their emotions in the first place. This is behavior we see in a lot of men every day, but it’s easier to turn away from it than to acknowledge it.

Cameron didn’t just lose a match. He may have lost income and possibly his tour card, and he knows his emotions played a part in that. He’s a talented player who’s out of the Worlds early once again, this time under heavy booing and huge cheers for his opponent. Those are pressures most people would crumble under. What Cameron did is something any man can do when the setbacks pile up so high that acting out feels like the only release.

My point is simple. Manby fully deserved the win, but Menzies also deserves compassion. What he showed wasn’t weakness. It was a deeply human moment, the same kind of struggle many people deal with every day without anyone noticing. Don’t sweep these emotions under the rug. Create space where your child, partner or friend can be vulnerable too.

Keep talking about shame. No one should have to carry it alone.

Nu lees ik dat mensen het opnemen voor Menzies omdat zijn laatste pijl onterecht afgekeurd zou zijn.

Maar hij gooit hem duidelijk achteloos weg, vraag me dan toch af wie deze mensen zijn.
