Wat een bullshit reden weer. Het hele westen is indirect al betrokken bij de oorlog. Of in elk geval bij het verdedigen van Oekraïne. Het leveren van Taurus raketten zal echt geen escalatie betekenen. Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that his country requires Taurus cruise missiles to defend itself against Russia and that concerns about escalation of the war are unfounded.
Earlier in the Bundestag, there were not enough votes to pass an opposition-introduced resolution calling for the supply of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.
At the same time, German MPs backed the governing parties' proposal to aid Ukraine, which included a call to provide Kyiv with long-range systems. The Taurus cruise missiles are not specifically mentioned in the proposal.

Details: According to the German newspaper, an informal group of officers, diplomats and civil servants from the chancellery, finance and economic departments meet in Berlin every two weeks.
They brainstorm which countries to approach seeking aid for Ukraine, which might still have stockpiles of munitions, and how to convince them.
According to government sources, almost any proposal is fair game in these negotiations, regardless of how implausible it may seem at first glance.
India, for example, still has relatively large stockpiles of artillery shells totalling several hundred thousand rounds, according to insiders. But the Indian government, which still maintains cordial relations with Moscow, will not admit to wanting to sell any, if it is indeed willing.
"As a result, covert negotiations are underway to see if the ammunition can be obtained through intermediaries," the article says.
Similar deals, Berlin says, are possible with Arab countries, some of which have large stockpiles. The experts say that there are also states in the Balkans and Africa that still have stockpiles - or may even produce new ammunition.
Background:
In a conversation with Dimytro Kuleba, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell promised to supply Ukraine with almost 170,000 shells by the end of March.
In March 2023, the EU reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with one million rounds of ammunition in a year's time, but did not reach this goal. As of now, the EU has provided 355,000 rounds and plans to provide 1,155,000 by the end of the year.
Earlier this week, the EU's top diplomat sent a letter to the foreign ministers and defence ministers of member states calling for everything possible to be done to provide Ukraine with the ammunition.

The sanctions include an asset freeze and a ban on the provision of funds, and individuals are additionally subject to a travel ban. The list currently includes 233 individuals, including Alexander Lukashenko, and 37 legal entities.
In addition, Belarus remains subject to targeted economic sanctions, including restrictions in the financial sector, trade, dual-use goods, technology and telecommunications, energy, transportation, and others.
• On February 12, the Lithuanian Seimas approved a proposal to extend national sanctions against Russian and Belarusian citizens for another year and to tighten checks on the entry of Belarusians into the country.
• On February 22, the Latvian Saeima passed a decision to ban the import of agricultural products and animal feed from Russia and Belarus.
• On February 22, the Czech government agreed to the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make the ban on issuing visas and residence permits to Russians and Belarusians indefinite.

En de meest strategische haven, ligt in de zwarte zee. Andere havens, murmansk, tegenover finland, vriest elke winter dicht, en vladivostok, zeer dichtbij china zelf, dus daar hebben ze helemaal niks aan.

Overigens zijn westerse sancties natuurlijk ook iets waar china heel erg op let. Ff een miljardenlening gaat niet lekker vallen in het westen.

Precies zoals ik al zei paar weken terug. De Republikeinen gaan echt niet de Democraten helpen met een overwinning mbt het leveren van wapens. Dat zou de doodsteek zijn voor de campagne van Trump.quote:
