The South Caucasian Republic of South Ossetia will develop close co-operation with Luhansk and Donetsk people’s republics self-proclaimed in southeast Ukraine, republican Parliament Speaker Anatoly Bibilov said on Thursday.
“We will conduct permanent work with them, South Ossetia has already recognized them, but support should be constant,” Bibilov told reporters, noting that “Now these republics are living through the times which South Ossetia experienced before 2008 (before its proclamation of independence). Therefore, our support will give strength to them.”

Is al een tijdje aan de gang. Ik vind het maar een vreemde discussie, die stukken zijn gewoon eigendom van dat museum, of dat nou in China, Tadzjikistan, Rusland of op de Maan staat doet er niet toe. Rusland heeft advocaten ingehuurd om Nederland ertoe te bewegen de Krim-collectie in het Amsterdamse Allard Pierson Museum aan Rusland te geven.
Dat heeft het Russische persbureau Interfax donderdag gemeld.
De kostbare voorwerpen van de tentoonstelling De Krim, Goud en Geheimen van de Zwarte Zee zijn uitgeleend door musea op de Krim.
Door de Russische inlijving van dat Oekraense schiereiland is getouwtrek ontstaan over de collectie, die bestaat uit onder meer een gouden zwaardschede en een pronkhelm en talloze juwelen. Moskou en Kiev eisen de objecten allebei op.
De Russische minister Vladimir Medinski van Cultuur liet weten dat een gerenommeerd advocatenkantoor op het gebied van internationaal recht is ingehuurd. ''Het zal onze belangen verdedigen als het tot een geschil komt, maar we hopen dat het nooit zover komt.''
Verlengd
De tentoonstelling in het Allard Pierson Museum is verlengd tot en met 31 augustus. Nederland heeft nog niet besloten waar de objecten daarna heen gaan.
''Ik ben zeer hoopvol dat onze Nederlandse collega's de zaak niet vanuit een bekrompen politiek oogpunt zullen benaderen, maar vanuit dat van het recht''.
Volgens Medinski is de collectie overgedragen onder een rechtstreekse overeenkomst tussen Nederland en de musea op de Krim. Hij verwacht uiterlijk in september een beslissing over de teruggave.
De objecten in Amsterdam zijn afkomstig van vijf Oekraense musea, waarvan er vier op de Krim liggen. Het Allard Pierson Museum heeft laten weten dat de voorwerpen zeker teruggaan, maar dat nog niet duidelijk is waarheen.

Het doet er o.a. in zo verre toe, dat Nederland de annexatie van de Krim niet erkent. Voor Rusland zou het bijv. heel legitiem kunnen zijn om kunst van een Krim-museum naar een ander Russisch museum over te brengen, maar vanuit Nederlands oogpunt zou die mogelijkheid juridisch gezien een risico op kunstroof door een bezetter inhouden.quote:

Dat lijkt me wel dat dat er toe doet. Als jij een hele collectie financiert van overheidsgeld dan neem ik aan dat je zo'n museum ook als overheidsbezit ziet. Dan zie je dat niet graag naar een ander land gaan, neem ik aan.quote:

Vroeg of laat zal Nederland de annexatie toch wel erkennen, anders krijg je een onleefbare wereld op den duur. Het is een conflict tussen de Krim en Oekrane, als er een vergoeding voor de collectie wel nodig is, zal dat via de Simferopol moeten gaan. Het lijkt mij niet dat Nederland zich verder in dat conflict moet gaan mengen.quote:

Volgens mij is voormalig Joegoslavi (excl. Sloveni en misschien Macedoni) nou juist een voorbeeld dat het proberen grenzen te trekken juist helemaal niks oplost en alleen maar voor nieuwe conflicten zorgt. Bijvoorbeeld met de onafhankelijkheid van Kosovo, die als gevolg heeft dat nu weer een Servische minderheid aan de verkeerde kant van die grens loopt. En om over Bosni maar helemaal niet te beginnen.
En ik weiger om de eindoplossing te zien in het lukraak trekken van een grens en vervolgens een etnische zuivering / genocide. Ja, zo zijn wij weliswaar in West- en Midden-Europa in het verleden aan onze mooie natiestaten gekomen, maar toch...
De burgeroorlog in Joegoslavie was het gevolg van de boedelscheiding (een vechtscheiding).
In Oekraine zie je na de onafhankelijkheid het nationalisme ook toenemen. Dat leidde al tot het onbezonnen drammen rond de taal, en is een reden dat de Russische minderheid zich niet meer thuis voelt.
Het ingrijpen van Rusland berust ook op nationalisme (Novorossiya. etnische Russen beschermen) al noemt Poetin het federalisme. De Russische inmenging in Oekraine gaat nog over de boedelscheiding rond het uiteenvallen van de Sovjet Unie. Oekraine moet de Krim loslaten en zelf lijven ze het in. Nationalisten in het ene land blij en in het andere land boos.
Het scheiden der wegen en het onderhandelen over een boedelscheiding kan best een goede oplossing zijn. Maar laat dit niet door nationalisten uitonderhandelen want dan wordt het vanzelf oorlog. En als de afspraken gemaakt zijn, reken er dan op dat nationalisten nog tot in lengte van dagen blijven geloven dat ze tekort zijn gedaan.
Nationalisten zullen nooit toegeven dat hun nationalisme getemperd moet worden en dat ze daarin zelf concessies moeten doen. Ze geloven dat hun wezen in het geding is, zoals je ook ziet bij geloofstwisten en kerkscheuringen. Identiteitsvorming heeft zo zijn valkuilen.

Maar Kateryna Kruk, een Maidan Heldin, is voor een voortzetting van de ATO. Zij is ook in de ban van het Oekraiens nationalisme en kan de rebellen wel vermoorden.

Mwah, vliegverkeer gaat in corridors en ik weet niet welke normaal gesproken boven dat gebied liggen. Op dit moment zijn er i.i.g. genoeg vliegtuigen tussen West-Europa en India/Zuidoost-Azi die zowat recht over Donetsk vliegen, al is er ook een tweede corridor die wat zuidelijker ligt. The Foreign Ministers of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine strongly reconfirm their commitment to sustainable peace and stability in Ukraine. Ministers urge that the Contact Group should resume no later than July 5th with the goal of reaching an unconditional and mutually agreed sustainable cease-fire. This cease-fire should be monitored by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine in conformity with its mandate. In that respect, Ministers agree to take all necessary measures and use their influence on the concerned parties with a view to achieving this goal. Ministers stress the importance of a swift release of all hostages.
Ministers welcome Russia’s readiness to grant Ukrainian border guards access to Russian territory in order to participate in the control of border crossings at the checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk while the mutually agreed cease-fire is in place. This shall be done in close collaboration between Russian and Ukrainian border authorities and pending the return of the Ukrainian checkpoints Izvarino and Krasnopartizansk to Ukrainian government control.
Ministers invite the OSCE to take all necessary steps to deploy OSCE-observers in response to the Russian invitation at the Russian checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk while the mutually agreed cease-fire is in place. All sides must contribute to a secure environment.
Ministers stress that this would contribute to an effective control of the Russian-Ukrainian border and called for regular and expeditious exchange of relevant information between Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE.
Ministers emphasize the need to ensure safety and security of journalists working in the area of violence.

A local militia spokesman said Thursday
One person died and more than 20 were wounded as a result of incessant shelling of the city of Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraines Donetsk Region. Most injured people were in serious condition. The citys medical institutions lack doctors and medications.
The artillery shelling of Kramatorsk by Ukrainian troops continued overnight. There was a lull in the early morning hours of Thursday but then strikes resumed, and were delivered at a residential building. Nearby buildings, power transmission lines and streetcar tracks were damaged.
Ukrainian military subjected the city of Nikolayevka, 10 kilometers from Kramatorsk and 6 kilometers from the city of Slavyansk, to massing shelling. The Slavyansk thermal power plant was damaged as a result. Eyewitnesses said Nikolayevka was nearly completely destroyed by shells.

Luhansk Republic’s government dismissed

Head of the Luhansk People’s Republic Valery Bolotov has dismissed the government, the website of the self-proclaimed republic reported on Friday. The ministers will continue to work until a new cabinet is formed, the website says.
The document published on the Internet says Marat Bashirov is appointed Acting Prime Minister. Within a week, he should present the structure and list of executive bodies, and their official names should comply with the republic’s constitution. No reasons for dismissal of the government are available.

Ukrainian army has delivered several artillery gun strikes on Bolshaya Vergunka, a suburb of the city of Luhansk, overnight to Friday, the press service of the self-proclaimed Luhansk people’s republic said on Friday. “Tanks of militia from the Lugansk people’s republic have moved to Bolshaya Vergunka” and shelled a Ukrainian military formation which was waging fire at the city, the press service said. Casualty reports are being specified.
Eyewitnesses said that several shells reached the central part of the city in the nighttime gunfire at the city. A woman was killed and a man was taken to regional hospital with a fragmentation wound by a projectile hitting a residential house in Menzhinsky Street, the press service of Luhansk city council said.
A man died of a gunshot wound in the 27th quarter of the city and seven people were wounded by shells hitting residential houses in different districts of Luhansk.
