Instigated in 1977 when the LTA Ball previously held on the final evening of The Championships was moved to the middle Saturday.

Predominately in white rule introduced in 1963. 'Almost entirely in white rule' introduced in 1995. Clothing submitted to Club for comment earlier in year. Instigated in 1977 when the LTA Ball previously held on the final evening of The Championships was moved to the middle Saturday.
The tradition of dancing between the two Singles Champions ceased then. In 2013, to be held at the InterContinental Hotel, Park Lane.
Clothing - players
Predominately in white rule introduced in 1963. 'Almost entirely in white rule' introduced in 1995. Clothing submitted to Club for comment earlier in year. Both Grand Slam and WTA rules stipulate recognised tennis attire. Decision on the day as to whether clothing/players' turnout is suitable at discretion of Referee. Guidelines:

Robin Haase heeft maandag op Wimbledon na zijn gewonnen wedstrijd tegen Vasek Pospisil uitgehaald naar de Nederlandse media.
"Ik ben er klaar mee. Ik word meer dan tachtig procent van de keren verkeerd geciteerd in al die jaren dat ik actief ben als tennisser”, stelt de Hagenaar.

Haase heeft na Roland Garros besloten een andere houding aan te gaan nemen tegenover de media.
"In Parijs ging het weer helemaal nergens over. Journalisten schreven alleen maar over die discussie met de scheidsrechter. In het buitenland zou geschreven worden dat het een blunder is van de scheidsrechter en bij mij ben ik altijd degene die door het lint gaat. Het gaat nergens over."
"Ik heb al een aantal keer geen interviews gegeven en nu geef ik gewoon korte saaie antwoorden waar niemand wat aan heeft. Dat is voor mij niet leuk en voor de pers niet leuk, maar het is niet anders.”

Haase wilde nog wel even ingaan op zijn knappe zege in vier sets tegen Pospisil. "Ik ben blij dat ik heb gewonnen. Het was goed genoeg gelukkig. Ik heb goed geserveerd en ik gaf hem weinig kansen. Die kreeg ik ook niet van hem. Ik kreeg er in de loop van de wedstrijd wel iets meer en die heb ik gepakt. Dat was het verschil vandaag.”
"Ik was het meest tevreden over het feit dat ik er constant in bleef hangen. Ik speelde niet heel super, dat kwam door zijn goed opslag, maar ik bleef op de juiste momenten rustig."

Haase treft in de tweede ronde de Fransman Gilles Simon. "Dat is een hele andere speler dan Pospisil. Hij serveert best wel goed, ook al zou je dat niet denken. Simon slaat heel vlak en wil de rally’s vanaf de baseline spelen."
"Het zal een moeilijke opgave worden om te winnen. Normaal staat hij geplaatst, maar nu niet. In dat opzicht is het een pittige ronde, zeker omdat ik net van iemand heb gewonnen die geplaatst is."
Het maakte Haase niet uit dat hij door zijn partij de wedstrijd van het Nederlands elftal tegen Chili miste. "Dat is op dit moment totaal niet belangrijk voor me. Ik focus me op het tennis hier.”
