Norway has allocated NOK 570 million (approximately $53.23 million) to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), led by the United Kingdom.

The Norwegian government announced this on its website.

It is reported that Ukraine will receive more drones and more air defense systems to protect the Ukrainian population and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.

“Ukraine has an urgent need for more military equipment to protect itself from Russian aggression. Together with other countries, Norway will do its best to contribute,” stated Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

The 44-year-old German woman and her 43-year-old husband were accused of killing the 27-year-old Ukrainian refugee in March, as well as her 51-year-old mother.

The couple's motive for the double murder was a "long-unfulfilled wish to have a daughter," Mannheim prosecutors said in a statement.

The pair "had been planning to kidnap a newborn female infant and pass her off as their own child," the prosecutors said.

To that end, the 44-year-old woman is said to have joined a group chat on the Telegram messaging app intended to organize support for Ukrainians fleeing Russia's invasion.

Through the group, the couple came in contact with the young Ukrainian woman, who was seeking help with translation ahead of the birth of her child earlier this year.

Ukraine’s President then elaborated on why Ukraine’s Kursk operation was kept a secret.

“Yes, we did not inform anyone. And it’s not the question of lack of trust,” Zelenskyy said, adding that Kyiv’s counteroffensive last summer failed in many ways because of how much it was advertised and talked about, giving Russians time to prepare.

Ukraine officially announced carrying out an operation in the Kursk region on August 12. Since the beginning of the operation in Russia’s Kursk region, Ukraine has captured at least 594 Russian soldiers and now controls over 100 settlements, covering an area of 1,294 square kilometers, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated on August 27.

Zou mij niks verbazen als wij binnenkort horen dat de pijpleiding naar China er gewoon gaat komen door Mongools grondgebied. En dat uiteindelijk Putin/Xi ook wel overstag gaan en een deal weten te sluiten. Als dit het geval is hoop ik dat Putin een poot wordt uitgedraaid.

Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) priest Pyotr Ustinov was banned from serving for refusing to read a prayer about the war and to use the Russian language in worship.

"Today, the bishop, for the sake of expediency, banned me from serving. I was charged with three "crimes." One is the main one, the other two are just for the heck of it. The first is not reading the prayer for the victory of Holy Russia. Yes, I really did not read this prayer. Why? Because I do not understand who "Holy Russia" is," Ustinov wrote on his page on the VK social network.

He specified that he refused to read the prayer because the church cannot call on "some of its children to destroy other children." Ustinov was also accused of using the Russian language in the service. According to him, he read many religious texts to parishioners in Russian, although the Russian Orthodox Church uses Church Slavonic for services.

"My third 'crime' is using disposable spoons for the sacrament of Communion. During the COVID pandemic, for safety reasons, I began using disposable spoons for Communion. The pandemic has passed, but COVID has not gone away, and people continue to die from it," Ustinov explained.

The priest served in the Church of the Holy Martyr Peter Krutitsky in Chelyabinsk.

Urgent work to accelerate the delivery of the UK’s military support for Ukraine will be discussed between the Defence Secretary and his counterpart, Rustem Umerov, during a visit to London today.

The visit comes during a milestone moment in international support for Ukraine, with eight countries from across the world having now joined the UK to provide more than £1 billion to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), in a significant show of unity from Ukraine’s allies.

It comes after the Prime Minister announced the IFU’s largest ever support package at the NATO Summit in July, with a £300m contract to supply 152mm artillery shells to supply Ukraine’s Soviet-era guns. He also confirmed £3bn of UK aid for Ukraine per year for as long as it takes.

The Defence Secretary confirmed today the £300m contract has now been signed and is expected to deliver thousands of shells before the end of the year – providing a significant boost for Ukraine’s stockpiles and aligning with the Government’s acceleration of military support deliveries.

Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Norway all confirmed their intent this summer to invest additional money in the Fund to purchase more drones to help on the frontline, as well as vital air defence capabilities to help shield Ukraine’s people and key infrastructure from relentless Russian bombardment.

In particular, the Russian secret service set them a task: to blow up one of the tracks in Kyiv region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine use it to transport equipment and personnel to the frontline regions. However, the SBU managed to prevent the sabotage, the statement said.

According to the investigation, in case of successful completion of hostile tasks, the former MP planned to expand his network and carry out sabotage virtually throughout Ukraine.

De krijgsmacht moet in staat zijn vijandelijke doelen op grote afstand uit te schakelen. Denk aan gevechtsvoertuigen, bunkers, gevechtsopstellingen en helikopters. Daarom schaft Defensie antitankwapens aan die op lange afstand doel kunnen treffen. Ze vervangen naar verwachting vanaf 2026 de systemen voor de middellange afstand. Staatssecretaris Gijs Tuinman meldt dit vandaag aan de Tweede Kamer.

De vervanging is nodig vanwege de snel verslechterende veiligheidssituatie in Europa. Het draagt verder bij aan de veiligheid van de militairen.

De huidige antitankwapens hebben na 25 jaar het einde bereikt van zowel hun technische als operationele levensduur. Hierdoor kent het systeem in toenemende mate technische uitval. Daarnaast is het moeilijk ze in stand te houden en is het niet mogelijk ze verder te ontwikkelen. Bovendien zijn de optische middelen voor doeldetectie en raketgeleiding verouderd.

Defensie kiest nu voor moderne lanceersystemen. Die maken het mogelijk vijandelijke gevechtsvoertuigen tot een afstand van 5.000 meter uit te schakelen. Daarnaast zijn ze in staat om doelen zonder een directe zichtlijn via een coördinaat onder vuur te nemen. De raket wordt daarbij tijdens de vlucht bijgestuurd. Deze gemoderniseerde antitankwapens worden alleen geleverd door de Israëlische leverancier Rafael.

Met de nieuwe lanceerinstallatie zijn ook raketten van andere Europese landen te verschieten. Duitsland bijvoorbeeld vervangt sinds 2020 ook de antitankcapaciteit voor de middellange afstand. De oosterbuur heeft dezelfde lanceerinstallaties en antitankraketten aangeschaft. Bovendien maken onder meer België, Denemarken, Estland, Finland, Hongarije, Italië, Litouwen, Polen, Roemenië, Spanje, Tsjechië en Zwitserland hier gebruik van. Daarnaast krijgt NAVO-bondgenoot Canada deze antitankwapens. Deze zogeheten standaardisatie vormt een belangrijke overweging bij de aanschaf van militair materieel.

Defensie wil alle oude lanceerinstallaties in 4 jaar vervangen. De organisatie streeft er naar het contract voor levering van nieuwe antitankwapens in oktober dit jaar te tekenen. De laatste systemen stromen naar verwachting in de eerste helft van 2028

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba submitted his letter of resignation, speaker of Ukraine's parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk reported on Sept. 4.

Stefanchuk said that Kuleba's potential resignation will be "considered at one of the upcoming plenary meetings" but did not provide a date.

"It is a big reshuffle. It was expected rather long ago," lawmaker Oleksandr Merezhko told the Kyiv Independent.

"Ahead of us difficult times, difficult autumn and winter. Perhaps this reshuffle is somehow related to the new period of challenges for Ukraine."

Serving as foreign minister since 2020, Kuleba has been at the forefront of Ukraine's efforts to engage its international allies and secure new partnerships since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Following earlier rumors of his dismissal in August 2023, Kuleba said on national television that he was not concerned about the possibility.

"I work, no job is permanent, and I’m totally calm about everything," he said at the time.

"I said at the very beginning that I would leave under two circumstances: the first is if the president asks me to do it. The second is if I get into some fundamental contradiction with foreign policy and don’t consider it possible to work with it," Kuleba added.

Ukrainska Pravda reported on Sept. 3, citing unnamed sources, that Kuleba would be dismissed, and that his replacement was still being considered. The most likely candidate to take the position would be Deputy Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the sources said.

The news follows a number of other high-profile ministers submitting their letters of resignation the previous day — Strategic Industries Minister Alexander Kamyshin, Justice Minister Denys Maliuska, Ecology Minister Ruslan Strilets, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, and Deputy Prime Minister and Reintegration Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

Vitalii Koval, head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU), also submitted his resignation nine months after being in office.

The reasons for the resignations were not specified. The news came after months of reports about the possible replacement of several Ukrainian ministers.

David Arakhamia, the head of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Servant of the People's party in parliament, said on Sept. 3 that the reshuffle would affect more than half of the government's staff.

"Tomorrow is the day of dismissals, and the day after that is the day of appointments," he added.

Zelensky said in March that Ukrainians can expect more government reshuffles in the future, following a shake-up of his inner circle.

Infrastructure Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksandr Kubrakov and Agriculture Minister Mykola Solskyi were then dismissed in May.
