Some of the lawmakers laughed at McCarthy’s comment. Then McCarthy quickly added: “Swear to God.”

Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: “No leaks. . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

The remarks remained secret for nearly a year.

Waarom verspreid je hier wat dit account zegt? Of waarom volg je ze?

Dat er tussen nu en 2 dagen weer groot nieuws is, kan iedereen je vertellen. Ze worden nooit specifiek met wat ze tweeten, kortom, waarschijnlijk een onzin account imho.

Dit is dus het meest storende. Zelfs trumphaterds als ik zien wel dat het een grapje was of zou kunnen zijn. Maar dat eeuwige gelieg is zo vermoeiend.
De eerste insteek moet niet zijn 'fake news!' maar 'oh heeft ie dat gezegd? In welke context?'.
Daarom vertrouw ik ook de NYtimes en WaPo met hun 'anonieme' bronnen veel meer dan het WH en/of Fox/Breitbart. Soms hebben de eerder genoemden het verkeerd, maar in 9 van de 10 gevallen niet. Bij de anderen en al helemaal het WH is het andersom.

Dat hele Ryan / McCarthy verhaal klinkt ook meer als wat ouwehoeren onderling. Het nadeel van dat soort gesprekkenis dat heel het internet wilde interpretaties gaat hangen zonder enige context. Feitelijk niet anders dan bij alle gelekte e-mails uit het Democratische kamp destijds.
Het is in mijn ogen wel heel wat anders dan de gesprekken tussen een president en de directeur van de FBI, helemaal als dergelijke gesprekken nog worden gevolgd door een ontslag.
