I started out as a little girl of almost 7 years old who wanted to be big like her big brother, strong like her big brother and fast like her big brother. Never knowing what an amazingly beautiful journey she would make through many ups and perhaps many more lows. How many wonderful people she would meet and also many bad people. How many love from fans and supporters she would receive and also how many would try to oppose her.

I learned so much from this trip. It has made me the person I am today. One cannot exist without the other. Without the lows you don’t know how great the highs feel.

I look back with gratitude. Gratitude that I was able to experience this. Gratitude for my growth. Gratitude to all people; coaches, sponsors, physios, friends, family and fans who have helped me at every stage of this journey. In gratitude to myself that I persevered, that I never gave up, that I had fun and that my body has taken me to higher heights.

It’s time for a new journey. A new start. It scares me to death but I believe in me. Because look what I’ve done. It’s not goodbye but see you later. Because I’m staying, but I’m doing something slightly different than I did.

Met die tijd werd de Helderse atleet 21e in Valencia. Gianluca Assorgia, eveneens uit Den Helder, kwam daar in Spanje in een tijd van 28.38 over de meet. Daarmee scherpte ook hij zijn PR ruim aan.

After the last olympic cycle with years full of amazing competitions indoor and outdoors, we’ve decided to do it a bit different this year. I’m training hard and preparing myself for another successful year on the track, but I also felt that I needed a bit more time away from competing. Therefore I have decided to not race individually this indoor season.

It gives me the opportunity to have some more time processing everything that has happened and prioritize more things outside of the sports that are important to me.

However, I cannot and do not want to miss a chance to compete at a home championship!!! So I will be racing in Apeldoorn at the European Indoor Championships in the relays and lucky enough it’s the first time there’s also a mixed relay!

However, these efforts do not replace the substantial earnings that remain inaccessible due to ongoing disputes.The controversy surrounding Kiptum’s frozen millions raises questions about how the estates of deceased athletes are managed.

Many families of sports stars face similar struggles when trying to claim what is rightfully theirs. Agencies and management firms often control the financial affairs of athletes, but when tragedy strikes, their priorities sometimes shift, leaving families in distress.

His legacy should not be overshadowed by financial wrangles, and his loved ones should not have to beg for what he rightfully earned.
