A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the ceasefire was struck on Monday.
Representatives of the Ansarullah movement as well as those of the Yemeni defense and interior ministries met to strike the truce deal.
The Houthis’ al-Maseera satellite television channel reported that the military opened fire on a Houthi patrol in the area of the palace, which triggered gunfight.
The clashes between Yemeni army forces and Ansarullah fighters killed at least two people and wounded 14 others.
Meanwhile, Yemeni Information Minister Nadia Sakkaf said Prime Minister Khaled Bahah’s convoy was targeted after leaving the home of President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi. The premier reportedly survived the attack.
Sakkaf further said that Ansarullah forces have taken control of the country’s state-run media.

quote:Leader of Yemeni revolutionaries, Ansarullah, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi hailed the patriotism of the regular army for preserving the national interests and encountering the conspiracies plotted against it.
In a televised speech, Sayyed Houthi said that that some of the governmental forces prevented the implementation of the national agreement despite the consensual approval that it gained.
"Some parties moved in a direction that opposes the national agreement of partnership and facing the political tyranny in the country," he added, "All the irregularities in the draft constitution must be deleted."
"If the president (Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi) and the political forces had implemented the national agreement, the Yemenis would have witnessed a major change."
"After the president rejected the implementation of the national accord, the whole country headed into chaos."
Sayyed Houthi called on eradicating corruption and activating the competent supervisory and regulatory institutions.
Sayyed Houthi pointed out that certain pressures were exerted on the military camps in Marib in order to deliver their weaponry to al-Qaeda, what threatens the national security.
Commenting on the foreign plots to split the country into various regions, Sayyed Houthi said that they aim at ripping Yemen, calling on the president and the government to challenge them and to end the South's crisis.
"We are ready to face all the measures that the UN Security Council may take," Sayyed Houthi asserted.
Sayyed Houthi called on the Yemenis to support what the public committees are doing through rallies and demonstrations.

quote:Houthi fighters and Yemeni President Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi have come to agreement following days of violence in the capital Sana’a.
The deal came following a Wednesday meeting between Hadi and Houthi representative Saleh al-Samad in the presidential palace, over which the fighters gained full control earlier.
The nine-point deal stipulates the withdrawal of the armed Ansarullah fighters from the compound and calls for the release of Yemeni Presidential Chief of Staff Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak, in the Houthis’ custody since Saturday.
In return, a draft constitution dividing Yemen into six federal regions will be "possible to amend" so as to expand Houthi representation in the government and the parliament.
"The draft constitution should be agreed upon by all factions," according to the deal, and Yemen "will be a federal state in accordance with the outcome of the national dialogue."
"Ansarullah and peaceful Southern Movement and all other political factions deprived of equal representation in state institutions will have the right to be appointed in these institutions," the deal said.
The fighters made their way into the palace on Tuesday afternoon.
Yemen’s Shia Houthi movement draws its name from the tribe of its founding leader Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi.
The movement played a key role in the popular revolution that forced former dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down.
Saleh, who ruled Yemen for 33 years, stepped down in February 2012 under a US-backed power transfer deal in return for immunity, after a year of mass street demonstrations demanding his ouster.

quote:Thousands of people have taken to the streets across Yemen to support Shia Ansarullah revolutionaries of Houthi movement.
On Friday, the Yemenis attended massive rallies all over the country to express their support for the Shia fighters, chanting "death to America” and “death to Israel” slogans.
Another rally
Meanwhile, the southern Yemen separatists launched rallies in the city of Aden, calling for independence from the central government in the country’s capital, Sana’a.
According to reports, the separatists raised the flag of Southern Yemen over the airport and some of the government buildings in Aden.
Southern Yemen was formerly an independent country which merged with the northern Yemen Republic to form present-day Yemen in 1990.
Latest developments
The demonstration came a day after the Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the cabinet of Prime Minister Khaled Bahah resigned over pressure from Ansarullah revolutionaries.
Reports say the Yemeni parliament rejected Hadi’s resignation, calling for an emergency session.
The parliament’s move greatly infuriated Ansarullah supporters who surrounded the parliament in Sana’a in an attempt to pressure the legislative body to reconsider its decision.
Some representatives of Ansarullah revolutionaries said the Shia group welcomes the resignations of the Yemeni president and cabinet and may form a "salvation council" with members from different political groups from the country’s north and south.
Source of conflict
Yemen has been the scene of tensions after the Shia fighters arrested Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, Hadi’s chief of staff, at a checkpoint in the western district of Hada on January 17.
The impoverished Arab country is currently grappling with a severe political crisis between the central government and Ansarullah fighters.
In September 2014, Ansarullah revolutionary fighters gained control of Sana’a following a four-day battle with army forces loyal to General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, the half-brother of the country’s former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In the same month, Ansarullah fighters and the Yemeni government inked the UN-backed ceasefire deal that called for the withdrawal of the revolutionaries from the capital once a neutral prime minister was picked. The deal has failed to deliver any practical results so far.
