Playstation 4
De PlayStation 4 (PS4) is een spelcomputer van Sony Interactive Entertainment die in Europa sinds 29 november 2013 verkrijgbaar is. De opvolger van de PlayStation 3 is op 20 februari 2013 aangekondigd in New York tijdens een persconferentie, die volledig in het teken stond van de nieuwe console. De PlayStation 4 maakt deel uit van de achtste generatie in de geschiedenis van de spelcomputer.

Playstation 5
De PS5 is vanaf 19 november 2020 beschikbaar in Europa.
De spelcomputer zal beschikken over een solid state drive voor opslag en hij moet Ultra HD-blu-ray-discs met minimaal 100 GB data aankunnen. Daarnaast zal de spelcomputer over ray tracing beschikken, waardoor lichteffecten nog mooier worden. Deze techniek wordt bewerkstelligd door de GPU en niet softwarematig.
Ook de controller zal een update krijgen, deze zal beschikken over "haptic feedback", de opvolger van de Rumble in de huidige controllers. Ook komen er "adaptive triggers" (R2 en L2), waarbij de druk van die knoppen aangepast kan worden en het meer of minder kracht kan vergen om deze knoppen in te drukken.

Dat het dan rond dezelfde periode is, tja... dat is alleen een probleem als het soortgelijke games zijn denk ik.
In februari komt ook de nieuwe Saints Row. Die kan die GTA Extra Enhanced versie wel eens in de weg gaan zitten.

Wonderbaarlijk genoeg gisteren een paar uur mijn PS5 aangehad; Daeth Stranding (die nieuwe versie). Game ziet er echt prachtig uit (deed het volgens mij ook al op PS4 natuurlijk), de sfeer is echt fan-tas-tisch. Het pakketjes bezorgen idee zit ik nog niet echt (eerste fase viel dat tenminste wel mee) maar ik zie mijzelf al urenlang over die prachtige omgevingen wandelen eigenlijk. Heb er dus wel zin in!
