KYIV, July 24 /Ukrinform/.

Last night was disturbing in Donetsk again. Shots and explosions were heard in the city. This was reported by the press service of the Donetsk city council:

"Residents of Kyivsky, Kirovsky, Leninsky and Petrovsky districts heard how heavy artillery worked."

Due to the night fighting, 44 transformer substations were de-energized in Petrovsky district, houses of Petrovsky district remained without electricity, as well as villages of Biriuzovo and Hrabary. The current situation in the city does not allow teams of repairmen to quickly repair damages.

The situation remains tense with the water supply in Kirovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Leninsky and Petrovsky districts. As for public transport, it runs on the routes with a full complement.

2 Ukrainian Fighter Jets Shot Down as Conflict Intensifies

At a small checkpoint by a cornfield about six miles away, a rebel fighter who identified himself as a 41-year-old coal miner said he saw the two planes come down about noon. He said the fighter jets had been flying low, apparently to drop a payload, when they were hit and the pilots bailed out. The man said rebel fighters were searching for the pilots in the surrounding fields.

“It is a hunt,” he said, looking to the east toward the site. “They’re lying in the corn. It could take all night.” As he spoke, more fighter jets buzzed overhead, but they did not drop any bombs.
